In secular Europe as church attendance has dwindled.

Fewer than 20 percent of people in Western Europe say they go to church twice a month or more. In the United States, a 2006 poll showed that 43 percent of people said they attended church fairly regularly.

Many European churches are working hard to retain younger members.

**The chruch needs to think of intellegent, interesting ways to attract kids today.**

Isn't it a pity that Jesus Himself apparently is no longer enough?

Kids today are smart. Like a post I read before this one, churches need to be able to answer questions that kids ask, not get all mad and kick the kid out of church. The chruch needs to think of intellegent, interesting ways to attract kids today.

children are drawn to Harry Potter, Super Man, Power Rangers, Chris Angel, Spider Man, Wonder Woman. What do all of these things have in common? POWER, THATS RIGHT, If the kids of today don't visualy experience, the POWER with in the church, FEEL the POWER, And PRACTICE IT DAILY, where ACTS 1:8 should be abounding then they will take it to the counterfeit where they see power at every turn.

Today's youth are, on the whole, very undisciplined. They do not like being told what they can and cannot do and I think that the last thing they would want to hear is that they are accountable to God. They are not prepared to be accountable to someone that they CAN see so they are not going to be influenced by the teaching of one that they cannot see. The only churches that I know of with large numbers of young people are the 'easy-listening, never mention sin/repentence/punishment' kind of churches.

let me give you a few, computer games, video games, parents who do'nt take children to church when their small, kids getting into the wrong croud,no biblical bringing up in the home, children has to be taught about the bible and God at a young age if not ,most likely they won't go to church when they get older.the bible say to train up a child in the way he should go and he won't depart from it.

Mima, I personally believe the lack of young people in the churches today is largely due to the lack of true emphasis on scriptural teaching. Many churches today are trying to appeal on a worldly level to the younger people, trying to give them a feeling of "comfort" rather than challenge them with "Thus saith the Lord." See part 2

Part 2 Also, many people, young and old alike, have bought into the belief that there are no ABSOLUTES, choosing rather to accept the "whatever is right for you is okay for you and whatever is right for me is okay for me, mentality.

The major reason for this is that the pastors are more concerned with the adults as they are the financial backbone of the church. Church doors are closing all over this country because of this attitude. When all those money-giving adults die, there will be no church.

We visited a church Sunday night where a friend of ours has recently become pastor. He and his wife were not at the service because they were out with the youth at an event. Their youth leaders had resigned and they were taking care of the youth. Some would have been unhappy if they came to church and the pastor was not there. The service was handled by a very capable minister and church went on as usual and the Holy Spirit moved. That church will continue to grow.

Depends on whose church you're going to, Mima.

Sorry to hear your churches have so few young people. Ours don't.
