Bob: What? I don't understand what Schticks are. Could you please help me understand what you are saying? Thank You.
---Rebecca_D on 11/3/07

RD:::
You're talking Oneness doctrines now, aren't you?
Schticks are nice, but they only last for a season.

Bob: cont, I understand the difference between the gifts from the Holy Ghost. And yes a person can have the gift of discernment of spirits without being baptized by the Holy Ghost. These gifts is a promise of a new power from God to those that believed. It doesn't matter to me if you don't believe that I have the gift of discerning the spirits, or not because I know that I do. This was my desire and it was what I prayed for.

Bob: I have the gift of discernment of the spirits. I know that I do, because I prayed for this gift and this was my desire. Speaking in tongues is evidence of baptized by the Holy Ghost and with fire. When the bible mentions fire fell upon them, it means they spoke in tongues. Because there were 120 people waiting in the upper room waiting and the Holy Ghost fell upon all of them and they spoke in tongues. I believe that a person can be saved and never be baptized by the Holy Ghost and with fire. cont,

Do you mean Spiritual gifts because there are more than nine [I think]. In any case, God gives noone all of the spiritual gifts. Or do you mean the fruit of the spirit? We all have those if you are born-again. What do you mean?

When laypeople come forward in a church, calling themselves prophets, apostles, etc - you will usually find these people wanting these positions/titles for reasons of pride, and they will usually be operating out of natural perceptions.
They are quickly exposed as they desire spiritual superiority over others and this is where you'll see the false words come forth.
---Bob on 10/31/07

RD::
Without the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, those with the gift of discerning of spirits would be able to determine if you actually had it or not. I think you probably have the gift of discernment, which most Christians have for their protection and safety, but not the gift of discerning of spirits.
---Bob on 10/31/07

RD:: Baptism of the Holy Spirit, not everyone who receives this baptism, speaks in tongues. They may never speak in tongues, but yet have one of the other gifts.

It's offbase churches that insist for the evidence type of tongues or you're not saved.
Then you'll see false tongues coming from the head, with someone repeating shondo after someone else, and not a true prayer language.
---Bob on 10/31/07

RD::
That's a given that salvation is not determined by tongues. Most know that.
I'm talking about the gift of discerning of spirits, and as with salvation, most Christians have the gift of discernment.
But I've only observed someone in the fivefold ministries with the gift of discerning of spirits.
---Bob on 10/31/07

RebeccaD::: The gift of discerning of spirits would not be something you could receive without the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. You might have the gift of discernment, but that would not be of the greater measure as the discerning of spirits and you could not have it without the Baptism. It's also usually given only to those in one of the fivefold ministries.
---Bob on 10/31/07

Without giving you too big of a pinch, someone with the gift of discerning of spirits would not find watching, "Charmed", an activity that they would participate in, nor Hell-o-ween.
---Bob on 10/31/07

RD::

The gift of the discerning of spirits is a gift, that allows one to know when the Holy Spirit is moving.
The presence of demons or angels
False doctrine, false prophets, and the ability to discern lies.

As with the gift of speaking in tongues vs. the gift of diverse tongues, which are two separtate gifts.....

The gift of discernment and the gift of discerning of spirits are two separate gifts
---Bob on 10/31/07

The discerning of spirits is a revelation gift. It is given to someone in one of the fivefold ministries and not the laity.

What the Bible says, the layman's gifts are not of the same measure, demonstration as those who have these gifts in the fivefold ministries.

Someone who is a prophet, apostle, etc. will have the greater demonstration.
---Bob on 10/31/07

The laity do not have as great of measure for - the word of knowledge, word of wisdom, discerning of spirits to the degree that a prophet would have.

There are not prophets among the laity, prophets will be in a leadership position in the church. Prophets ususally have the gift of discerning of spirits.

---Bob on 10/31/07

Bob: A person can't become a prophet from God if they do not believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It is called a gift from God. I have the gift of discernment of spirits and I haven't been baptized by the Holy Ghost. Baptism of the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues. I agree, baptism of the Holy Ghost may or may not occur at the time of Salvation. If it doesn't happen that doesn't mean that person isn't saved.
---Rebecca_D on 10/31/07

I do believe that a person can function in all 9 of the gifts. Reason why I say that is because the gifts flow as He, the Holy Spirit, wills.

A person could prophesy, etc. one day. Another day that person could just speak a word of wisdom. But is all as the Holy Spirit allows.

There are those called to the fivefold ministries and nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Eph 4:7
---Michelle on 10/30/07

In 1 Timothy 2:7, the apostle Paul stated that he had the gifts of evangelist, apostle and teacher. The apostle Paul acknowledged three of the five gifts in his ministry. Paul was an apostle, but claimed to have three of five gifts in his ministry.

There is a "new" definition of an apostle that is going around in the Church today, that for Paul to have been an apostle, he would have operated in all five gifts.
But the Bible does not say that and Paul was an apostle.

A Prophet chosen by God usually moves in all 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit. I believe the Apostle Paul did.

Question -
Do you believe anyone can operate in any of the gifts without the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
Some believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs at the moment of salvation for everyone straight across the board..
That is not the case.

Question -

All gifts come from the Holy Spirit, how does someone have the gift of discerning of spirits without receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
---Bob on 10/30/07

Question -

How does someone become a prophet when they do not believe the Holy Spirit is God and rejects the Trinity?
What spirit would they be operating out of?

How does someone become a prophet when they do not believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

I've known a few to excercise all of the gifts, althouh 1 or 2 are their main gift. God does as He chooses in circumstances as needed.
---christina on 10/30/07

Yes it is possible for a person to have all the gifts from God. After all he did say that he would pour out his spirit upon all. God does not limit us on what we can learn and what gifts we have. He does however tell us that if we have this gift to use it/them for his glory. The second question: With God ALL things are possible.

Yes a Christian can have all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. I know of no one who has all nine, but I know many who exercise more than one of the gifts. As for myself recognizing that I do not have many of the gifts is one of the reasons I went to the streets. I have preached on street corners, but only to deliver the message of how a man can be saved. I'm led to be much more concerned with salvation than all the other peripheral concerns.
