To Whosoever has an ear to hear?

Fear stems from our lack of confidence in the 'Hopes of Faith in Christ'!

So cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward....that, after we have done the Will of God, we might receive the Promise. For but yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: 'Justified by Works of Faith'(James 2:21,24) but if any man draw back(do to fear), my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who (do to lack of confidence) draw back unto perdition: 'For God hasn't given us the spirit of fear but of power,Love & sound mind'(2Tim.1:7) ~ to the saving of the soul. {Heb.10:35-39}

When the desciples were on the boat and the storm came up, the scriptures said they feared. Remember they went to Christ and woke him up.

Christ said, "Oh ye of little faith." He did not say "Oh ye of no faith."

God's people have faith. It is a delt to every child of God - Rom 12:3.

(in my humble opinion) Fear, in the sense you are speaking of, is a lack of excercise of the faith we possess.
---trey on 10/21/08

In my opinion, the answer is no.

Fear is a biochemical reaction programmed into us by God, so that we would avoid danger.

I'll bet the three Hebrew Children were pretty scared by the firey funace. But they OVERCAME their very natural fear by faith in God.

The Bible abounds in examples, too numerous to name.

Remember, Jesus said,
"Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world"

Fear has many meanings. The fear of the Lord is an awe, a reverential awestruck respect for Him and His all encompassing power and glory. The fear from the devil is in my opinion more than just the opposite of faith, rather it is indeed different. The Bible doesn't say that faith casts out fear, but rather that perfect love casts out fear. Joyce Meyer said If every new Christian was taught on the love of God for the 1st 3 years, much of the rest would come easy. Faith works thru love. And His love is unconditional, so it is the anchor that holds, & IMHO all other things come from it. God loves you!=o)

I believe fear of God is the beginning of understanding. And I also believe we should work out our salvation in fear and trembling. Those kind of fears cancel out silly little fears like what will so-and-so say if I say such-and-such.
---frances on 2/28/08

sometimes this spirit of fear overcomes us, and to overcome this fear we need to trust in and love God completely. It says in 1 John 4:18, There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. However, no one is perfect, and God knows this. So He has liberally sprinkled encouragement against fear throughout the Bible. Beginning in the Book of Genesis and continuing throughout the Book of Revelations God tells us to Fear not.
---Court7646 on 2/28/08

The ONLY type of fear that the Bible describes as good is the Fear of the Lord (brings wisdom). All other fear is described as the opposite of faith or lack of faith.

The just shall live by faith.

Others live by fear and anxiety.
---Cindy on 2/22/08

Behold the proud
His soul is not upright in him.
But the just shall live by faith.

Habakkuk 2:4
---Cindy on 2/22/08

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the Power of God to salvation for everyone who believes,
....
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith,
as it is written,
"The just shall live by faith."

Romans 1:16,17

All I will say is yes and no. God is the one to fear, we are not to fear humans, they can kill us but then what can they do? After we are dead, God will judge us and what God thinks of us is what we should fear. If you want me to go deaper in this subject than mail me and I will Terry5638, May God Bless you and take your fear away!
---terry5638 on 1/23/08

to catherine - who creates the fear? christians/pastors preach sin & punishment then makes & points everything to sin or say 'it is not biblical'. is that straight from hell? job's neighbor pointed to sin when he was suffering, the pharisees pointed to sin when they saw the blind man. that is what christians would say when they see a person suffering - bec. of sin & the result = fear
---noah on 1/22/08

Satan pours fear out upon you. Right straight out of hell. Your faith or the lack of it will detertmine whether you RUN or stay and fight. Your spiritual weapons are at hand. People who does nor seem to be bothered with this demonic stuff well, I just do not understand it. Please keep in mind that God will and does give us victories over the devil. This type of fear and intimidation that I am speaking of, is only a weapon that satan uses to get you to draw back.
---catherine on 1/22/08

Fear is faith in the wrong things. Think about it. Your faith is going to work for you wherever you plant and water it. According to the Word of God, your faith will produce. Look what happened to Job, "That which I have feared the most has come upon me." If you put faith or fear in the negative things, then that is what you're going to receive.
---Troy on 1/22/08

Catherine, your comments are encouraging.

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil,
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
For verily he took not on him the nature of angels, but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Hebrews 2:14-16

Hi Catherine, I sure liked your answer--loved it dear! :) That's how I'm feeling lately with another bout of shingles pain and nerves--like I'm shaking on all 16 legs but moving forward in Christ. :) Bless you :)
---Mary on 1/18/08

Ooops, I just re-read, I meant all 16 guns lol! Definitely shaking but only 2 legs to shake hehehe! :D
---Mary on 1/18/08

jesus said, don,t fear him who can kill you,but fear him who can cast your soul into the lake of fire.
---tom2 on 1/16/08

I asked God about this the other day. What a great God we serve. No, it is not a sign of lack of faith, not if you keep going in spite of shakey legs.>>> Anyone can do what what they do if they have sixteen guns, lots of friends, sixteen lawyers on the side. It takes absolute real courage to go out with only God by your side. Shakey legs and all. Don't listen to the devil on these things, please. Shake on.

