I know that people should be much, much, much, more concern with where they will be spending eternity. We are down here for such a short time. Eternity is forever.

"2) Jesus promised a hundredfold return if we sow our seed/tithe".
That's apparently what some mega-church pastors and televangelists say .. "Give it to me to look after" ... and they buy their private jets!
Do the donors get their reward on this earth? No.
We should not look for financial reward from God on this earth, but on the next.
Strange that those false pastors demand their reward now, and from the poor, whom they dupe

All goes to show that the one thing lacking in this country is an understanding of how money works. If you use stocks you can make more money quicker on the down than on the up. The reason the rich get richer is that they make money, not "save" money. Put your money to work. Read the story or the talents, they doubled it and pleased their master.

to donna - tell that to a person who lost his job, cannot feed himself or his family. or a person who cannot have health insurance.
why are pastors 'storing treasures on earth', that is why they aren't worried their monthly salary is $7800/month cannot be contented with $10.00/hr. that is why they have multi million dollar homes & luxury cars.
so are you suggesting people who lost their job to just sit down & do nothing, give their 10% to the church & wait for god to do everything?

I'm Not a Prophet, I'm a Well Learned student of Gospel & Prophesies that are to befall Mankind, I have been thru the fiery trials this world has to Offer a Man & I have Endured the Chastizment of our Father And Now I AM counted as one of His Sons, FAR Better to be a SON than a Prophet,Even though I've been telling people all this stuff from the age of 10(1971). Europe would rise as the Feet of Iron & Clay w/10 toes, That was'nt a probability until the Berlin wall came down in the 80's.

Not in the least bit. Believe this or not, I am depending on God for food, clothing, electricity, water, and everything. I wish Americans would be more concerned over the really important things. Like where is your permanent home gonna be.

No Christian should be concerned about the economy, why?
1) Jesus told us not to store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy.
2) Jesus promised a hundredfold return if we sow our seed/tithe.
3)"My God SHALL supply ALLLLL of your needs according to His riches in Glory in Christ Jesus."
It's time we choose to believe God for our finances, our food, clothing, the necessities of life because the economy isn't going to bring us anything but failure.

Andrea,

That cutting taxes for the rich only works when the rich compared to the rest of us aren't too few and too too rich.

Otherwise that time worn cliche kicks in, "The rich just keep getting richer, and poor just get poorer, and more children."

Duane M, I didn't know we had a resident prognosticator, not much point in bible study when we have a prophet on board, huh?

Mima - cutting taxes for the rich inspires them to invest and make the jobs
it doesn't sound right but it seems to work.

Yes I am concerned about the economy but I'd rather see economic collapse with the desperate cry for salvation then an economic boom with this ugly murderous sin seeking society

I've been telling Neil Cavuto on Fox News that our market was going to crash for over 2 years now & that the Euro would consume the Market & World, Maybe people will start listening to me? Not! I'm not concerned at all about Economy, In Fact i pray for it to collapse everyday because i know it takes hardship for most people to even consider God at all!, it's a Shame it takes the Wrath of God to open the eyes of men...

Having food and raiment, we must be content. I'm more concerned with souls than anything. If it takes recession, persecution and even great tribulations to refocus Christians, it is worth it.

To fix the economy,

1.goverment spend less than it takes in

2. Over 4 years cut the size of the federal Goverment 25%

3. cut Taxes/ lower the capitol gains tax to 0 in urban areas.

4. Secure the border

5. inforce the 10 amendment and turn over all social programs to the states-left them keep delete them.
---MikeM on 1/21/08

Concerned? Yes! But I also am wondering what took so long. The only way that the economy can be helped by the government or any other organization is to pump money in at the lower income levels. This always means taking care of jobs! Not cutting taxes to big corporations are wealthy individuals. To do that is a sure road to ruin. It is called trickle-down economics. So what we are witnessing is the chickens coming home to roost!!!
---Mima on 1/21/08

Yes, very much so, but, the sin in the church is of far worse consequence.

Yes,we're in the construction business and live near an Army Camp, we'd already seen a decline in business with troups leaving the Post for overseas and families going to home States. With the building slump 16+% there's a marked change in the economy here. The only thing I can depend on is God,when I pray for business He sends it. It would be wise if we all pray for God to help the economy in USA or we may well see a recession. We don't look at the inevitabilities,we look at the possibilities in God.
---Darlene_1 on 1/20/08

I am not concerned with the economy because my security is in CHRIST (WHICH IS ETERNAL), and not in the things of this world we live in (WHICH ARE ONLY TEMPORAL).

.....WHAT GOOD IS IT FOR A MAN TO PROFIT IN THE THINGS OF THE WORLD, YET LOSE HIS SOUL.... Mark 8:34-38.

A **moderator** question! This must be a serious concern.

(1) Jesus said there would be trouble, and

"All these are the
. . . . . beginning
of sorrows.'" (Matthew 24:8)

I'd say You, Jesus, said this so we would not be surprised, but ready...not "under the power of" (1 Cor. 6:12) things this world can control. If we are controlled by money...guess who "might" be controlling us by controlling our money.
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/19/08

Not very much. There are always a few years of correction after a few years of great prosperity and overspending. It will take care of itself as it has in the past when these things happen.

(2) "Cursed is the man who trusts in man" (in Jeremiah 17:5) > I know I can't trust this world's people and the economy they can control. So, I don't have to worry and be in suspense, under the power of what they do or don't or "might". "For the help of man is useless" (in Psalm 60:11) > so, I already know I can't count on this world's people to do things right. So, Satan can't play me into having hope in what I know can not be trusted.
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/19/08

(3) People stay emotionally and spiritually weak because they let their attention be decoyed to what is happening with money and things they desire in this life. As Satan's kingdom plays games with this world's economy, this keeps people unstable and weak in their worrying about and seeking financial security and gain. This is part of how Satan keeps people weak so he can control them. Isaiah indeed calls Satan, "you who weakened the nations!" (in Isaiah 14:12)
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/19/08

Mod' The economy is a roller-coaster . Begining in 1929, "the great depresion", from which much was learned about leaning on the stock market for financial stability. Upswings and down are in fact quite the norm. When you (person or nation) spend more than you/it earn..it's 90miles an hour down a dead end street! Conected to "religion"? Not necessarily!
---1st_cliff on 1/19/08

We're not too concerned with the economy now. We began getting debt free a couple of years ago, so we are in a better position than some people today. We believe the economy is going to get worse. So, we are continuing our efforts to become totally debt-free within five years. First thing, cut up those credit cards and pay them off ASAP. It will be a sacrifice, but it will be worth it.

Psalm 37:25

25.. I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Proverbs 23:23

23Buy the truth, and sell it not, also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Waking up this morning, I heard Psalm 37:25 before my eyes were open.

This week, I secured all financial matters as much as humanly possible. I am trusting God to take care of what I cannot.

Now is the time to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily binds us. Lay aside pride, covetousness, the various sins that chain us. For those that will awaken out of slumber, prepare for the winds of change.
