Mima, if someone believes in eternal security, predestination, OSAS - what would motivate street preaching?
---Cindy on 1/28/08

I currently do street ministry, not exactly preaching although we do hold bible studies and meetings for those who wish, where the Gospel is spread, I do this as a result of God's calling, and this Christmas gave away about 5000 gift packs, if one person can reach this number, then imagine what a group would

Recently I had the following experience. I was giving away a small motorcycle in order to deliver the message of salvation to those who signed up for a chance. When a man walked up and offered me another motorcycle to give away. When I asked him why he wanted to get it to me he said. Years ago I heard a street preacher, just like you and I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ that day and I just want to do something to help.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it

"Don't think for one moment that you are trampling upon my people, for you are not. You are trampling upon God Himself" Susie. What a disgrace that in America the law permits such TYRANTS. And just think people are dieing in Iraq. This nation is becoming the most hypocritical, godless nation in the world.++++

This post is absurd. We are preaching Jesus so this nation will not become a Godless nation.

Ispeak for the Almighty God when i speak.
God is against those that would do contrary
to what He demands, and use Him to present
His or Her way of life.
It is written that we should not be like them. Street Preaching and the glory they
get from it......is all that they shall receive... they get nothing from God.
And nothing from nothing leaves nothing.

Mima...Yes, it is my husband. And you and he would love each other. He's on his way to jail right this moment. Of course, they will let him out after two hours because they are afraid he would keep the inmates awake all night preaching. He's even led a couple of the guards to the Lord.

Notlaw said, "Street Preaching has generally found to be a noneffective ministry program."

You wanna tell that to the hundreds of people we have seen come to the Lord because of street preaching in many large cities in the world? Some of the most effective ministry in third-world countries is street preaching. Jesus did a lot of this type of preaching as thousands gathered around Him out in the open. The woman who touched the hem of His garment was walking along the street.

Street Preaching has generally found to be a noneffective ministry program. It creates animosity and generally paints Christianity in an unfavorable light with the general public. Mima gets is jollies through confrontational evangelism, it is a hideous practice.

There are so may better way to be an effective tool for Christ concentrate your efforts in those areas.

---Susie I just loved your post. That is my kind of man, old praise the Lord for a man like that!!!! I Think he is your husband how lucky you are.

Mima...I see a street preacher every morning when I wake up. I also see a jail preacher, a restaurant preacher, a Walmart preacher, a grocery store preacher, etc. It doesn't matter what my idea is about this preacher, he's gonna preach everywhere he goes. He says he is a nobody, telling everybody about a somebody who can save anybody. He has led hundreds to the Lord on the streets of Las Vegas. One waitress at Denny's got down on her knees and prayed with him.

Mima, if I had been looking in a mirror, I would have seen one (o: And others were at Boston Common. You can hear a good thought while walking by one. I have strung ideas, each of which could help a passerby, while also developing a theme that a lingering listener could take in. Once I preached where no one seemed to be paying attention, but later someone thanked me, maybe who had been out of my view. Others, while they go by, will demonstrate that what you are doing is useless.

It's a case of the sower going forth to sow, and the seed falls on all sorts of ground.

Sometimes, it germinates and grows up. Usually it doesn't.

And in regards to this night at the park, it was in Mexico. The Christians only spoke English, and the man only Spanish. A Mexican woman who was bilingual and a believer just "happened" to be walking by at that opportune time. It still gives me shivers. God is good!

I believe God can and does use street preaching. The key is, waiting on God to direct you rather than doing it in your own strength. You can take a leap of faith by going down there, and making yourself available, but then let God put words in your mouth. And know that many will ridicule or turn away, but God knows who will be affected by it, and so it's worth the effort if he is in control.

God uses other methods, too. One man dying of aids came to a park one night because he heard "beautiful music" and wanted to see what it was. Turned out it was a group of Christians with a guitar singing worship songs. Another women was walking by the park, a believer not a part of this other group, and was able to lead him to the Lord. When a person puts themselves out there in faith and does what they know to do, relying on God to do the rest, it's amazing how he chooses to show up!
