Death Penalty Biblical

GOD's word is the Bible. The Death Penalty is in the Bible, and thus, GOD ordained. Why don't some people believe in the Death Penalty?

1) America, one nation under God, where they use the word of God to stay legalistic. yes death penalty is biblical but why do we no longer want it.

2)because Christ said bless those who curse youu, love your enemie. and the same bible sais that the punnishment that brought him death gave us peace. it is better to let a fellon ghet a life-time sentance so that maybe he will one day through prison ministry repent. these guys on deathrow have difficulties to repent for it is the book of that God who autorises their death in stead of grace undeserved.i am pro death penalty, but i believe Christ allready paid for their crime as well.

JESUS was put to death via a corrupt law--the death penalty. Wake up! Along with so much truth in the bible, Satan has crept in and flourished. WAKE UP!

Don't believe something simply because your parents/pastor/teacher/friend told you to.

God made a world that is intricate and logical. Do you believe He chose illogical messges to be entered into His book?

Dr Rich ... You say "He would know and give to the priests the truth regarding those that deserved to be penalized by death"
I'm sure yuo are right ... but can you quote where this is stated, for my information.
Incidently, in theocracies such as the Islamic states, the same applies.

Dr. Rich>>>I absolutely loved what you wrote on the death penalty blog. And what you wrote was the absolute truth.I Hope that you have a Great Day.

Jesus said, "Let he among you who has not sinned cast the first stone." That says it all for me.

Because man has made a mess of everything. This includes law and justice right down to the death penalty. Oh, but do they love to quote scripture. One big mess is what they ought to be a quoteing.>>>God help us ALL.

Wouldn't "capital punishment" have been appropriate for the guy who DECIDED to shoot, injure and murder, innocent people at the college in Illinois?
---sag on 2/15/08

Capital punishment is biblical, but that doesn't mean it's right. Read the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13, and see how well it fits with your desire to see the death penalty carried out.

Because Jesus gave the qualifications for the executioners in John 8.

Do you think you are without sin, Gregory? If you do, then you deceive yourself, and the Truth [Jesus] is NOT IN YOU!

When God was with Israel, He would know and give to the priests the truth regarding those that deserved to be penalized by death. Today we have a broken justice system that clearly has not been established by God. Many (yes many) of those in the history of our country have been murdered (executed) unjustly under the alleged authority of MANS law. Clearly there is a huge difference!

Did God ordain the death penalty before the establishment of Mosaic law?

All excellent answers here. Bless you all.

Circumcision, not shaving your beard, and stoning rebellious children is in the Bible too. Do you believe in those or have you noticed a possible change from the Old testament to the new? Those laws and the death penalty was part of the many hundreds of sacrificial, civil, and ceremonial laws given to the Israelites. We are no longer bound by those but it seems that some laws are still imposed regardless of us not being under them. These are not to be imposed onto the Church according to Acts 15.

Infanticide and regicide are also in the Bible.
Does that mean they are God-ordained?

1. Mat 5:38 to 44 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

2. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. This is why I don't believe in the death penalty.
