And as far as the determination that all should go to hell who do not constantly uphold, enable and constantly placate the demon possessed, that would be more condemnation from the enemy.
The greatest blessing for the demon possessed is to be set free and to come into their right mind. For that to occur, a deliverance from evil spirits would be needed.
---Mark on 1/31/08

Often it's only a borderline's hair width of difference between the demon possessed and mentally disturbed.
---Mark on 1/31/08

Helen: Please explain how the evil spirits work in a person's natural brain chemistry? How can they be lying when the person's brain chemistry is all screwed up naturally? Schizophrenics have a brain chemistry problem, NOT evil spirits. I wish you would study this subject and have true mercy on these poor, sick people, instead of just dismissing everything as evili spirits.
---Trish9863 on 12/1/07

I beleive that Spirit filled Christians, do not know what spirits they are of, MANY TIMES
they are carriers of "THE SPIRIT OF DEATH" which can and will bring them to an early death, and also their children, also if their have been any generational curses brought about by suicidal family members, it can inhabit generations, if deliverance is not brought about.
---Whisper on 11/29/07

The people who are saved are saved to serve God not to commit suicide. God is also preparing His people for heaven. And we are to love the Lord thy God with all of our hearts, soul, and mind. Unless you live a holy life you will never see God. So suicide is out of the question, if you expect to see Him.
---catherine on 11/29/07

Trish9863 - ("There are also many who, while psychotic, get command hallucinations to kill themselves.") -- There is an answer for that, and it is Satan himself. Those people need Jesus desperately and they need deliverance from the evil spirits that are lying to their minds, to get them to commit suicide and end up in Hell.
---Helen_5378 on 11/29/07

People who are too busy to help the sad, the lonely, the differant, the poor, these are the people who should go to hell, not the people who committe suicide because they are sick. But I am NOT God, I don't really know the rules about suicide, only He does.I do know, however, people have killed themselves that loved God and tried to please God in every way they possibly knew and prayed to Him for help when their sickness wasn't overtaking them.
---sue on 11/29/07

Trish: The bible has explain it. The bible calls them lunatics. How do you think epileptic got it's name? From doctors? I think not. Epilepsy came from the bible referring to a dumb spirit.
---Rebecca_D on 11/29/07

The answer to the question is no.

This is JESUS speaking,or may be he don't realy mean what he is saying.

Matt12:31 Wherefore,I say unto you,All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men,but the blasphmey againt the holy spirit shall not be forgiven men.

---LIONEL on 11/28/07

I'm not even reading thru all these...... no need to. suicide is the one sin from which there can be no repentance. how can you repent if you've already died in it??
---Toby on 11/27/07

Rebecca: I have worked with many people who are mentally ill, and incapable of making healthy choices for themselves. Many have been psychotic or delusional and unable to care for themselves physically. There are also many who, while psychotic, get command hallucinations to kill themselves. Explain that away.
---Trish9863 on 11/27/07

Thous shalt not kill ANYONE, including yourself.
---Caring on 11/27/07

Strongaxe: So God should have been more specific about his meaning of murder? What is murder to you? If a person takes someone's life with a gun then turns around and takes their own life, are not both considered to be murder? We all are responsible for the the choices we make in our life. So God can't send help to those who need it? Even if a person doesn't have anyone, God still sends help. but if that person refuses help is that God's fault?
---Rebecca_D on 11/26/07

1) Hebrew in "thou shalt not kill" is "murder". There is no mention that this also refers to SELF.
2) Ons is responsible for drugs one chooses, but what about drugs or chemicals one ingests without knowledge (say, from contaminated food or water or air)? How about mental illness?
3) How do you know all who tries suicide have people to help? Many try because NOBODY helps.
4) Everyone gets tired. Ask a 95 year old how long they want to live. Some tire sooner.
---StrongAxe on 11/26/07

Where did you gain this knowledge about this demon named "suicide"? And that depression and seduction and confusion do not exist without him? The bible says nothing about any of this. Do you have some special extra-biblical revelation to share?

Are you a trained psychologist and a demonologist as well?
---StrongAxe on 11/26/07

Eloy mentioned the possibility of some who commit suicide repenting with their final breath. IF one believes each and every sin must be individually confessed, repented of, it is still possible in some instances that repentance took place with a dying breath. Who are we to judge? I am sorry for the lack of compassion towards those who have loved ones that have taken their life. MayGod bless andcomfort you.

