That Scripture does not say "one who confesses that Jesus is the Son of God" but instead "that Jesus Christ IS COME in the flesh". To confess that Jesus Christ IS COME (present tense)in the flesh is to confess that He is raised from the dead and living in a people. Yes, even the demons say He is the Son of God but none of them can ever say He IS COME in the flesh. Big difference.
---Linda on 4/1/08

Also, no man calling Jesus accursed speaks by the Spirit of God and no man can call Jesus Lord but by the Holy Ghost. Then there are those who are still calling fire down from the sky to consume those who disagree with them and Jesus says of them, "You don't know what spirit you are of." And then you have those who know who Jesus is but don't have a clue what He came to do. Jesus says, "Get thee behind me satan for you know not the things of God."
---Linda on 4/1/08

Leslie that does not mean one thing. For even Satan declares that Jesus is the Son of God. Futhermore, I've already tried it on an absolute, bonified, demon possessed person. Guess what? He was able to say it. I was amazed, but I learned.
---catherine on 3/7/08

Cindy if we used your list personally about 99.99% of all the people I've met in my life qualify. Not all humans are demons, some just happen to be matureing humans. I would agree that the Devil tries to develop insecurities in people that make them clingy or control, that is not possession. It is fear, and natural, but can be overcome thru God's grace.
---dan on 3/7/08

The Bible says that we test the spirits by asking them to say that Jesus is the Christ, and that Jesus came in the flesh. If they do NOT say either one or both of these, then the spirit is of the DEVIL.
---Leslie on 3/6/08

Superstition and witchcraft, fairies, leprechauns and demons. Demonic shows, whimsical but evil concoctions.

Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, that's where the battle lines are drawn.
---Cindy on 2/11/08

If I come in contact with someone and something just isn't right with their spirit, I ask God if they are one of his, and for him to reveal the truth. He hasn't failed me yet. He seperates the sheep from the goats that's for sure.

The spirit of witchcraft likes abnormal attention, but most importantly, attention behind the scenes. People operating in witchcraft don't want to share your attention with others but want to keep you totally for themselves.

A person operating in the spirit of witchcraft focuses conversations around themselves. They want to talk about them, them, them and them.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

They don't like to talk about anybody or anything else and as soon as you try to change the subject they will quickly cut the conversation short. These conversations are extremely abnormal and signify a bizarre attempt to cut off any other normal relationships in life.
They become angry when they cannot direct that attention back to themselves.
It is manipulation of the worst kind.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

People who walk in witchcraft will persuade you that they have intellectual superiority about them.
They think that they have it altogether and you don't. If they can get you to lose your composure publicly by putting you on the spot, then they will. They will push you out on the proverbial limb for all to see. They are not only manipulative, but they can act super spiritual and overly enthusiastic about their intelligence while mocking what little they think others have.

Testing the spirits
Here's a subtle weapon of witchcraft and a way of testing - the time thief.

Witchcraft controllers spend abnormal amounts of time with their victims

The man that smothers his girlfriend with inordinate attention.

The parent that leans on children because of reoccurring emergencies.

The husband that keeps his wife so busy that she has no time for anything else.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

The believer that wants to meet with the pastor each week to talk about the same old, same old.

The teacher who drowns the student with excessive tutoring

The friend that never goes home

The boss that continually has you in his office to sit and listen

Witchcraft will go out of the way to control and waste your time. It's not a natural thing, it's a spiritual thing.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

"Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbor's house, lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee" (Proverbs 25:17 KJV).

In the church, we can see the spirit of witchcraft operating through the person who wants to hold a deep spiritual conversation with the pastor right before he approaches the pulpit to speak.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

Is there anyone who spends abnormal amounts of time with you either in person or on the phone?

Is there anyone who continually consumes or desires your time, especially when you should be in church?

Have you ever noticed the person who wants to have a spiritual conversation with you during the most reverent time of a church service and distract you?

Have you ever noticed someone directing the conversation toward all aspects of their life and complete disinterest in yours?
---Cindy on 2/10/08

Those under witchcraft's control think they never do anything wrong.

