I am of the opinion that my main portion of my financial contribution goes to my local church followed by specific ministries I felt led, thus minimal or none to mega churches. THerefore I will not contribute to mega churches and ministries that always ask for money.

to jack - you asked a good question. these mega pastors do not answer these kinds of questions, but they shove the bible down your throat telling you to deny yourself, sacrifice or do not store treasures on earth. So hypocritical isn't it.

Now by allowing the poor people to give, trhey acxtually help them to release the divine provision of God in their life. 'read Mallachi, and read Jesus words upon giving. when poor peoiple give obeying God, He will open a door to prosperity. I know this, I preach this

I would prefer to help the local ministries, especially the smaller churches who are trying to do the work of God. It takes money to run them all.But I feel the mega churches are in a better position financially to reach further than smaller churches. But God blesses all that we do for him. The size of the church does not matter. I find that small churches are sometimes winning more souls and reaching out to others much more than the larger churches. God is pleased with that. I feel.

1. "Have you ever notice that the majority of the money they receive comes from those who are poor." I must say that the majority of churches that I have ever attended were/are the opposite of that statement. Church members and leaders should have their 'ears to the ground' and be aware of the needs of their members AND people in the locality of the church. Helping the sick and needy is a part of our witnessing. Matthew 25:40.

2. The messages coming from many 'prosperity movement' churches is totally unscriptural. I have no idea as to whether some of these church leaders are saved men who have lost their way, through greed, or whether they are 100% charlatans destined for hell, but whichever they are, they need our prayers as much as anyone else does, and so do the members of these churches who are regularly being fleeced.

IMHO mega churches are the religious concept of a country club in the name of God ...and they make 'mega-money' selling their 'soft-version of God' all their products (books activities food etc) ...they appeal to the masses who otherwise wouldn't attend church ...false prophets who preach glossed over watered down versions of Gods Word
2 Peter 2:1, 2 Corinthians 11:13

Jack, it is true these Mega Churches are located in rich parts of town. Have you ever notice that the majority of the money they receive comes from those who are poor.

This is just another example of people using the poor as their prey and taking advantage of them for their own selfish gain.

It's your money, send it where you want.

Just don't let anyone guilt you into sending it one particular place.

I will tell you what I believe now, on this: Listen up. Or look up. You need to get together with God who owns your money and ask Him. And until you do pray about it, hold on to your money. Now, if you don't pray about it and you hold on to it, you are in sin. And God does not look down upon selfish people with favor. Did you get all of that?

My question would be these: Are you paying your tithe to your own local church or fellowship, first? Is that Mega church Effectively Spreading the Gospel of Salvation? Are they Mission Minded? Do they help you grow? Do they fill any part of the Isaiah 61-commission? Do YOU?
---Tim on 2/12/08

These Mega Churches/Ministires claim to be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but what they are preaching is a different Gospel than what is found in Scripture. Galatians 1:4-10.

Hard to say. They sound so legitamate when asking for money to further the gospel. It would probably be better to share with your local church.Even then the local church never give an account of what they do with the money, most times. Take part of the money and directly help the poor and needy in your area. There is a lot of kingdom work to do right in your neighborhood. You will know then how it is being used.

Mega churches want money. Small churches need money. A big difference. Greeds should not be fed.Only needs. But some small church are doing more kingdom work than the mega churches. Size can fool you sometimes.
---Robyn on 2/11/08

Yes they should sponsor these Mega-churches
No they should not give theire tithes to those Mega churches, unless they are worshipping there.
defenately they have to sponsor these small local churches.
when one gives it is not to men, it is to God and his work.

What you see on TV are two dimensional people having TV personalities. People who give money to these TV evangelists send money because of their TV personalities. If you ever met any of these people in person they have a completely different personality than on TV. Your money should be given to the poor and needy by you or your local place of worship. Then you know for sure how your moeny is being spent.

Share with those in need. Support the ministry that feeds you, spiritually speaking of course. Giving into the need of A local ministry that ministers to the need of your community would, of course, be preferable to suppling what may be the greed and superfluity of the "mega-church"
---joseph on 2/10/08

All kindness, in all forms (including money) should be given to those who need it.
---Ryan_Z on 2/8/08

I've noticed that these mega-churches that preach holy prosperity are NEVER to be found in the poor parts of town, but always in rich white suburbs.

Why is that?
