Spirit Of Oppression

How do I know for sure if I have a spirit of oppression? A woman at my Church, whom I didn't know, was walking past me, and stopped, grabbed my hand and said "you have a spirit of oppression".

Witch-craft! Does this kind of thing really go on in churches? Nothing but a bunch of nuts. "Stay away from them. Get out". God has spoken. If you have it, you would know it, before anyone else. Hallelujah+

Kyla...No one can tell you what to do! Decisions, you must make. If you know God, you must go to Him, first. If you don't know God, you sure need Him....Hallelujah. AhhhJesus++

Are you burdened or do you feel heavy? Do you often feel this way for no reason? Is it preventing you from behaving in a free kind of way? The bible says where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. If you don't feel free and this feeling is hindering progress in some area, then in Isaiah God talks about a fast that sets the oppressed free. Jesus said if you feel this way come to him and he will give you rest. Does that help?

What is so great about going to church? Do you know what the church is? Well, it is not a body of unbelievers I tell you that much. Give me a true church and I will fellowship.

"This is why I stopped Church-going. I found the most wierd individuals turned up religiously every Sunday, trying to get in well with the inner circle of the leadership, and trying to make me feel inferior."

If you quit going, seems like the enemy won. We have a table prepared for us in the presence of our enemies, not in the absence of them.

Lala land, a temporary reprieve for anguish.

I do not know how the woman can tell. But oppression I have sometimes when scriptures are taken out of context. In first Corinthians twelve Paul did approve of women preaching. We need to remember back in those days women were taught to submit to husband but not to all men generally. And as far as women keeping quite in the church, Paul was saying to not be asking a lot of questiions to ones husband because of the disruption in the church.Wait till home. I do understand this and I do have revelation.

Frances, Your in Japan? i live in Togo (West-Africa land of voodoo, fetishes and islam) I know how difficult it is to live as a born again-believer in a pagan country. one way is to start a prayer and study-group and invite friends. before you know it, God has planted a chuirch through you.

Andy, thanks. I will endeavour to go back to meetings with the believers, when I find a group that believes. It is difficult here in the land of Buddha and Shinto.
---frances on 2/27/08

Frances, go back to church, you go for God, not for men. I do not wish you to neglect your regular meetings as some of you have the habbit says Paul. And to your question, how do you know? you have a pastor in church? elders? take the woman and her prophecy and explain to them what happened They will know what to do, if rebuke, rebuke, if prayers prayers.

This is why I stopped Church-going. I found the most wierd individuals turned up religiously every Sunday, trying to get in well with the inner circle of the leadership, and trying to make me feel inferior. Pray for that person but if you get some benefit from the preaching, or some support from other friends at church, just ignore her and continue on your way.

Its great to bounces this off people but the real person to ask it Jesus and may he reveal it to you it such a way which is only of Him
---rosalie on 2/20/08

If I'd listen to everyone that (so called) prophesied to me, I would have a brand new car, house, among other things. You can't go by what a person says anymore. God said to try the spirit to see if it be of God or not. Do you feel oppressed? Oppression is worse than depression. If so, take it to the best Doctor...Jesus.

You should of asked her why she felt you were oppressing her.

Ask the lady why she said that. If she is truly discerning she will be able to say more to you than just those 6 words. Some Christians do have these gifts but some, I'm afraid, like to give the impression that they have. If someone said that, or something similar, to me I would want to know more.

It sounds as if she was trying to be clever, or to insult yuo.
Anyway, what is a "Spirit of Oppression?"
