pineing for Jesus Christ. How can a person be or stay depress when they pineing after Jesus Christ. Just love on me Jesus. Please love on me. Now, you may become a little distraught if He doesn't, but you will get over it. Pineing after Jesus Christ. He makes you want Him. Desires.

David said his soul thirsted after God and elsewher his soul panted after God.
The breath of life made man a living soul.
For some maybe their soul is crying out for God because it knows where it will spend eternity. And just maybe that person's carnal mind is robbing that soul of salvation by using their mind instead of the Holy Ghost to follow God.
That depression could be that soul saddened as it faces hell for an eternity.

One aspect is that the physical illness of depression can be caused an oppressing spirit.
The spirit that causes the depression can be cast out.
If the person isn't saved, doesn't love God, or have enough faith they are better off seeing a therapist and getting proffessional help with the physical aspect.
It does no good to cast a spirit out of a person that will just open the door to the devil and let him back in again.
Another aspect is totally physical and that requires meds.

Catherine ... you are a danger to yuorself.
You say "You can be depress all you want. God can pull you out of it"
If you had met anyone who was clinically depressed, yuo would realise they have a medical condition, as real as a broken arm.
They certainly do not want to be depressed.
I have been there ... but expect yuo will call me a liar.

I suffer from depression whenever I "read" in the news, "hear" on the radio, or "see" on the TV set, another story about: the Iraq war, George W. Bush and company, the exploding Federal deficit, funding problems in America because of the need to fund the U.S. Military, etc.

I always wonder how much longer all this governmental wheelin'-and-dealin' can continue.

My solution to my being depressed is: get away from the news source and read the Bible.

Hi Catherine, just curious--why do you say God can cause a person to be depressed? Do you mean if like there's something He wants us to learn from it? I tend to feel guilty when I get depressed so I don't usually think it's from God, just curious, thanks. :)

God can cause you to be depress.

Yes.Clinical depression is a physical condition that must be diagnosed by a physician. It is not caused by unfortunate life circumstances, nor can the symptoms be alleviated by one's own will. Contrary to what some in the Christian community believe, clinical depression is not always caused by sin. Depression can sometimes be a disorder that needs to be treated with medication and/or counseling.

You can be depress all you want. God can pull you out of it.

I know of a severely depressed man, that is so embittered with unforgiveness towards others that he cannot function in the real world. He carries his sad tales wherever he goes and they are tolerated up to a point. The tales are always about himself and the life of woe that he carries behind him. There's no victory because there is no forgivenss or repentance.

If his misery could be packaged into a boxset, he might be able to sell it and finally get rid of it.

Truthfully, the only way he'll ever see the victory from depression is to forgive and throw his boxset of misery into the ocean.
Until then, he'll make the rounds, spending abnormal amounts of time with his victims, anyone who will listen.

Jesus Christ can heal you of depression, oppression and remove possession.

If you choose not to take your medicine, that is your business.
Many causes for depression, unforgiveness and unresolved grief are two reasons.
---Cindy on 2/11/08

Seeing as some think that they would not take medicine for depression because Jesus can take care of depression leads to this question. Does that mean for other illnesses such as Diabetes and heart, high blood pressure etc that the doctor gives medicines for you would not take them because Jesus can take care of it for you. Depression (I KNOw suffer with it) is not just something in out heads. It is a chemicle imbalance or other issue.

Yes I do and im surpose to be on meds, but I refuse to take them. I know who the best cure for my depression is and Im relying on him not the meds. And that person is My Jesus.
---Ann on 2/11/08

Yes I have. I was letting my situation pull me down instead of giving my situation over to the Lord. His word says to cast your cares on Him for He cares for you. That changed my life.

Nancy- Thank you for your advice. I am working on seeing if I can get medicine adjusted and hopefully seeing a psychiatrist. I do take a multivitamin-mineral supplement daily, as well as fish oil. I try to drink a lot of water and get plenty of sleep. I am trying to exercise more but thats hard when your depressed. And I eat a diet high in fiber like flaxseeds because of its many benefits. Thank you again for your loving advice.

Why are you asking if anyone has suffered from depression? Just curious.
---mary on 2/4/08

Mary--
Have you had your dosages analyzed? It could be that you're not taking the right type/amount of meds.

Also, an organic diet and and a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement can help--good nutrition is essential in creating neurotransmitters.

Drinking plenty of water and cutting down on caffeine and sodium can help. As can getting more sleep (if possible).

And I've heard that olive, flaxseed, and fish oil supplements can help some people.

I have suffered from clinical depression most of my life, even as a child. I have to take medicine every day and even with the medicine I am still depressed. Why? But I know that God will get me through it, just like he gets me through everything and I pray for stregnth.

Depression (as opposed to a passing bad moood) generally has two causes:

1. Reactive depression is frequently suffered after a loss--a job, a loved one, break-up of a relationship, or other significant occasion. This will pass in time.

2. Clincial depression, however is a PHYSICAL DISEASE and not a spiritual flaw. There are medicines that can help.

Like Paul, I was well-to-do and I was homeless (twice), but I was content no matter what the situation. The few people who were aware of my homelessness never understood why I was so happy all the time even when I told them that God gave me the strength to continue. I often become extremely sad, though, when terrible things happen to other people. Not depressed, just sad especially when Christians don't understand God or the bible.

Every day on the news we see celebrities suffering with depression. You would think that's all that is going on in the world.

I see it as much more than a bird's eye view into someone's life. It reminds me of Rome and being a spectator, watching someone being pulled apart - limb by limb. Now it's the the paparazzi leading them into the colosseum.

We see few celebrities making it to victory. While they're viewed as examples of our society, it is a slice of Laodecia, is it not?

I believe depression is an epidemic now.

Brokenness can bring you to repentance and God's forgiveness and set you free from depression.
---Mark on 2/3/08

Acknowledging our utter helplessness without God is His way pulling our feet out of the quicksand of depression.

With or without God, you may need to medicated for an entire lifetime. For the epidemic of sadness, grief, misery and depression - I would take it before God and ask deliverance from it. The bible says this kind may not come out without prayer and fasting.
---Mark on 2/3/08

I think most Christians, watching television, seeing all the wickedness that we as a modern world have 'evolved' into, would or should be suffering from depression, except for that they know the end result of the rebellion against God.
---frances on 2/2/08

I have. I have gotten suicidal about being a failure to live the way the Bible says to live as a Christian. And I got injected with love that made it go away. But I've been through that, more than once. But the immunity has built up, I'd say.

Now, I might fail in a relationship and get depressed. At least I'm failing in relating, now, instead of as a loner (o: It helps to be busy praying to be sensitive to how God has me relating.
