Atheists by definition DO NOT BELIEVE that there is a God. I was raised as an atheist and was saved as an adult. Until then, I didn't even really know who Jesus was:). But now I have been Christian for 30 yrs. Not all atheist's work against God. I never thought about God when I was atheist. When one is involved in another religion, he/she is anti-Christ and is working against God. This is a dangerous position. My suggestion to you is that we all (no matter what religion or lack of) have the same chance to be saved. Atheists have an equal chance to accept Jesus Christ and be forgiven like anyone else. God knows our final destination because of HIS 'FORE'knowledge. Since WE don't have FOREknowledge, we cannot know, neither should PREdestination be any concern of ours. Ideally, we SHOULD be at peace about this, but human nature is that we'd rather be puffed up and pretend that we are 'the elite'/special ones and bicker. I am a reasoning creature, by the grace of God who made us all reasoning creatures. So if someone can persuade me to change, I will do so. I have changed on several postitions so far. I admitted I was wrong about Jesus - he never sinned even as a boy. I have admitted that it is possible the dinosaur bones are (some of them) real bones (though not of this planet) and I have admitted that we are actually predestined, when I preferred to think it was about what we did, not what God has done already. Although this is a time when the god of this world is in control it is a time of grace for Christians and unbelievers. Christians, through persecution are going to inherit the promise of Salvation. Unbelievers are being allowed to grow together as tares with the wheat. But that doesn't mean God cannot see what is happening. He is keeping records. It would be wrong of us to say otherwise. God is ultimately in control and will decide and using his Word to judge us by, whether we have believed and obeyed, or disbelieved and sinned. Unbelief is sin. Other sins make us filthy compared to God but our belief is like a white robe that covers all our sins. |

Jody, why did Jesus say 'My father's house has many mansions'? Why does it say in the Bible that God will save whoever he likes. God is the boss, not you or I. Who knows how many Buddhists, Muslims and Jews have the Holy Spirit in them. They just have not been introduced to the true God of Christianity or the true Jesus only a false one that our political leaders represent to them. Jesus is clear about the evil people who stop others from getting to Heaven receiving a worse fate than a millstone around the neck etc. God means 'good' and is good and there is no evil or unfairness in him. Atheists work deliberately against God, they believe in Him alright, they just happen to hate him. |

Jody, do not limit God. He is able to convert people in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, if they are chosen by God. Even in the moments before they enter Hell. The eternal soul has many chances to receive Christ in my opinion. They will be chosen according to what kind of people they are. Atheists are not a prime example of fertile ground, rather they have seared their consciences by the work they have done against God, by their sinful unbelief. They have considered seeking God, and rejected the idea. This is a different kettle of fish to characters who believe sincerely that their god is the true one, and have made an honest mistake. |

I do want to say that it is misleading to suppose that "good" Buddhists, Muslims and Jews can go to heaven bc they can be converted while leaving atheists out of this scheme:). An active nonbeliever goes to Hell. It does not matter if they are Buddhist,Moslim,Jew or atheist. One must accept Jesus Christ as saviour to qualify for heaven. There is only one God, and only one Saviour.
I have tried to defuse the hatred that is sometimes shown here for different denominations and shades of understanding, but that does not make me a one God fits all person

The reason that we all argue is that on this site there are only a handful of us who agree in the God of the Bible, and those few of us who agree and believe in Him have no differences. This is difficult for you to see. You look at Alan and you say 'Now that is a god I can believe in.' Alan, you will notice has a lot of votes. He has a god that a lot of people can accept because his god is the god of this world. There is One True God. The believers in other gods are deceivers/deceived and you will probably get along with them. Atheist, I don't know who told you that believing is the condition for escaping hell. There will be many self-proclaimed believers in God in Hell. Also, who told you that good Buddhists, Muslims and Jews are going to Hell? I have not seen that written in the Bible. I believe some of them will be converted before they die, and the children are not accountable for their religious practices. Finally, some people may secretly love Christ, or do a kindness to a Christian in their life, which God will honour with a reward. It is atheists who are going around spreading these ideas of a nasty unfair God. For that no doubt they will go to Hell. There they will be free to blaspheme Jesus to His Face, because I am sure Jesus visits Hell. |

A reprobate mind is one who rejects God and especially hates Jesus Christ. They are reprobate because of sin, which has resulted in God giving them over to Satan to learn a lesson. If they go through a lot of suffering then God is being merciful and trying to get them to repent. But that's one of my continual points. Everyone here claims that there is one god, but what he did, how he did it, what he wants us to do, whether there's an afterlife, and the punishments or rewards in it, and all different for everyone.

If you consider yourself reprobate, that would be of your own decision to be one.

On the other hand there is the past more accurate definition, which is based on pre-destination and Calvinist doctrine. There are those elected to go to Heaven, and there are the non-elect (the reprobates, from the Latin "reprobatus" meaning reproved or condemned) who were destined to Hell.
