evangelistjerry and Eloy, thank you very much for your latest postings.

.rita, That is a common misconception of westerners. According to scripture, there are two ways to count a day: sundown at even up to sundown the next day at even is 1 day (which is actually counted 2 of our daytimes in our western hemisphere), or from sunrise up to sunrise the next day (which is counted 1 daytime in the west). I do not follow creeds, only the Holy Scripture, and I start counting the 3 days from Thursday night when innocent Jesus was taken (ie: falsely arrested) by man.

Rita and all those that say it WAS not three full days please read Matthew 12:40, it says he would be in the heart of the earth 3 days AND 3 nights.
---evangelistjerry on 12/17/07

Eloy it is interesting that you count the 3 days and nights from the passover. Most people start counting from the crucifixion. The Apostles Creed says "born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven." etc. From the crucifixion on Friday to the Resurrection on Sunday is 2 part days and one whole day not 3 whole days and Thursday isn't any of those days.

Let us count and see, for a child is able to count to three: Beginning Thursday night (Luke 22:53)= 1, and Friday morning= 1 + Friday night= 2, and Saturday morning= 2 + Saturday night= 3, and Sunday morning= 3. Thus 3 nights + 3 days, just as he said.

The question is, would it affect your faith at all if you learned that Jesus rose on a day different from the one you thought He rose on?

All the following verses use the words 'on the third day' not 'after 3 days'.
Matthew 16:21, 17:23, 20:19.
Luke 9:22, 18:33, 24:7: 24:46.
Acts 10:40.
1 Corinthians 15:4

Yes, Jesus had his last Passover supper on Thursday April 14, 28 A.D. at 6:00 p.m. when Jesus was 32 years old. Afterwards was his arrest, abuse and crucifixion (ref: Luke 22:53). Sunday morning, 3 days after Jesus' last Passover supper is Jesus' Resurrection Day, celebrated on the first Sunday after the date of the first full moon that happens on or after the vernal equinox of March 21st.

I am very saddened by the many confused bloggers on this forum who dont even know their bible well..Read the bible friends, pray and ask for guidance..your all mixed up and your answers are all not biblical..the bible will explain itself if you spend time in it..

Therefore Jesus was in the tomb BEFORE the sabbath thursday(before 6p.m.Jewish day begins at 6pm)He was in the tomb from wednesday night to friday night and was ressurrected on the Sabbath(saturday). Our Savior was resurrected on the Sabbath, for he IS LORD OF THE Sabbath.

The only sign Yeshua gave us was that he was in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights..and he definitely knew HOW LONG THAT WAS GOING TO BEJn11:9-10.

Mima, my scenario would be 2 part days (Friday and Sunday) and one whole 24 hour day. That is 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) not 3. The days might not actually have been Fri. Sat. and Sun. but 'on the third day' (whichever 3 you choose) would only have TWO nights. Rather like the spaces between 12 lamp posts is only 11.

4) 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments, and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

the women PREPARED spices and oinment AND RESTED THE SABBATH according to the COMMANDMENT.

so AFTER the sabath they BOUGHT AND PREPARED spices and ointments THEN they RESTED ACCORDING TO THE COMMANDMENT.

5)We know from the beginning God's Holy day is Saturday, so they rested on this day, Then the day BEFORE Saturday is a Friday when they BOUGHT spices, Thursday was the FIRST DAY of Unleavened Bread holy convocation.

Now we have the days in order Yeshua died BFORE the First day of Unleavened Bread, women bought spice after the 15th first day of unleavend bread, rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment!

So there were 2 Sabbaths on the weeks Yeshua died according to scriptures..

2)Ritah..
Jesus died on WEDNESDAY PREPARATION DAY, NEXT DAY WAS A HIGHDAY SABBATH(Mark33-42 CR to LEV23. for he IS THE PASSOVER LAMB)

High day CAN BE ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, it's called ceromonial sabbaths(YEARLY), not the Sabbath(weekly)

Therefore Christ DIED ON WEDNESDAY.

THURSDAY HIGH DAY passed

FRIDAY Mary bought SPICES Mark16:1

Saturday Sabbath they rested according to the commandment( WEEKLY)

SUNDAY BEFORE light Jesus was ALREADY RISEN TOMB WAS EMPTY!

1)Christ was the true LAMB of God, HE had to fufill everything according to the SCRIPTURES even the time of the lamb of the OT was slained. God WORKS IN PATTERN!

Biblically, the Lords Passover was ONE DAY in length on the 14th of Nisan (Num 28:16, Lev 23:5) while Unleavened Bread lasted seven days from the 15th to the 21st of Nisan. This made the entire festival eight days in duration (Num 28:17, Lev 23:6).

2)Unleavened Bread OFFICIALLY STARTS ON THE 15 of Nisan, Yaweh commanded in Exodus 12:16 that the "FIRST DAY there shall be an HOLY CONVOCATION" no work should be done on the First Day of the Unleavened bread.

This "holy convocation can land on ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, as long as it is THE 15. but the day Yeshua died we can figure out the 15th was a Thursday BECAUSE

3)Mark 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Mark said "WHEN THE SABBATH PASSED" they bought spices,

LUKE 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

Ritah

In Mark 7:13, Christ STRONGLY warns against making the word of God of NONE EFFECT through YOUR tradition.

Did Christ UNDERSTAND the length of a day or the length of a night? He did! In John 11:9-10, He asked...

Are there not TWELVE HOURS in a day?But if a man walk in the night, he stumbles.

To--RitaH --- where in your scenario are the three nights?
---Mima on 12/13/07

The bible says the 'third day' not 'after 3 x 24 hour days' (as far as I know - correct me if I'm wrong). Friday is day one (regardless of the time) Saturday is day two and Sunday is day three (again regardless of the time) so Sunday was the third day but it wasn't 3 days after Friday, it was only 2.
---RitaH on 12/13/07

The Resurrection was discovered on a Sunday morning about day break. In Judaism the day begins a sundown. He had to be in the tomb for not less than 72 hours. Passover is a Special Sabbath which can be on any day of the week. John proves Christ was crucified on the afternoon prior to Passover. There has to be a day between the two Sabbaths when the markets are open for the women to purchase the spices to anoint the body. Get you pencil out and figure it out. You have enough facts now to build a time line.
