How To Get Salvation

I wonder why people always say for Salvation that you must turn from your sins and that you must surrender your life to Him for Salvation? Also they use terms like "Invite Christ into Your Heart" I have never seen any of this in the Bible that I have studied for 29 years.

Jerry, you have been a Christian for 29 years and you still don't understand salvation in Scripture? It is no wonder that you are in the Old Covenant, that Covenant could not save anyone. When a person invites Christ into their lives, they are expressing their commitment. That is all. And they surrender their lives to Christ. Keeping nothing of themselves. A commitment Jerry. You don't have to say anything if you cannot talk, but if you are ashame, just don't say it.
---Mark_V. on 3/27/08

Ruben, do you believe with your heart that Jesus died for your sins, and in His resurrection? In other words, do you have that saving faith that God gives to make that commitment? That is the question. But it has to be genuine, not confessing on Saturdays, having the priest pardon you with penance. You have to have saving faith. And that faith comes from God. If you don't have it, you are not the only one out there with no faith. If you have it, you will not be ashame to commit your life to Christ.
---Mark_V. on 3/21/08

To the person who wrote this ? and has studied for 29 yrs.
You've stumbled at the word like someone who has read it for a week!
Jesus DID'NT say, GO AND SIN SOME MORE, I'm going to go die a Horrible Death, SO you can Just keep doing what your doing, Have Fun OK?
HE said "GO AND SIN NO MORE OR A WORSE THING THAN BEFORE SHALL BEFALL YOU".
Do you need MORE verses to Study?
I UNDERSTAND HOW MY BROTHER grew tired of your types.
It helps if you read the whole Bible
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 3/20/08

Repentance from sin wont save anyone because you will go back and sin again and again. What foolishness...
It is through faith in HIM we are saved. HE took sin upon Himself. He became sin for you. When will Christians believe Christ made them righteous? When man repents, He turns to Christ to be saved.
Does anyone still believe in the Cross? Will we claim to be saved but not continually forgiven?.. Nonsense...
---duane on 3/20/08

One of the most profound scriptures in the Bible is found in the New Testament where Jesus said to his diciples..."No one can come to me unless the Father draws him to me". Enough said...
---Greely on 3/20/08

Christ died(the BLOOD) for the forgiveness of sin, by (HIS LIFE) we are saved.
---duane on 3/19/08

Where is the conviction at? Anyone can believe that Jesus is real, came in the flesh and died on the cross, and rose again in 3 days. My father-n-law believes that and he is a sinner (as far as I know). Without conviction from the Lord Jesus Christ, there is no getting saved. A person can't say, Lord I believe that you are real and I want to be saved. That doesn't work. Without conviction, there is no humbleness and prayers from the heart. Just empty words.
---Rebecca_D on 3/18/08

Many have read the Bible for 29 plus 1 year, and still they have not seen the truth in front of their face.
---Eloy on 3/18/08

To be saved, one needs to believe, repent(change of mind),and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins--Mark 16:15-16,Acts 2:38.The Lord will then add that person to His church-Acts 2:47(King James version). There is salvation in no one else. Jesus Christ is the only One that can save us--Acts 4:10-12.
---denna9368 on 3/18/08

Some answers I didn't see the word Blood. If not Blood, false salvation, hell you will go.
---catherine on 2/28/08

First, we must hear the gospel the good news of Jesus death and resurrection (Ephesians 1:13). Then, we must believe fully trust the Lord Jesus (Romans 1:16). This involves repentance, a changing of mind about sin and Christ (Acts 3:19), and calling on the name of the Lord (Romans 10:9-10, 13).
---Court7646 on 2/28/08

A definition of the Christian doctrine of salvation would be The spiritual, eternal deliverance which God immediately grants to those who accept His conditions of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus. Salvation is available in Jesus alone (John 14:6, Acts 4:12), and is dependant on God alone for provision, assurance, and security.
---Court7646 on 2/28/08

Ruben, That is right, "Not everyone who say's to me "Lord Lord" Saying Lord Lord does not save you, what I put down does, if you believe in your heart, and confess with your mouth, but of course you would never do that,
---Mark_V. on 2/8/08

Mark that is the samething as saying Lord Lord!
---Ruben on 2/15/08

Through hearing the good news.We repent(a change of mind)by accepting the saviour of the world...The word says, we MUST believe on HIM who HE has sent. By grace through faith. Nothing else will do. Flesh cannot save itself, its all Christ in you, for this is salvation.
---duane on 2/14/08

Rebecca-D. you wrote"Christ is not going to come into one's heart without that person asking first. A person must surrender all to God. You can't halfway serve him because he doesn't halfway save us. If one doesn't ask Christ into their heart, how else can he come in? But because of John 5:9
"And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks." Should you be considered?

---mima on 2/13/08

Mark V. What you said, isn't that what I was meaning? Yes it was. If a person isn't sinceir with God their not going to ask God into their heart anyways. And God won't come into onen's heart without that person asking first and be sinceir. Because he said in his word people call upon him with their lips but their heart is far from him.

Rebeca, when someone ask Christ to come into his heart and it's a genuine asking, it is because that person has faith. He would never ask Christ into his heart if he didn't have faith for if he did, it would not be genuine. It would be false. And in order for that person to have faith he has to get it from God. Without God giving him the gift of faith he will never ask Christ into his heart. Did God force him? No, He didn't, He made him able by giving him faith to believe.

