Should I Become Blind

I'm a new Christian who is having big problem. Everytime I see a female I get lusty feelings in my heart. I know this is wrong and have prayed but it still happens. The Bible says that I need to gouge out my eyes to keep from sinning. Are their doctors that will do this?

Physical lust is the first step in finding one's mate, whether one is Christian or not. This basic 'hm, that person looks like she/he might make healthy babies' type of lust is not sinful.

But the 'ooh, baby, I gotta get me some of that' type of lust, that has nothing to do with the worth of the other person other than as a quickie, IS wrong.

And do try not to obsess about your lusting/sinning. It's immodest. And frankly, if it's to the point of self-mutilation, it's also dang stupid.

I heard a sermon about Simon Peter and what was said is that "SIMON" means "flesh" and "Peter" means "Rock". We have a fleshly body and a spirit. Now God told us to choose which one we are to serve. Every time you allow lust to enter your heart, you are choosing to serve your body as your god (be a pleasure seeker). Choose ye this day which one you want to serve Joshua 24:15. I'm praying for you.

The lust is in your heart and not your eyes so ripping out your eye would only make you a blind sinner. Change your heart and your vision will improve. The removal of the eye reference was meant to be a dramatic sermon note and not a command as misinterpreted by some more immature bloggers below.

The word says that if we walk in the Spirit we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Resist the devil and he will flee. Walk in the Spirit and trust the "eye" that is given from God. Seek him.
Mainly, pray and avoid acting on the lust.
Repent and trust Christ if you fail.
Do not pluck out an eye.
You're not alone in wondering if you are indeed sincere.
Others have been there.
Being zealous of a good thing is admirable but don't jump to hasty conclusions.

You do NOT need to go to that extreme of harming yourself. The Bible tells us how to keep from sinning. It talks about renewing your mind (changing the way you think), walking in the spirit so you do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, and dieing to your flesh (desires, will, and ways) daily. This will help you if you do these things.

James::If you want perfection, its your Job to resist,While satan continues to Tempt. You shall need your eyes to see, what God is saying, read his word to gain strength.I am blind in one eye. & thank the Lord He has given me a changed Heart to share a bit of his love with respect honesty & yet admire His Creative beauty which crosses our vision.Remember you have A Mother, Sisters, Daughters who need you.A roving eye is a passing Phase. You sin with your MIND not your eyes.

James,
Everyone that is honest knows we are made subject to vanity and the devil will come at us with perverse spirits to torment us. Those who claim never to have a wrong thought are the ones to watch out for. Even Paul said when he did that which he wouldn't knew it was sin in him and not a case of being lost.
Those who claim to never have a bad thought deceive themselves.
Like men that claim to never look at a woman.
What are they? Gay?

James, the problem with Christianity today is that so many have become haughty they no longer are honest enough to admit being human and in need of a saviour. That opens the door to judgmental remarks such as "you need to be saved" rather than answering a question with the rightly divided word of truth in spiritual matters.
If you never had a spirit come at you it would probably be because the devil backed off to let you think you are saved while you walk hand in hand with him.

Not to worry U.K. Alan, Thankyou.

James, you need deliverance. "Lusty" feelings are caused by demons of lust. These demons will torment you every day if you let them. The Bible tells us to bind them up or cast them out. Jesus cast out demons of lust and adultery in Mary Magdeline. Their job is to torment you with lust and if you give into them each and every time, "the wages of sin is death." Just thought I'd let you know that. Find someone who moves in the deliverance ministry or you bind them up.

The Lord said "if thine eye."
That "eye" is the "spirit of man."
That which lusteth to envy.
Too many scriptures to post within the limitations here to explain.
If your spirit of man is fighting the renewal in Christ of the Holy Ghost you need to seek God and pray that "he will increase and you will decrease" and trust in his grace in the meanwhile.

If thine eye:

be single: joined unto the Lord in one Spirit

be light: his Spirit having given life to your spirit

be evil: your spirit seeking to be rich

be darkness: in the way of wickedness or speaking or sharing scripture without the knowledge of God

The eyes (seven Spirits of God) of the Lord are over the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer!

May God bless.

Whisper ... I have to apologise for my somewhat touchy response to yuor suggestion of "pirate patches".
Do you know what? I had not recognised what you had said, and thought you were saying James should go out and buy some chemically saturated patches which would destroy his eyes.
That seems stupid now, but it is really what I thought you had said! And I then thought you were a nutter.

Well yes you make a true and honest point U.K. Allan He just has to ask himself is he ready to suffer for God.

But in all sincerity....I as a female know what he means as I had this problem with a couple of men...totaly taking my breath away, and my brain along with it... married with kids, I backslid into a TRUE STRONGHOLD FROM SATAN HIMSELF... like a spell was put onto me...I fasted and prayed, and WAS DELIVERED ENTIRELY!!!

WEhisper ... An indelible picture of conviction ... Yes, but it will be interpreted as madness, and correctly.
God does not want us to destroy the gifts he has given us.

James ... I thought to reply to this, but wanted to say so much that I stopped. there are others who will explain far better than I could that what is happening to you is natural, provided you keep your thoughts within bounds
What I must say though is ... DO NOT GOUGE YOUR EYES OUT ... and take no notcie of any here who might encourage you to do so "because it is what the Bible says"
In context that passage does NOT tell you to do it.
---alan_of_UK on 12/7/07

I don't believe that gouging your eyes out is necessary...We now have the Comforter, the Holy Spirit to help us and satan and his demons are helpless against Him......
When we rebuke satan in the name of Jesus Christ, he has no choice but to flee.
That is not to say that he will not try again, but we know that satan can be defeated thru Jesus Christ...and so does he!
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and guide you and He will.....
God Bless.

#-1-You need to be delivered from the spirit of lust. Go to someone who's ministry is deliverance or you can deliver yourself. How do you deliver yourself? First clear yourself of all unrighteousness by confessing your and asking him to take it from you. To this by studying and working first John 1:9." If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
---Mima on 12/7/07

#-2- Notice it says, if we confess our sins He forgives them. Therefore it's up to you to accept his forgiveness of these sins. This is for your own peace of mind, your sins once confessed have been forgiven, to say they have not been forgiven would be to call Jesus a liar! May The Lord richly bless you.

No don't ask a Dr. to do it, just go out and buy two pirate patches. Believe me, You will have many people asking you why you are doing this, and when they ask, your opportunity to witness will be HUGE. An indelible picture of conviction will be in their minds until the day they die, they will never forget, that you not only talked the talk....but literally walked the walk and gave it up...for Jesus.
---Whisper on 12/7/07

I'm not sure which translation you're reading this from but lets go back to the Greek manuscripts and we will see it says that if what you are looking at causes you to become entrapped then you are better off without vision. Although you are correct in knowing that lustful feelings are sinful, I doubt that you are entrapped. You are facing something that almost everyone would be guilty of. Get some help from some Godly people on this.
---john on 12/7/07

Just turn and walk away, and sing to the lord in your heart or aloud. Do this every time. Don't dwell on the lust, and it will pass, the Lord will help you.

As a new Christian, it's possible that you need a deliverance from a spirit of lust.
You need to find a pastor and a mens bible study with strong Christian fellowship, accountability.
