Chris your 1/14/08 post was beautifully stated and sums pure religion up in a nut shell. Amen lisa, Jesus is LORD. All praise is due the Father alone, for all empowerment is of Him, through the indwelling presence of His Spirit.
---josef on 1/19/08

a false religion is one who does not accept Jesus as Lord God and Savior Redeemer of the World.
The truth is Jesus and the truth will set you free.
those who preach the gospel and believe it and accept Jesus as the Christ and Messiah are in the real faith!
---lisa on 1/15/08

False religion is the opposite of "pure religion" as mentioned by James (James 1:27)"Pure religion and undefiled before God is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world". I take this to mean - follow the golden rule as it pertains to others, and to follow the commandments as to personal purity to show our acceptance and love and obedience to God.
---chris on 1/14/08

I think we best protect ourselves and our familes by familiarizing ourselves intellectually and through daily practice with those things that make us more Christ-like. Pharisees were great scriptorians, but were horrible at practicing "pure religion". Heathens know not the gospel, but may have a good heart and good actions. We should know the Word and be practicing it in humility and love every day.
---chris on 1/14/08

One other thing that I think applies is that we need to keep it pure and simple. I don't know where my Mom heard it, but she mentioned that we should read the scriptures for their basic message, not to dissect it. She seemed to say that we lose sight of its meaning if we turn it into a cold hard hearted science. We should read it for its beauty and inspiration. I believe that is where its power and truth is at, not in theological intricacies.
---chris on 1/14/08

Actually it is quite easy. A false religion has a foundation built upon the teachings of people, dead or alive, other then the teachings of Jesus and Him alone, given to us by His eyewitnesses. John 14:26.

*I want to ask you,... is it hard for you to follow the laws, is that why you dispute it so much? *

I believe that all I really need to do to please God is to show love toward my neighbor. In doing that I effectively fulfill the law.

Romans 13:9 The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, not murder, not steal, not covet, and any other commandment, are summed up in this word You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

With that I don't have to lug a law book around with me.

I want to ask you something personal Lee, is it hard for you to follow the laws, is that why you dispute it so much? I am talking about the ten commandments, the basics of sexual immorality & any type of witchcraft? I am not talking about the food laws, because CHRIST told us not to preach it, but revelations makes it quite clear, they will follow the laws of moses and the lamb. what do you suppose that means?
---dawngordon on 1/14/08

Lee, It would really be nice IF you were right and I wish it was like that too. The evidence against your belief is mighty heavy. What is in the ark of the covenant that comes down out of heaven? Can you find (outside of Paul) where Jesus said that His grace was sufficent? Or that He changed the covenant? Please show me.
---Dr._Rich on 1/11/08

darngordon - *Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill" (Matthew 5:17).*

And Christ did fulfill the law and even redeemed us from the law that we might become His adopted sons & daughters.

Gal. 4:4,5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
---Lee on 1/11/08

the laws:they still exist when you are Christian

Titus#3

9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law, for they are unprofitable and vain.

10A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject,

11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill" (Matthew 5:17).

*Rev14:12 They "Keep the Commandments of God and the Faith of Jesus" Do you Keep the 10 Commandments Lee?*

Yes, I do try hard to keep all of God's commandments but I do not keep those that only pertain to the Jewish nation.

There are only 2 commandments that St. John speaks of in Rev. 14:12 - 1) to believe in the name of Gods son Jesus, & 2) to love our neighbor. 1 John 3:22-24

You may note that love of neighbor fulfills the law (Romans 13:9)

Lee's Answer is designed to incite prejudice against the SDA Church that holds every doctrine up by multiple scriptures from the Holy Bible. Rev14:12 They "Keep the Commandments of God and the Faith of Jesus" Do you Keep the 10 Commandments Lee?

I like Lee's answer to this question.

confused by this posting, are you talking about one of the four creatures?? those are denominations of churchs, it's very clear in revelations 14, it says the elders, so if that is what you mean just stick to scriptures and do not get brainwashed by denominations

False religions almost always speak of a high respect for the Bible but usually have other 'authoritative sources' such as the writings of Ellen White or Book of Mormons.

Secondly, false religions are very selective of laws taken from the Bible. They usually cherry pick selected laws from the Bible such as Sabbath keeping and make that the criteria for judgment - much like the Pharisees did with Jesus.

We protect ourselves from false religions by abiding in Christ & His word.
---lee on 1/8/08

Tactic #1 of a false religion will be to express opinion rather than show you the Bible. Tactic #2 will be to use snipets of scripture out of context. Tactic #3 Will be to deny at least one if not all of the 10 Commandments and teach you are free to sin as you please since Jesus has you covered.

Rev 14:12 "the saints keep the Commandments of God and the Faith of Jesus"

Why do you beleive we are in the very Last Days?
People have thought that for the last 2000 years

A white horseman of false religion...I don't remember any white horseman in Revelation promoting false religion. In Revelation 6:2, we see one on a white horse conquering, but this horseman is not specified to be using false religion, but "had a bow".

And, in Revelation 19:11, "Faithful and True" rides a white horse.
Jesus, of course, would not be bringing false religion.

(2) One tactic of false religion is found in Galatians 4:17 > "They zealously court you, but for no good, yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them." There are false religion people who will treat you like you are so great and important...showing you acceptance in order to get you crazy about them - - - a trick witch also gets people into false marriage and false love...isolating you so they can then use you for what they want.

3). That, of course, is only possible through His Spirit, and is the method by which our spiritual armor is secured. 'The shield of faith'-steadfast, unwavering confidence in the omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence and sovereignty of our Father and the power of His Word. Our protection against all the temptations and trials that The Antichrist brings against us as we advance the cause of righteousness. 'The sword of the Spirit'-the word of God, the weapon of our warfare. Cont.

4). Satan can not withstand the word of God and falls back as we move in to claim God's promises by speaking His words faithfully. Having done so we are to stand, as we abide in, rely on, and depend upon Him for fulfillment. We are to be ever prepared with the gospel of peace, always ready to share the good news of His superimposed peace, provided through an awareness and assurance of His salvation, to anyone standing in the crossroads of life, regardless of opposition.

1).Offer thanksgiving the Father with all praise. We have the privilege of accepting by faith, the whole armor of God. 'The helmet of salvation'-as the awareness of our salvation through the finished work of Christ Jesus. Symbolizing the protection of our minds from the lies, deceptions, doubts and fears antichrists attempts place there. 'The breast plate of righteousness'-knowing in our hearts that the Father considers us righteous by the faith of Jesus and that we have been reconciled to Him. Cont.

2). This symbolizes the protection of our new focus in life, influenced, empowered and directed of God. A focus directed towards His righteousness through His faith. Trusting and confessing that Christ presents us to the Father Holy and acceptable by what He has done, rather than what we may or may not have done in our finiteness and fallibility. 'The belt of truth'-a superimposed knowledge and understanding of the Father's word and His wisdom to apply it. Cont.

Why doesn't anyone believe in the Holy Spirit?
I've heard others say that it's impossible to intigrate the teachings of Jesus in real life, that it's just not practical. These are supposed Christians.
There's life in the Holy Spirit and then there's what everyone else is doing, just show them plan A in what you do and they'll believe and follow Jesus.
