Rebuild Jewish Temple

2 Thessalonians 2:14. About Antichrist says ,"so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." When will this scripture be fulfilled. This scripture seems to dictate the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Your comments

Pam >> From the earliest days of the Church the Bishops always saw the Holy Communion service as an offering ceremony to God the Father. That Clean Oblation foretold by the prophet Malachi. Mal.1:11 Then we eat the sacrificial victim (the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ)of which they who minister at the Temple have no right to eat (heb.13:10

Adam said, "Don't be decieved. This passage has already come to pass with the Destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in A.D. 70."

Woah! You're about to stir-up a hornets nest (I wasn't going to go there), but it's nice to know others have been doing their own studying instead of reading every Bible Commentary as if they were inspired. Most Believers I know read the NT as if it were the daily newspaper -- thinking it was written TO them instead of FOR them.

Dearly beloved bloggers,
We see in history that the "Glory of God", ie., the Holy Spirit exited the temple in Ezekiel's day, later Christ the Son exited saying, "your house is left unto you desolate", & at Jesus's death, the Father exited by tearing the temple curtain asunder. The we are told in I Peter 2:4-5 that we CHRISTIANS are the Temple. Does Paul dictate something to the contrary? Don't think so...

Mima, there is no temple to be built..the said temple is us..we are to get ourselves always ready for His comeing..for our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit..We are to continue walking in God's ways repenting everyday, hour, minis etc..Sacrificials are done away at the cross and will not be repeated..Christ died 4us.. our Redeemer..no more sacrificing animals..no more ceremonial laws..they are all done away..

In a conversation where people were talking about God someone ask Winston Churchill. Do you believe in God Winston? Yes, he said, I do. Well, what proof do you have the questioner ask? The JEWS was Winston's reply.

One of the big reasons I believe in Jesus is because I see the Jew in the world today, in the nation Israel. I'm looking for the Temple.

Kraus, thank you for the input, its something to study about. I'm not sure there is much in the Bible which refers to that ark,so far I haven't found it.
---Darlene_1 on 11/30/07

darline 1- the Bible says Moses build everything as a copy of Gods heavenly tabernacle that he saw. The ark here is most likly a replcia in some way of the ark there. no Bible for it, just a guess.
steve- i have heard they claim they do have the ark as well as the other items hidden away under the temple site and are ready to rebuild.

"The excitement is in the fulfilling of prophecy. God said that the Jews would be sacrificing in the time of the Great tribulation, so, the temple will have to be rebuilt, if not the prophecy will be proven wrong."

I totally agree with with this answer by Tommy.

Woah. Please refer to the entire books of Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezra and Nehemiah first. You will then be in a much better position to properly identify the "Great Tribulation". We get so confused because we know almost nothing of history. The prophecy itself is NOT wrong, only our understanding of it.

In Rev.11:19 And the Temple of God was opened in Heaven, and there was seen in his Temple the ark of His testament:--. What is the differance in the Ark of the Covenant and the ark of His testament other than one is in earth and other in Heaven? What is the ark of His testament?

Just throwing this out there....

"so that he sets himself up in God's temple"

God's temple could mean the church. I don't see where you get that sacrifices will still be occuring during this time though.

What confuses me is, why build a Temple if you don't have an Ark of the Covenant to sprinkle with blood on Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). Is it possible they actually have the Ark ?

Jack:

Probably for the same reason that a woman who is 9 months pregnant may actually look forward to going into labor.

Those of the Jewish faith (Judaism), still expecting the first appearance of the Messiah, will rebuild the temple in anticipation and preparation of His coming. I have heard, that It has been realized, that the temple currently on the mount sits in what would have been considered the outer court of the original temple of God. Therefore the temples Holy of Holies, as well as the inner court of the temple, can indeed be rebuilt without having to remove the current temple. 2 Thes.2:14 will be fulfilled.

The Dome of the Rock (an Islamic holy site) is located at the same place.

Because of this, rebuilding the temple would be a bad idea, politically. (Bad meaning war, possibly nuclear).

Keep in mind that both the First and Second Temples were glorified slaughterhouses. What do you think went on in there anyway? Cantatas and revivals?

This passage in 2 Thess suggests that the Third Temple, if such there be, will become the Temple of Antichrist, so why are people so excited about its being built?
---Jack on 11/15/07

It will take place during the period of the Great Tribulation. At the halfway point, the AntiChrist will break his peace agreement with the nation Israel, and defile the temple with his presence, and declaration of his being "god," as written in the book of Revelation.