When caught, they say there is nothing for which to repent. They tell you directly, "I haven't done anything wrong." Or, "I did what I thought was right. I don't have anything to feel sorry about." They never manifest any true repentance or humility.

Whatever humility or flattery they may demonstrate is false and used only as a tool to manipulate you.

Superficial repentance is a common witchcraft deception. Beware of their motives because witchcraft never examines self and witchcraft lies without batting an eye.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

Does this person ever make you feel that everything is always your fault?

Do you know someone that always blames their problems on someone else?

Have people told you they were sorry but you knew they weren't?

Some of the ways to test the spirits.
---Cindy on 2/10/08

How to test the spirits - USE the WORD of GOD. If what they are saying does NOT line up with the Bible, it IS FALSE doctrine (a LIE).
---Leslie on 2/9/08

" Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world...They are of the world, so they speak of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God: he that knows God hears us, he that is not of God doesn't hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." 1 Jn. 4:1, 5-6.

False prophets are consumate liars/deceivers, conceited & enemies to God's inspired Bible.

Donna that reminds me. God said to me, "Listen with your ears and not your emotions". A very good lesson for me.
---catherine on 1/23/08

Ask for the Gift of the Discerning of Spirits. Listen to what people are saying. If you are filled with truth, you will recognize a lie, and also something that is evil and not of God. For example, someone devoured me with his spirit of pride and resentment. As soon as I detected it, I asked him, "are you sure you're a christian baptized in the Holy Ghost?" He said yes and then months later he wrote to me telling me he's been dying to his flesh ever since.
---Donna on 1/23/08

Other ways to test the spirits are:
If someone is complaining about someone else, they have a root of bitterness.
If someone repeats an offense, then they haven't forgiven that person-and they have unforgiveness.
I once met a man who deeply resented his son for wanting to lead his grandfather's ulogy. I couldn't believe how he downed his son for months on end. Finally I asked if he had resentment towards him and he said no, but his "fruit" was rotten and the son eventually died.
---Donna on 1/23/08

Have we ever chatted here about a spirit of rebellion and rejection? They symptoms of it? How it manifests in a person? This is running rampant in the church today.
The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is easily detected: It's love, peace, joy, kindness, patience, long suffering, self-control, etc., You can easily tell if a person is manifesting these, then they are of God and of His Holy Spirit, amen?

god test our spirts every day by giving us challenges the choice we make is the one that will affect us in some way times do get hard but if it wasn't then how could show him no matter what we love him
---marcos on 1/16/08

Try this: Learn what Jesus taught given to us by His eyewitnesses (Jn.14:26) Now if anything does not agree, then it is not of the Holy Spirit. Suddenly you will see that Paul must have been duped by Satan. Jesus sowed truth (wheat) and Satan (by Paul) sowed lies (tares) and the New Testament is the field. For proof read 'THE SPIRIT OF THE CHURCH' by Neufeld and Sterling.

Sometimes, I think the only reason I'm sticking around, to pray for the APP of one.
I'm certain that you would like to see me go as you've pushed many others off of these boards. I know the routine, I know the APP that are the strongarms and I know the APP that need humor, constant attention, adoration, care and sympathy.
I know the APP that mocks, spanks and "beats" the others up.
---lovable_linda on 1/16/08

But in the end, whoever goes first, I thank you for sharpening me up.
Names are coming more rapidly, I see more clearly, all of the obstacles have disappeared. I know the APP almost every time they come at me and the routine.
It is spiritual. May God give you the victory over it.

Accountability personality partners.
Years ago, they met me at the door, when I wanted to blog.
Anger, confrontation and manipulation, my first introduction. Those partners have not changed. Through the continual conflict, I have tried to love the accountability personality partners.
---lovable_linda on 1/16/08

APP, Accountability Personality Partners have helped me in many ways. Iron sharpens iron.
I know when I'm being strongaxed and it doesn't move me. I know when the APP are giving far too many details to cover their tracks, and I feel nothing but sadness and a sick feeling when I see the spin.
---lovable_linda on 1/16/08

God gives warning about those of another spirit.
External, internal and through confirmation.

