Cults Teach Abusive Debate
Do cults 'teach' a specific argument style to Christian apologetics? It seems that all the cults use an abusive and defensive style of debate. Any former members have this experience?

Not all cults have an abusive nature.
All denominational churches are cult-like.
They have their own set of rules and laws, their own traditions, their own interpretations of the Bible. You would never see a Lutheran Pastor lead a Baptist congregation. In fact, if Jesus was walking the Earth today, He would not be allow to speak at any denominational church. The true church is not a denominational church. The true church are people having the same Spirit of Truth.

Mary: "They in their ignorance believe what God commanded Israel also pertain to us Gentiles."
"and the stranger within your gates" seems pretty clear to me. And most Christians as late as the 5th century were still keeping the Sabbath. It has never been rescinded--Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man (not just Jews), unless you wish to say that only Jews are men.

The Holy Spirit is the Teacher of truth.
Cults have a different teacher and a different father.

[One technique that abusive cults will use is that of proof texts, - verses ... out of context...}
Yes, and Adventists point to the 4th commandment but never to the following verses- You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
They in their ignorance believe what God commanded Israel also pertain to us Gentiles.

One technique that abusive cults will use is that of proof texts, - verses from the Bible often out of context to prove their points.
And we almost always see a high level of arrogance in the cultists - 'we are the remnant and all others follow apostate Babylon', in believing they alone have been endowed by God to bring others into the one true church apart from which there can be no salvation.
Such has been my experience with Adventists, Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.

I do believe it is spiritual. When talking or blogging with cult members there is just this blindbness and unwillingness to concede even a little. And they will defend their doctrine or prophet to the exclusion of Christ. AMAZING
but what I wondered is there seems to be a technique, it reminds me of a boxer dodging and sucker punching. They are nasty and consistant but methodical ---so do they teach a debate style (mormons, adventists, JWs) not RCC they just keep them in the dark completely

You will be like those you hang around. The bible says do not be unequally yoked.
If you hang with a ministry that does not believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, all miracles have passed away, healing ceased after the Book of Acts - you will be like that ministry.

john, you have another agenda and a different Bible.
Your bible doesn't believe in the devil, demons or hell.

So you are saying that a closed mind and ignornance produce words of wisdom and light?

The accusation needs Clarification? what is a cult & what is not.If defending the truth is unacceptable to the recepient or reader. The word is the Guide but the interpretations are self determined in the case of some based on their views which are Not Gods views.