Trish: If that be the case then why don't the backsliders make it to heaven? If that be the case then why did Jesus tell us that if we lose our first love and don't repent he will remove the candlestick out from under us? And why did Christ tell us that the just shall live by faith and if any man draws back, his soul shall not have any pleasure in them? And why did God tell us that whomever sins against him, he will blot their name out of his book, which is the book of life?
---Rebecca_D on 11/24/07

People only want to read the good parts in the bible. They don't want to read what will happen if they backslide and don't repent. Where a tree shall fall, is where it shall land. Meaning if a person dies lost (backslider) they will be raised lost or as a backslider. Lionel, You to have not read what happens to the backsliders. Mark: I was meaning that if a person backslides on God, if they repent and come back to him, they must do their first works over again.
---Rebecca_D on 11/24/07

One can't have faith and not have good works. because without faith, works are dead. If a person becomes born again, that is great news, but if that person doesn't abide in Christ and Christ in them always they will die lost. God tells us that those who overcomes and keep his works will eat from the tree of life and shall sit with him in his Kingdom and their names will not be blotted out of the book of life. Satan works on the minds of people. That is how it starts.
---Rebecca_D on 11/24/07

It doesn't matter if a person has a bible with them or not when they take their own life. Because if the word of God was in their heart, then they would know that taking their own life is wrong. When God said Thou shalt not kill, he meant self as well. And God does not hold drugs responsible if a person uses drugs, he holds the user responsible. Satan will use whatever he can for his advantage to turn their back on God. Such as Job. CONT,

cont: When a person takes their life asks God why didn't he help, God will tell them, Well I sent numerous people and several angels but you refused their help, what more did you want? As for Samson, he asked God for strength so he could get revenge from those that took out his eyes. Trudy: God would never tell anyone to take their own life. Suicide means a desire to die. Can a person have a desire to die and a desire to live at the same time? No they can't. Like Judas, his guilt led him to suicide.
---Rebecca_D on 11/24/07

I believe God judges the heart of man, not the weakness of the flesh. My father was a born again Christian, taught Sunday School, had two beautiful daughters and life was good for him, things happened, and eventually he ended up taking his life, I do not believe he is in hell, never have, never will. One of the last things that he said before he died to his family was, be good people, and go to church.40 years later, I see this as a heart cry from a born again spirit, that had been weakened and wounded.
---Gayla on 11/24/07

There really is a "demon" his name is "suicide" he lives in localities, regions, and can posess and lie to an individual bringing such depression and seduction, that this demon is the "ONLY" reason a person will kill themself, UNCHRISTIANS that are not EDUCATED IN THE SPIRITUAL, say they were mentally confused or depressed. Totally ignorant of the REAL AGENT THE SUICIDE DEVIL who is laughing now at his successes. A Christian who is BACKSLIDDEN does go to hell.
---Whisper on 11/24/07

Here is what you said Rebecca, "I believe a person can only get saved one time" Then you finish with, "And after that if they should fall, they need to repent and start all over again" What you are saying first is, "saved one time," Then you turn around and say, "They can start all over again." How can they start all over again, if they are saved one time? It is only one salvation, forever, Eternal. Rebirth is a one time deal. No rainchecks.

Trudy, your catholic sister-in-law is unsaved and going to hell unless she repents, so believe no thing that comes out of her dead mouth. The Bible is very clear, if a person dies with sin they go to hell, and if a person dies without sin they go to heaven. Therefore if your sister-in-law would die today she would 100% be in hell because she is not saved, and for her to misjudge your mother reveals herself to yet be separated from the truth, and no liars are permittesd into holy heaven.
---Eloy on 11/23/07

Untill you accept God's plane of salvation, the way his word presents it.
The secerity of the believer,as his word presents it.
You will not be able to receive thruths that awaits you.
If you think not, could you explain what the word ALL means.
---lionel on 11/23/07

Rebecca: You did not explain the Romans verse to me. If a person is in Christ, they are that way permanently. Scripture says there is NO condemnation for those who are IN CHRIST. I do not believe that a person can be taken out of Christ once they are in Christ. Romans continues to say that NOTHING can separate a person from the love of God which is IN CHRIST.

Please let us agree to disagree on this. I am OSAS, and you obviously are not.
---Trish9863 on 11/23/07

(1) People can be both mentally ill, with real chemical imbalances in their brain, and Born Again Christians. Mentally ill people sometimes make poor choices, just as "normal people" do. If a mentally ill Born Again Christain was to commit suicide, do you not think the Lord, Jesus Christ, would be the best One to judge the heart of the person who killed themself?
---Trudy on 11/23/07

(2)Did Jesus not say it would be better for a sinner to tie a millstone around their neck and throw themself into the sea than to cause someone else to stumble? Wouldn't tying a millstone around our neck and throwing ourself into the sea be committing suicide? Would Jesus be telling us it is sometimes a better thing for our souls to die now than to continue to sin?
---Trudy on 11/23/07

