InimicusStultitiae:

Yes. It's a good thing God has infinite mercy, or else we'd all be in big trouble! :)
---StrongAxe on 12/24/07

I have never been a person who is overly proud. What I'm proud of is that I have a Christian Mother, God called me at a young age, and I had been taught the Bible from Childhood. I stand always in awe at the things I have as talent or God empowered gifts,I always feel like "Who me?". I'm not humble or proud, just ordinary person who knows my Lord God is my all in all. God took a shy girl and made her a leader, amazing. Whatever I am,God made me,anything I'm not,God kept/protected me from.

StrongAxe, I am just a guy who believes God is more merciful than most folks take Him to be, and putting in my two-cents' worth. Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks, InimicusStultitiae!

I haven't noticed you on here for long, but your posts generally seem to be reasoned and level-headed. (Unfortunately, there are a fair number of people whose posts are confused, uninformed, hysterical, or mean-spirited. But that's as it should be. If only perfect people were allowed, the blogs would be empty.)
---StrongAxe on 12/17/07

StrongAxe, you may be right. I hope so. I was of course describing myself as the egotistical one. By the way, I generally like your posts a lot. Merry Christmas! I.S.

InimicusStultitiae:

I think it depends a lot on a person's motive for replying.

If it's to make sure he's heard, or to get the last word, of for others to believe what HE says, then the motive is ego (which is pride).

If it's just to educate people, or give them something to think about (to let them come to their own conclusions), then it's not aboug ego.

James 1:22-23

22. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

I heard this scripture plainly as I was waking up.
If our waking hours are spent glorifying our own reputation, amassed wealth or mental faculties, it is deception.

23. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.

The blogs are swept clean after so many replies, wiping all pride away.
Wouldn't it be interesting if everyone had a pride detector, this would make the Moderator's job easier.

But there is a pride detector, The Holy Spirit.
---lovable_linda on 12/13/07

Inimicus S., you are correct.

It would be impossible to make your "maker's mark" on these blogs. This site does not belong to us. Firstly and more importantly, it is dedicated to the Lord.

InimicusStultitiae: or, maybe we have a sense of humor.
---j._nonymous on 12/13/07

No truly humble person would be making his or her mark on these blogs. Our need to be heard and recognized here is a sure sign of our great pride and egocentrism.

Didn't Mac Davis sing something about this?
Maybe:

O' Lord it's hard to be humble,
when you're buddies with Jesus the King,
He just can't wait for your rising,
so that...he can hear...you sing!
He can't wait to hear all of your views,
on each and e-v-e-r-y thing,
O' Lord it's hard to be humble,
when you're buddies with Jesus the King!

I'm proud to be humble. And I'm so humble to admit I'm proud. Ha ha.

teachings of pastors are immature & childish. they could not SPECIFY the issues that is why their message is always point to sin & it is vague, rigid & absolute. that is why when you turn the tables on them they begin to question their own absolute religion, rigid rules, vague verses. that is why some christians act & think immature.

Don't answer the question! It's a trick!

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?"

So, I guess we're all prideful. I just try to do my best.

Someone said to me one time, "If you spend too much time trying to change yourself, you miss the redemptive work of the cross".

The whole reason he died is because mankind could answer this question with a resounding "yes".

His grace is sufficient for me.

christians point the finger at themselves? from my experience they are quick to 'wash their hands' by questioning the question bec they do not want to be inconvenience. they also say 'ye not judge' bec they don't know the difference bet judging & rebuking.
---mike_how on 12/11/07

I'm full of pride. :( But always reaching for humility.
---kady on 12/11/07

Humble people won't answer that question. I have answered, so... guess what...

A humble heart repents quickly. A humble heart doesn't accuse others of being the problem in their lives, they point the finger at themselves, and say, "Lord have mercy on me." Try getting a spirit of pride to repent, you can't. When I tried to tell my friend that God showed me why he's not answering her prayers, she ripped me to pieces with false accusations that hurt and told me "I am walking very closely with the Lord, so you shut up." Is that a spirit of pride speaking?

I read Matthew 6 frequently, and battle the desire for praise and attention. I have posted on my refrigerator door "Simplicity is holy." I know there can even be pride in humility. But I will keep on trying.
