Yeah, read somewhere saying her twin was called Elizabeth
---Juanha on 2/20/09

Thanks Dan, I am not sure where you are going with this and you might want to fill me in. All I attempted to do was answer what the 'Atonement' was all about. Therefore it appears that the Atonement awaits for the very last thing to happen. Anyway that is how I see it.
---Dr.Rich on 4/18/08

But our High Priest is not just of the Levitical order, but also the order of Melchezidech.(however it is spelled) That takes it to a whole new level of understanding.
---dan on 4/17/08

Thanks for some good sharing, we're all still learning in some areas of God. HE reveals himself through HIS word, and through our hearts. God Bless!
---NVBarbara on 4/16/08

If you will research the Atonement, you will see that the first to become cleansed had to be the high priest. Next were all the priests and their families. Only after this could the other tribes of Israel become cleansed. The sins were placed upon the goat of removal, and NOT upon the High Priest. In fact, no sins were placed upon the Priest, the Priest Tribe, or the other tribes. Nothing was done for the rest of the world but the scapegoat was sent out to them.
---Dr.Rich on 4/16/08

Jesus is our high priest. He said He bacame sanctified. The next group to become sanctifed is the 144,000 who are sealed before the tribulation. The next group are the 5 from the 10 Virgins (KOH) and they testify about the truth to the multitude standing before the throne (bride) found in Rev.7:9-15. This is what the "Atonement" is all about. John the Baptist was right, but this has not happened YET!
---Dr.Rich on 4/16/08

John the Baptist introduced Christ as "the Lamb that takes away the sins of the world", pretty clear I think.
---dan on 4/16/08

YOu are correct Barbara. JESUS is both. He died on Passover so we can be under his blood. But He was also the lamb sacrificed since the beginning of the world. He is the Sacrifices of the Old Testament where blood was shed in one person.
---Samuel on 4/16/08

Both I think Dr. Rich. Jesus is the Passover lamb. HE also took all the sins of the world to the cross with Him as atonement for our sins.
---NVBarbara on 4/16/08

NVbarbara, thanks. This is why I am still a student. But my question is this: Was the death of Jesus the 'Atonement'? OR, was He the 'Passover Lamb'? Or could it be both? I believe He was the Passover Lamb as He said He was. If I am correct, then no sins were placed upon Jesus. Isn't this correct?
---Dr.Rich on 4/15/08

I guess Dr. Rich you have no reason to believe this.

The sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great truth around which all other truths cluster. Evangelism, p. 190
---Samuel on 4/14/08

Her online bio Dr. Rich "Ellen, with her twin sister Elizabeth, was born November 26, 1827, to Robert and Eunice Harmon. The family lived on a small farm near the village of Gorham, Maine, in the northeastern part of the United States. However, a few years after the birth of the twins, Robert Harmon gave up farming, and, with his family, moved into the city of Portland, about twelve miles east".

Where did anyone get the idea that EGW had a twin? And give me one good reason to believe anything she ever said of wrote. Just like Joseph Smith and others since Jesus left and gave His truth seekers the Holy Spirit, EGW was used as bait to attract those who refuse to study themselves.
---Dr.Rich on 4/14/08

Walter Rea wrote the White Lie and I read it. I also have read a number of other books against Sister White. But then I checked against her words. I also actually knowing History and the laws of the time as well as reading up on others who also know these things. Know that you are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

**
Samuel - and what source did Ellen White use to plagiarize what she wrote in Evangelism?
---Lee on 4/8/08**

Lee, there's a book on this very issue by a former SDA minister (whose name I forget): THE WHITE LIE.

The gist of the book is not whether she can be called a prophet, she can't. The REAL question is whether she can be called an honest woman.
---Jack on 4/14/08

A minister may make a high range into heavens, by poetical descriptions ... which please the senses and feed the imagination, but which do not touch the common life experience, the daily necessities, bringing home to the heart the very truths which are
of vital interest. The immediate requirements, present trials, need
present help and strength faith that works by love and purifies the soul, not words which have no real influence upon the living daily walk in practical Christianity. Evangelism 182

Kella...I am an ex-Mormon and see no need to post questions that discuss that false religion. Everytime you post a question regarding false doctrine it may point non-Christians in the wrong direction. Now do you see where I am coming from?
---Susie on 4/8/08

Ellen White wrote:

Bear with a certain voice an affirmative message. Lift Him up, the Man
of Calvary, higher and still higher. There is power in the exaltation of the
cross of Christ. Evangelism, p. 187

Every position of truth taken by our people will bear the criticism of the
greatest minds, the highest of the world's great men will be brought in
contact with truth, therefore every position we take should be
critically examined and tested by the Scriptures. Evangelism, p. 69

Susie, I was an adventist. I began going to a SDA church when I was 16 and began my journey of leaving when I was 25. I was not an adventist very long. I believed in the teachings: soul-sleep, investigative judgement, Satan being our scapegoat, the Sabbath as binding, etc. I am not wanting to convince anyone to believe these things.

How do you explain her prophesies (which are documented) that never were fulfilled?
---Steveng on 4/5/08

False prophet.
---NVBarbara on 4/7/08

Susie, Thank you for assuming I am an adventist. I was an adventist and I do know firsthand about the falsehood of adventist beliefs. I am a Christian. Why you felt the need to express your assumptions, I do not know. By the way, you could have asked me quistions and I would have answered you. Btw-I found out about the twin sister a little while back.
---Kella3336 on 4/7/08

Susie - LOL good point, I've been wondering why there was so much discussion about SDAs on this blog!

Re: Elizabeth Harmon, Ellen White's twin sister - she was very bitter about how their family had been cast out of the Methodist church even though no one could find fault with them for any moral reason, and I don't believe she remained a Christian at all. Sad.

She was a false prophetess. My opinion, no need to respond.

I figure that when a question like this is asked, it is just another attempt to discuss a denomination that is based on false doctrine. Just another sneaky way to get their beliefs recognized on this Christian website. I think a true Christian wouldn't care if a false prophet has a twin sister or not.
---Susie on 4/7/08

Yes Ellen had a twin sister. No she did not love GOD more then anyone else. She loved GOD with all she was and all she had.

"Noone else has ever shown the greatest love for Christ than EGW "
Not even Paul, Stephen, Peter, and others who were martyred for their faith?
---alan_of_UK on 4/7/08

I just wanted to know who she was and why it was significant to know she had a twin. I thought maybe she was someone important, that's all.

Pdottie-Honestly, it was just a blog question. I agree that she was a false prophet.
---Kella3336 on 4/5/08

Pdottie,Trish, it was just a blog question. Funny thing is everyone has a choice if they want to take part in the discussions. No one forces them. I do not care about every blog here-therefore I do not comment. Simple.

Ellen G. White was a young women who Seventh day Adventist beleive recived the gift of prophecy to help guide the church back to the Bible the source of all truth. We also believe that she helped warn against dangers that faced the church.

She was a human being who was tempted and somtimes gave in to temptation. Who made mistakes got made and generally acted like a normal human.

She also loved JESUS more then anything else in the world. He meant everything to her.
---Samuel on 4/4/08

The only thing I found out about Ellen G. White is that she is a false prophet. I really don't care whether she has a twin sister or not. Why would you care?