Exp. Names of others are given by the Holy Spirit to pray for. Those names are confirmed immediately through "accountability partners aka alternative personalities", when lo and behold, those names are used, before the next breath, they suddenly appear.
Confirmation.
---lovable_linda on 1/16/08

By the Holy Spirit, you can test the spirits.

Accountability partners are alternative personalities for one. But the same spirit is present throughout.
That is why it so easy to know them without actually seeing them. The same spirit speaks and does reveal itself in the valleys and mountain tops. Exp. Mt. Hood lures others but is treacherous, all at the same time.

There's an old Shaolin saying that says "he who asserts himself does not shine."
There's a fine line between ambition and higher motives and calamity lay at either side of the chasm.

Other spirits assert themselves in the dark from their own perspective, American Pop culture marches to it's cadence, but wisdom cries aloud in the streets, there's an activity to higher thinking a hungry searching, and chasing and the Spirit that satisfies the awesome demand for truth is holy. Matt 5:6

Dottie
True, not every spirit is of God? It is only the Holy Spirit that is of God.

To test the Holy Spirit is to walk in the Spirit, Looking for and Expecting to see the fruits of the Spirit, in all that you put your hand to.
---Shawn.M.T on 1/15/08

How do we apply the Word to ourselves first? Get to know Him so intimately through worship and study of His Word. Jesus rebuked the "sons of thunder", James and John, He said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of." (Luke 9:55) When He asks us to do something, do we obey gladly, or do we have a negative attitude? Help me, Lord, to serve You with gladness and to know what manner of spirit I am of. I pray that all of my thoughts, words, and deeds are drenched in Your love!

By what doctrine comes with it.

Once upon a time I heard one of these supposed prophets stand up in the pulpit and deny the physical resurrection of Christ.

What interesting answers to this question. "Emotions have motives" is totally new to me. Also ---MikeM'S answers are different. --- I think "
Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
every spirit that confesses not Jesus is come in the flesh is not of God, and is the spirit of antichrist."1 John 4:2-3 says it best.
---Mina on 1/15/08

The Bible says in 1 John 4:1-3 that if the spirit confesses that Jesus Christ "is come in the flesh", than that spirit is of God, if the spirit refuses to confess that Jesus "is come in the flesh", than it is a spirit of antichrist. I always demand every spirit to either confess that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, or to flee.

Jesus is "gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls," we have in Matthew 11:29, which Jesus Christ said while He was in the flesh. So, I would say the emotions of His Holy Spirit are gentle and humble with "rest for your souls" (((o:

Emotions have motives. Dominating and cruel emotions and feelings would have Satan's motive of keeping us weak so he can control us and keep our attention away from God.

The best way in a short amount of time -

Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
every spirit that confesses not Jesus is come in the flesh is not of God, and is the spirit of antichrist.
1 John 4:2,3

It the spirit is not of God, you will find confusion, condemnation, strife and division.
1 Cor 3:3
Eph 5:3
Jas 3:14-18

How to try the spirits.
1 John 4:1-3

Peace, love, joy, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, longsuffering, kindness, goodness will be present.

Spirits not of God, you will find lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:19

Where you find the spirit of lust, you will find adultery, fornication, drunkenness
Witchcraft, idolatry, sorcery
Jealousy, hatred, envy, murder
Wrath, strife, temper, anger, division

1.Paul says to test the spirits, here is one way. Bring home books that are questionable, but first 'switch book covers' with bland books. When someone comes into the home claiming they 'are full of the spirit' see if they can discern the 'questionable books.' If not, you have learned what they are full of. This really works.

2. A second way to 'test' the spirits. If in a pentacostal church try this. When they are 'talking in tounges' have a small tape recorder hidden on you. You and a 'trusted friend' quote Shakespeare for the Bible, see what happens. Do it several times. When you get a response, you will have discerned the spirits, you have tested the spirits. (Do not let anyone know you have done this, or literally your life will be on the line, this I know.)
---MikeM on 1/14/08

We test the spirits by careful verse by verse, chapter by chapter, and book by book Bible Study, 2 Timothy 2 14-19.

Also we should follow the example found in Acts 17:11.

I am willing to say those who are NOT truly of God DO NOT want you to do these 2 things.