Ruben, That is right, "Not everyone who say's to me "Lord Lord" Saying Lord Lord does not save you, what I put down does, if you believe in your heart, and confess with your mouth, but of course you would never do that, God's word is not authoritive to you. Second, you are right, you cannot separate Jesus Christ and His church, because both are invisible, and He is the Head of the body of believers, the born again Christians who have given their life's to Christ not to a building.

---Mark_V. has perfectly illustrated why I use a sinner's prayer like this. I begin the sinner's prayer began with "Lord Jesus". It is inconceivable to me that people refused to believe a "sinner's prayer" is effective. To say this seems to me to be denying the word of God.

#2. Ruben: Here is your problem, You have committed your life to your church and refuse to believe in the Word of God. Your church takes precedents over God.
---Mark_V. on 2/7/08

And here is your problem you cannot separate God and his Church. He is the head of the Church. "if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth."(1 Tim 3:15)

#2. Ruben: Here is your problem, even if you were in a secret room by yourself and no one but God listening, you would refuse to say those words with your mouth, because in the first place you don't believe Scripture is authority over you life. You have committed your life to your church and refuse to believe in the Word of God. Your church takes precedents over God. So no matter what God has to say, you will always reject the Word of God. Faith comes from hearing the word of God,

---Mark_V. has perfectly illustrated why I use a sinner's prayer like this. I begin the sinner's prayer began with "Lord Jesus". Ruben, I don't know how you entered OSAS to this subject but doesn't surprise me coming from someone who doesn't believe the Word of God to be true authority. Jerry that's not the the be all end all for judging all things, careful investigation is the true basis for determining fact. The Bible doesn't talk about a lot of things, but cynicism is lazy thought process, and a good way to lose the hazardously radical line he left us to walk.

Just because we can poke a stick doesn't mean we licked the lion. Find the truth, and don't stick around on these blogs, try the process for yourself. Document your observations and compare them to the New Testament.

Ruben, I am hoping you are born again so that you can understand it. But here goes, I will put a story for you just like I would do with a child who is learning. "God in beginning set Adam and Eve in the garden" Adam sinned, all people after Adam are considered dead to God. They are separated from God. When the spirit brings life to that lost soul, he becomes alive again, he has return to his Father who is God, not separated anymore, alive to Christ. Born again."

You have not seen it because it not so. God chose his elect prior to the creation of the world. Grace is God initiated and only for those he has chosen and it is an irresistible force when offered. Once you have been adopted into the family of God it is permanent nothing can take you out of God's hands. You can't ask of salvation, you have to be chosen for salvation, it is the most exclusive club in the world.
---Phil_the_Elder on 2/5/08

If you mean "salvation from death", Paul taught, that "Even as in Adam all die, even so in Christ ALL SHALL BE MADE ALIVE" (1 Cor 15:22). I believe, like Paul, that ALL will be resurrected through Christ's grace. But if you mean "salvation from sin", I believe we must have faith in Christ's atoning blood and repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38, Matt 7:21). Only those who have truly followed Christ will live with him after being resurrected.

2)grace thru faith- ephesians 2:8-9
3)sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth- 2 Th. 2:13
4)Godly sorrow-2 cor. 7:10
5)Faith in His blood-romans 3:25
6) Faith in His name- acts 4:12

Eloy you put another false statement. It seems you do that very regularly. You said, "God has physically shown Himself to all mankind in the person of Jesus Christ" Just another one of your false theories, one of many. Jesus Christ was a person of flesh and bones. He died and is in the right hand of the Father. Many have never heard of Him, His name or the gospel. That is why we have missionaries witnessing all over the world. The very same passage you put down will give you the truth.

#2. Eloy: if you read from 13 on to 14,15 you will see what I mean. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" now who will be saved? All those who call on the name of the Lord. 14. "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?" The writer is saying, how can this people believe in someone in whom they have never heard of? They need to hear about Him first.
---Mark_V. on 2/1/08

#3. Eloy: "And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? He is saying they need to hear the word of God in order to believe, and the way the word of God will come to them is by God sending the missionaries to them. " As it is written how beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news." So you see Eloy your theory is wrong again, just like always.

Jerry-to be saved from the wrath of God, you must REPENT - REPENT means to turn away from your sins. This is God's plan of Salvation-man repents and receives the forgiveness Jesus gave to him by Shedding His Blood on the Cross for our sins.
---Donna on 2/1/08

The term "invite Christ into your heart" stems from "Love the Lord Thy God with all of your heart." What other place in your body can you invite Christ? We can't invite him into our spirit because our spirit man doesn't become alive until we are born again. We are born again when we invite Christ into our heart. Do a study on the word heart and it will come alive to you why we say this.

God gave us rules to live by three times. Once in the Garden of Eden, then with the Old Covenant and then with the New Covenant. But man always rebelled. Finally, God's own Son, came in the flesh and grouped all rules under two Commandments. Love God, love your neighbour. Regenerated, given grace to live a good life, otherwise we are throwing away salvation we should be alert, not sin, or if we sin, repent straight away and change. Extra works won't help if we rebel against his Word.

I didn't think about my heart, I thought about hell for a quick second And I called out to God, "Jesus I do not want to go to hell please save me. There is no confusion frances, that is why I put down what I did. Of course just believing doesn't save anyone. Regeneration comes first. When a person is born again their believe is in the sacrifice of Christ and His resurrection. That believe comes from faith, the gift that God gives him when he is born again. Did you also tell her the Bible also says "Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of Heaven. Did you tell her you "Must endure to the end", "Pickup your cross and follow me," "Must forgive one another or My Father in Heaven will not forgive."..bet you did not!

Rob is so right, Israel refused and killed the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ was totally faithful to the Father, and through his faithfulness, we receive our salvation. Read the book of Romans.
