Drawn To A Bubbly Church

Are individuals drawn to one church rather than another because of their personality? e.g Bubbly outgoing people will prefer a charismatic service whilst reserved quiet people would prefer the ones often referred to as 'dead' churches (although the latter are usually more alive than many imagine).

Moderator - Yes, usually.

The only thing bubbly about my last church was the soda at their pot luck diner. I think I was wedged between 2 mummies at the table. Mimes talk more than these folks.

I like both types. A bubbly church to me means: great music, worship and praise, great preaching and teaching. For sure. I also like times of quiet reflection, quiet prayer, altar calls(both quiet and bubbly). I do like a lively or bubbly church, above all. No dead, frozen church for me.

Donna et al. I just must have missed a previous something you said. If God had wanted "bubbly" to be a proof that we had His spirit, wouldn't He have put it in the Bible. True, we should be grave but not dead. But really, to say its the outward signs that prove a person's walk with God is real or not... well, that's just wrong. There are times I find it impossible to contain myself in worship but when I can it doesn't mean I have lost God (or that He has lost me).

Should i fall, because someone else told me
to do so?Should i follow without knowing
where i am going. Can the blind lead the blind
through the forest? If one follows another simply because they are buddies. Then it is not God that is sought. It is themselves
that highlights the road.

When you have a real relationship with the Lord, your praise and worship will come forth no matter where you go. Jesus said in Matthew 5 that we are the light of the world. We don't have a light to hide it under a bushel, we are to let it shine. The era we are in now, you won't be able to tell who is "bubbly" and whose not because what is happening, God's glory is about to hit this earth like never before and those we consider dead will be awaken from their sleep.

Donnna & Catherine ... Have you ever been to a quietly praying congregation, or one that visits, feeds and clothes?
Please don't say you believe they do not have the Holy Spirit

#1 "Donna I must let you know every response on here from me comes straight from God. Hold on to your hat, sometimes my responses are hard to swallow".
---catherine on 1/23/08

Oh, really? Everything you say on these blogs comes straight from God? What about this blog:

Title: President Bush Cussed Today

Blog response: "I have not watched the news today. So, what did he say"?

#2 Is God asking this question, or are you? God has no need to ask such questions. He already knows.

Catherine (and anyone else out there who believes everything they say is directly from God, for that matter), please be careful about the claims you make lest you take God's name in vain, and make his people look foolish.

His thoughts are infinitely higher than ours. Let's try to remember that.

catherine-I love and respect your responses also. Those are the ones I read first when I have the chance to come here which isn't very often.(((huggs)))).

Yep. Square people like square churches.

Wild people like wild ones.

Now, if only we can get our new organist to play quieter than Aerosmith!

Donna, I really liked what you wrote. Not many like you. This one I would love to keep from you, only I can't.

The "bubbly outgoing people" are usually the ones with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The quiet reserved ones either don't have the Baptism of the HS or they are fundalmentalists, they don't believe it is for today. I am drawn to a church that worship in Spirit and in Truth and that has the meat of God's word, not watered down bubble gum type of messages, but deep teachings of the Lord God Almighty.
---Donna on 1/16/08

There is some truth to the statement but the reserved, quiet personalities are often dramatically changed when the baptism of the Holy Spirit comes on them. This changes personalitiy and creates boldness, and excitement like never before.
