This is a Myth,we serve a Loving & Merciful God.Documentation for this Myth is in:
Jeremiah 31:29-30 & Ezekiel 18:20 We do not carry our ancestors sins

The Bible mentions generational curses in several places (Exodus 20:5, 34:7, Numbers 14:18, Deuteronomy 5:9). The Bible specifically tells us that God does not hold children accountable for the sins of their parents (Deuteronomy 24:16).There is a trend in the church today to try and blame every sin and problem on some sort of generational curse. This is not Biblical. The cure for generational curses is salvation through Jesus Christ.

The idea of generational curses misrepresents God's love, mercy, grace, and justice. Christians must not promote it. I would advise my friends to read the book, "The Myth of the Generational Curse" by G. A. N. James published by Xulon Press, 2007. It presents Scripture passages which show the falsehood of the idea of generational curses.

Generational curses huh...Phooey.

John answered well in saying the only generational curse is the one that was initiated in the Garden.

If I were you I'd be VERY careful about saying you are cursed at the pleasure of the Almighty. This is not his wish, nor his work.

His Spirit brings new life and redemption to any who receive it, what you say is blasphemy.

Jack, yes there is that promise, but it does not wope out the warning given before.
It is the usual good/bad news of so much in the Biblem what you get when you obey or disobey.

The dogma that has developed from mis-reading "generational curses" in scriptures has gotten so far out of hand it is ruining families. It is of itself a curse. I beg you all to beware of this far reaching abuse of God's word. As noted in previous responses (below) we must read all of the thought and not stop a verse short of the meaning. Take time to find the other scriptures that address the true situations behind that phrase.

Jack - I was reborn on the 15th of Jan 2006 and i accepted Christ Jesus, however I still had generational curses. Its as easy as looking back on your family line to see reoccurring cursed for example alcoholism. Read the story of Israel and his sons there it talks about generational blessings and I believe gives examples of curses.

Yes, it is Biblical.>>>As belonging to God and His people means blessing, being cursed often meant separation from God and the community of faith. It involved the experience of insecurity and disaster. [Matt. 25,41]. Especially serious is the situation of those who reject or actively oppose the work of God [Rev. 16: 9,11, 21]. Which is what's going to happen in this country, if we are not careful. Curses upon a nation.

Everyone of us has one generational curse for sure. The one that's still bothering us all. It all started in the garden of Eden. Because of this alone, I would have to believe in generational curses. However, there are many generational blessings also such as Abraham and his seed being blessed because of him.

**

The basis for this is the 3rd commandment, and I will curse to the 3rd and 4th generation those who hate me.**

Read the REST of the verse, where it says, "showing mercy to the THOUSANDS of generations of those who love Me."

Big contrast, don't you agree?

Do you think you have a curse?

If you're unsure if you have a curse or generic sin, you can always take care of it today. No need waiting for another generation going by before you act.
Pray the thing off of yourself, or have someone break it off for you with prayer.
Some may not come off but by prayer and fasting.

Do you have familiar spirits visiting your home? Do they sit on your bed and visit with you while you're getting ready for work or Christian blogging?
If so, you could have generational familiar spirits, looking for a host, a hostess with the mostess. In that case, it's time for ghostbusters, or a Christian that knows how to deliver someone from demons.

And if you're really born again, wouldn't ancestral curses be broken?

Hmmmmm????
