What Is The Annointing Of God

What is "The Annointing"? Is the way charismatics and pentacostals use it really accurate? It seems to me alot of Christians talk about THE ANNOINTING like Jedi's talk about THE FORCE. Same type of thing? Or no?

The anointing is the presence of Lord. The Holy Spirit. God's Love that flows from Heaven and reaches into the hearts of those believes in Christ. We have 2/share God's word w/others who hunger/thirst 4/Christ. The anointing comes to edify, exhort, & comfort. 2/receive God's anointing, you must have faith to believe that Jesus is Real, that he once was alive and died 4 all our sin so that we may eternal life. The bible says faith comes only by hearing God's Word (Romans 10:17). When the Anointed one is present, (Jesus). U will feel the anointing. You must open ur heart 2/receive the anointing. Its a gift from God, its freely given to those who wish 2desire 2feel the presence of God.

j. the way your question is worded it seems your having a problem with charismatics etc.
read 1Cor13 and Acts. There is a good teaching on spirithome and or layhands, they give multiple scriptures which 85 words won't hold. Just a thought. Andre 5846

Bill_bila5659: great blogs man! Also, I really asked the question to point out how we misuse the word "anointing" and see if anyone else has seen these misuses. In the end, I think Christians frequently use these words for things they were never meant for. I like that you went straight to scripture on this matter. I wish more of us would do this, and use reasoning instead of denominational jargon and sensual experiences as the standard for belief. Thanks again man!

Andrea: I was rasied (partially) in pencostal, charismatic circles. I'm not downing the people as much as I'm questioning the usage of the word. I've heard people almost describe it as a magic wand and take liberty to say who has the anointing and who doesn't. They make it like some mystical cure-all even in more practical matters: "you really have an anointing to fix cars". PS: Hey Jack, loosen up. Some of the greatest minds mispelled. And some of the greatest spellers have weak minds.

I'm barely familiar with "the force" I understand it to be something mystical. And yes the human mind could think of "the anointing" as something mystical. I have been under the anointing to do different things. I remained under a constant anointing( some people insist on calling it an anointing) to verbally witness to people about Jesus. I know what it is but I'm doing a terrible job of explaining it.

Hey j. - - I have been a nomad, walking from Mass to NC., around Mass. The anointing is with "the oil of gladness" > Hebrews 1:9 > Jesus on earth was anointed with this >

"'You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness,
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companons.'"

This has us in gladness of love with God, personal sharing with Him and each other. So, it's so better than just a force.

"It shall come to pass in that day
That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,
And his yoke from your neck,
And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil."
(Isaiah 10:27)

So, the anointing is not just some power for ambitions, but it is the Holy Spirit's power of love breaking the yoke of bondage, freeing us of whatever quenches us from bountiful and beautiful loving with God and each other.

Describing the invisible yet intimate relationship we have with Christ is difficult. We may all think we are experiencing the same thing but not.
I walk in Christ and feel His presence --- I describe it as when I look at God I know He is looking back. Theres an understanding of presence. God is not some far off force to be reckoned with at judgment He is a friend that sticks closer then a brother. But they are just words if you won't seek His face.

There is a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit often with 'power'. Power to pray, believe for the sick, witness, words of knowledge and wisdom that are Spirit lead and that is part of 'being in the anointing of the Holy Spirit'.
I would describe the anointing as working in His power and ministry of the Holy Spirit, actually getting out of His way (more then anything I do).