(3) My mentally ill mother, who trusted Jesus as much as a mentally ill person can trust, committed suicide 40 days after my father died of cancer. My Catholic sister-in-law told me on the day I buried my mother that my mother was now in hell. I believe Jesus will be the judge of that, and it is in Him alone I put my trust. If my mother is in hell, it is because Jesus knew her heart and judged her fairly. It will not be because someone else threw callous words at a broken heart.
---Trudy on 11/23/07

We are told that God does not grade sin.
In that case the sin of committing suicide is no worse than that of lying. So it is as forgiveable.
Problem is as Rebecca shows, that the person has no chance in this life of repenting.
This does not apply to nay other sin.
But it is not "the unforgiveable sin".
If it were a passport straight o hell, I think the Bible would have listed it as unforgiveable.
---alan_of_UK on 11/23/07

GOD had a man who was a Nazirite to him{God}from the womb to the day of his death,Judges 13:7 who was named Samson.

Was not he{Samson}God man.

Do you think he did not know his actions would cause his death.

Are is that not called suicide.

If a person truly thinks that they would be better off dead rather than alive, whether their thinking is right or wrong, it is God whom forgives the dying soul and not for any person to ignorantly condemn. When a person commits suicide, more often than not, it is when the depressed person is completely alone, because their "dying to die" does not involve any other living soul, eventhough the selfish survivors may desire it to be so.
---Eloy on 11/23/07

Many are deeply depressed and not able to think rationally when they kill themselves, proven by the many suicide notes left behind for the survivors. Also many have repented asking God's forgiveness with their dying breaths. God determines whether these go to heaven or to hell. I think it's very sad that so many people are hurting so deeply around us, and without anybody helping them, that they come to think that suicide is the only answer to their pain.
---Eloy on 11/23/07

The Bible advocates life rather than death, and thus emphasizes living and encourages all to live righteous and be blessed. God does not desire anyone to kill themself, but he knows about grief and depression, and he wants us all to reach out and help the hurting and not ignore them, and let them die. Too many hide their pain inside, to where it becomes unmanageable, and to the point of self-destruction.
---Eloy on 11/23/07

suicide is NOT vengence, my son shot himself and had his bible laying on his lap. I was told by a professional that if you are far gone enough to kill yourself, you are so far gone nothing can get through to you before you actually do it. I believe Jesus understands and considering drugs and other outside interferrences it would be pretentious to try to determine why this happens and we are not to judge.

Trish: Just because a person gets saved, that doesn't mean they can't backslide and fall back into sin. Because they can. A lot of people has fell from Christ and lost their first love. Those people along with the sinners are on their way to hell. God said that he can erase a person's name out of his book. I believe that a person can only get saved one time. And after that if they should fall, they need to repent and start all over again with God.
---Rebecca_D on 11/22/07

So, to most of you, one 'sin' condemns you to hell?

Or is it that Christ has forgiven all sin, for our claiming?

Glad I don't have to judge, that's God's job.

God created the human Body with the will to survive.Scripture says that one can get to a place that God will turn them over to Satan for the destruction of the Flesh that the soul might be saved.I do not believe that anyone that commits suicide is in their right mind. And the Bible does not say that God only helps those that help themselves. As David said,I was brought low and he(Christ)helped me.Show me one person in the Bible that commited suicide and went to Hell.I believe in scriptural evidence.
---Tommy on 11/21/07

(1) Suicide is not a Loving act, it is a selfish one. For the Lord said avenges is mine, meaning not yours. It is not for us to take things into our own hands with out Gods consent but to continuously cry out in the name of Jesus Christ in ALL SITUATIONS, because there is LIFE in His name.

If you have committed suicide you DID NOT do it in the name of the Lord and savior Jesus Christ. So it begs the question EXCUSE ME - the statement that you REALLY WERE NOT SAVED?
---Shawn.M.T on 11/21/07

(2) Those who falsely give their hearts to Christ are not eternal souls but are still selfish troubled souls, continuing on with their own natural desires. Two such examples in the bible are King Saul & Judas Iscariot. Both killed themselves because their hearts where not truly given to God. Judas Iscariot was even water baptized by Jesus, but like John stated we should be looking for the baptism by fire of the Holy Spirit not one by water.