Blog,
How about the fear of the Lord?
Jack,
I hope everything goes as best as it can with the dialysis.

Kella there is a Spirit that seeks only Christ, it's a spirit of worship, that seeks always to please and connect with Jesus, no shrinking back. Follow and as the likeness of God grows from knowing the one God has sent, fear melts into peace as the Spirit satisfies the longings of the heart, all but one.

The urgency to see the Kingdom of God, and to find community with like minded people. Obtain that pearl and trade it for nothing and fear becomes a pointless empty road to rise above. Isa. 58:14
---Pharisee on 1/15/08

scripture tells us that fear is not of god, atleast in the spirit.for god has not given us a spirit of fear, but of a sound mind.

pt2,now remember we are in the flesh,so fear is part of life,as are other emotions which we can control through faith in jesus.
---tom2 on 1/15/08

Today, fear has enveloped the world. We have become a generation of constant fear caused by what you read in the newspapers and watch on TV - terrorism, gang violence, kidnappings, wars/rumors of war, school shootings, taking the wrong medications, driving in traffic, am I raising my child right, am I eating the right foods, and the list goes on. Satan surely has a tight grip on today's generation. There is only one fear - the fear of God. For man can kill the body, but God can kill the body and soul.
---Steveng on 1/15/08

Fear is a lack of LOVE. "Perfect love casts out fear."
---InimicusStultitiae on 1/15/08

Kella3336
The only thing that should be feared is the Lord, for this is Wisdom (Job 28:28)

Fear of the world is Ignorance, it is a result of the absence of confidence & belief of the Lords Word.

The level of our confidence & belief of the Lords Word is what strengthens our Faith.

Faith being the substance (Gods promises) of things hoped for, and the evidence (the manifestations of the fruits of the Spirit) of things unseen.

If I feel fear creeping in on a situation(and I sometimes do feel it trying To gain a foothold). I like to quote scripture. Fear is not of the Lord Scripture says, and I tell whoever is listening(and for sure one of the people listening is the deceiver") that God is in control and that I'm going to rest in God's hands.
---Mima on 1/15/08

There can be faith while responding to something which gives fear. I'm afraid of heights, and the dark, not random fears, conditioned responses. Fear of Heights,as child heard story of cousin who nearly dropped his baby off bridge,I fear mountains and bridges. Fear of Dark, three years old lived in large apartment building, night, police herded tenants into basement checking for intruder, frightened. Though I have fear I pray in faith and make it through that paticular occurance, putting fear under faith.
---Darlene_1 on 1/15/08

I have fear of heights.
If I am in a high building and look directly down, I get this feeling in the pit of my stomach.

God is always in control of every situation but we still concern ourselves about things because we don't know what God has in mind doing in our situation and its the lack of control not being able to do anything ourselves that makes us feel this way.God knows whats best and the answer its not always what we want or pray for.I don't think its always fear sometimes I think its concern about what his answer will be.
---judy on 1/14/08

More than anything else Jesus taught "fear not." Financial ethics was second.

The natural inclination from within to be fearful is the response of the flesh to not trust in what God has promised when the heat is on.

The TRUTH is there is nothing in this life to be fearful of, because anything that gets to a believer even the consequence of sin has to go through a sovereign God named Jesus Christ.
---Pharisee on 1/14/08

Yes and no. It depends.
---j._nonymous on 1/14/08

Whether we have fear or not, if it is a sin or not, we are to told to come boldly before the throne of God. We are promised His full armour of faith that we can resist the temptor.

The fact that we all have some fear at times doesn't make it okay. Fear is a lack of trust that God has everything in control and you have nothing to worry about. I would say that all fear is based on a lack of trust in God. I doubt that anyone can show me a Scripture to support that I have a legitimate excuse to be fearful.
---john on 1/14/08

Perfect love casts out fear according to the Bible. In staying with the Word of God, I would have to say that fear is the opposite of love & faith and in conflict with Gods love. Without love we are nothing. We become afraid when we are outside of the Holy Spirit and are not in"faith working through love". Faith working through love is the bottom line:)
---jody on 1/14/08

No. Even when someone is faith about something fear may come, but 2Corinthians 10:5 tells us to take every thought captive.
---Rickey on 1/14/08

Not always. Sometimes, it's just the fear of the unknown.

I'm facing going on kidney dialysis soon, and I will admit I'm afraid at times.

But it's about the PRESENT fear and uncertainty--which is my PRESENT appointed cross--I say, "Thy will be done," and they become eaiser to manage.

the reason there is fear is bec. everything is pointed to sin. If you discuss a topic, christians & pastors will say SIN or it is not biblical. they will tell you to work in the name of obedience. but the issues are still unresolved. then the christians & pastors who say the topic is sin, they break their own rules. what a hypocrite

Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear is not of God. Faith is the climax and outgrowth of doubt. And doubt is the most destructive force has concerns faith. Fear paralyze faith. Were plate produces action and trust.