Blessings to you laura, if you or anyone you know is thinking about suicide, think about this.. suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I pray for anyone who is even thinking about commiting suicide. Our storms of life here on this journey are temporary, but Jesus Christ is the answer. Suicide is exactly what satan wants someone to do. We are to be overcommers and to resist the devil, and he will flee. God Bless friends!
---Cynthia on 11/21/07

Bill, said it real well. God will make any true woman or man of God strong. I cannot falcom any true Christian whom God has chosen to serve Him committing suicide. This is not to say we do not have thoughts on this. Must get and stay close to the Lord thy God, if you want to make it to Heaven. And do not forget, one of God's jobs is to get His people ready for heaven. So suicide has got to go by the way-side. Do not feel so bad. In the Bible some prophets asked God to take their life, He refused.
---catherine on 11/21/07

#2. Another reason is that God has written it already. He is not going to go back on He said already. Another reason is that "God is Omniscience, Knowing All." God being infinite is able to be aware of all things, to understand all things and to comprehend all things. "He never learns or acquires new knowledge" To say that He saved someone, and later He finds out they committed suicide, is to say that God didn't know what was going to happen.
---Mark_V. on 11/21/07

#3. Another reason is "Who can say that God is not able to stop anyone from committing suicide?" I sure hope nobody. He can stop sin this minute if He so desired. He can do anything because He is "Omnipotent" Omnipotence means that God holds all power over His creation. No part of creation stands outside the scope of His Sovereign control. So my answer is no. God is not a man like us. He doesn't see as we do, He knows the beginning and the end of everything.

Can you provide any scriptures to back up your assertion that people who commit suicide immediately go to hell? I have never been able to find any scriptures that talk about this subject.
---StrongAxe on 11/21/07

#1. Laura, speaking from Scripture, when a true believer is saved, He is saved eternally. The perserverance of the saint's is build into the New Covenant promise where God say's, "I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me." Jer. 32:40. Departing from Christ and departing from the world are two different things. God said, "they will not depart from Me", He didn't say "might" or "will," but not depart from Me.

Duane, Amen Brother!

I know a girl that committed suicide. She was suffering in pain and agony everyday. The doctors treated it, but it wasn't going to get better. She wrote that she was tired of fighting for each breath.

Our God is a God of compassion.
Lu 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

Suicide is not the unpardonable sin.

Thank God that where sin did abound grace did much more abound because of Christ.

Rebecca: I believe that a person's salvation is sealed once and for all, and that I cannot lose my salvation no matter what.

Scripture does not support the idea that we can lose our eternal salvation. We can lose our rewards, and our crowns. We can also lose our physical life if we choose to live like the devil, as scripture does support that.

There is nothing you can say that will change my stand on this. I have been OSAS my entire adult life and will not budge from this stance.
---Trish9863 on 11/20/07

Bill_bila, you're too quick to judge and to condemn. In most cases, suicide is caused by mental imbalance and the person can be completely disoriented.

This can be caused by serious problems in their lives.

People can so show and act convinced that they are "saved", but are not egg-zactly. Classically, suicide comes after a person has lived selfishly, instead of in God's love which would have made the person strong and sound in spite of problems (1 Peter 3:13). And "God resists the proud," we have in James 4:6 and also in 1 Peter 5:5. God's resistance can work in mysterious ways to effectively put a stop a proud person's selfish living, and then is when one may kill oneself in rebellion.
---Bill_bila5659 on 11/20/07

YES. They immediately get taken into hell.
---Whisper on 11/20/07

We should not avoid suicide just because we feel threatened by hell. Jesus, "when He suffered, did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously." (in 1 Peter 2:23) So, Jesus is not using hell to threaten us to or not to do anything. But our right reason to do what is good is because we love God. You perhaps can't ask this question objectively and honestly while you or someone close to you is possibly going to commit suicide.
---Bill_bila5659 on 11/20/07

Duane: How can you put suicide and lying in the same category? Because if a person lies, they can ask to be forgiven, but if a person commits suicide, they can't ask to be forgiven because they will be dead. They can't ask God to bring them back to life long enough to ask forgiveness of them killing themselves.

I have wondered that myself too. I think that God created us in his image. We are his children. If we kill ourselves, it is the same as murder. It is just murdering ourselves. A sin is a sin. Just it is too late to ask forgiveness so my guess is the person would go to hell.

Sin is matter big or small. Lets not add to scripture. Suicide is no more sin than a lie.
Thank God Christ did away with sin

Trish: So your saying that a born again person can live anyway they want to, and still go to heaven? That is not what the bible teaches. The bible teaches if a person leaves Christ, and falls back into sin, they are on their way to hell unless they repent and do their first works over.
---Rebecca_D on 11/20/07

Yes. Anyone who commits suicide will go to hell. If a sinner and a Christian commits suicide at the same time, both will be given the same judgement from God. God helps those who helps themselves. If a person take their life, how can God help them if their not willing to put forth an effort to help themselves? Like me smoking, if I ask God to help me quit but still keep buying cigarettes and I keep on smoking but I keep asking for help, how can he help me? God can't.

It does say that murderers do not have eternal life. Does that include self? It also says that those who hate are murderers. 1 John 3:15.
If suicide is murder, then according to Scripture, there is no hope without repentance. If so, then we should lump gluttons, smokers, and drug abuseres into the same pile, seeing they are committing suicide too, but are just doing it slower. I hope suicide isn't murder.
