Buy Catholic Rosary Beads

I am thinking of purchasing rosary beads. Is it true they have to be blessed before you wear them? Also people have said things can happen when you wear them. Is this true?

Claire,
Every star differs in glory.
That's between the Lord and you.
I wouldn't buy them as I agree with being clothed by the Spirit of God.
If it's not an idol or god to you and you have a clear conscience I guess it can't be any worse a witness than cars with an "Obey Acts 2:38" bumper sticker or fish emblem passing people as they drive over the speed limit.
Mainly, let your light shine in whatever you do.
Do all things as though you do them for the Lord.

1) The very best symbol of Christianity to wear is to put on Christ everyday. Walk the walk, don't just talk the talk. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Be a light unto this dark world. Walk with integrity and in love. Live a biblically moral life and give praise and glory to Jesus. Do not join in with the world's ways, take a stand for righteousness. Let people SEE who you are in Christ.
---Holly4jc on 4/17/08

2) Let them see Jesus in you without you even having to put on any outward symbols. THAT is the most powerful symbol to wear!!!

May I remind you all that many famous people that are living a very ungodly lifestyle just love to wear crosses. Nowadays, it's more of a fashion statement than truly having any kind of spiritual meaning. Let your life be your symbol of your faith!!! They can't nullify the light of Christ within you or take the power of His love away from you. :-)

Nancy I agree that a fish brooch or pendant are probably the best symbol of Christianity to wear. The cross is just considered a piece of jewellery these days, worn by virtually everybody and some are so ornate that the reason for them is totally lost. The fish is less known yet and can prompt questions which give us a chance to explain what it means.

Nancy...The Bible says that many think that the cross is foolishness. Yet, it was on the cross that Jesus died for our sins. Why not teach the truth?
---SusieNArizona on 4/16/08

I was a Catholic and went to Catholic school. Loved it! The only thing, it was dead to most of God's truth. Lose the Rosary beads. They are useless. Pray to God only, in Jesus name. He is faithful.
---Jay on 4/16/08

Rosary beads are not strictly Catholic--prayer beads are used in many religions as a memory device and an aid to devotions.

But in terms of ettiquette, only the religious (priests, nuns, etc.) should actually wear the beads, and then usually on the belt, not as a necklace.

If you are searching for a piece of Christian religious jewelry, I recommend a fish, since crosses and crucifixes focus on Christ's torture and death rather than His teachings and resurrection.

The PEOPLE of Catholicism are wonderful people that really do love God in their hearts, but the system and teachings of the institution are misleading and teach a very structured 'materialism'. Babylon has always remained a GREAT mystery and confounded scholars and great minds for centuries so that only speculation is possible. It remains a mystery because it is something that we (humanity) don't want to see/admit. Babylon is our "natural limitations" (Romans 6:19) that we refuse to overcome.

We embrace materialism by putting our spirituality into physical objects and model our devotions after text and worldly wisdom.

We (humanity) are 'Babylon'. Rosary beads are a part of Babylon. LOVE for God can ONLY be in your heart and mind. Keep what is holy HOLY. Do not share or express any part of your devotion/relationship/belief with rosaries or any physical objects.

Jack, (5) About the Pope. What is he doing in the White House. I thought he was supposed to be a spiritual leader of Catholics and not involved in politics. Seems I am correct in my suspicions that he is indeed a politician and he does indeed give orders to leaders. This is a significant display of the uniting of religious and political leadership in a New World Order. (Unless he was bidden to come and is too scared to refuse which would make him a coward and thus hated by God.)
---frances008 on 4/16/08

Jack, (3) It is not that the beads have any power, but that God has power to condemn people for a spirit of idol worship/prostitution/rebellion. The people who wear them are condemning themselves. They choose rebellion as against obedience. (I acknowledge some people are too ignorant to do the research, or too poor.)
---frances008 on 4/16/08

Jack, (1) I went on a retreat and we were told to pray the rosary on the way. We were told and given documented proof of the Pope's love of the rosary. The rosary has one Our Father followed by Ten Hail Marys repeated five times. In other words, Mary gets ten times the prayer that God gets - after the introductary part.

Jack, (2) God hates idols and idol worship. He hates sticks, bricks, engravings, statues, beads, or whatever else people put superstitious belief in, in front of his face. Thou Shalt have no gods before (in front of) me. Everything is in front of God. Those objects are representations of possession of a spirit of prostitution to other god/gods/Mary.

Susie,

It's the same thing down here in Texas. I believe most people don't understand that Catholics have different beliefs in the Southern USA through Latin America, whereas northern USA and European Catholics typically don't have those same beliefs. These differences frequently occur due to the Catholic Church merging pagan and Christian traditions in different parts of the world.
---Moderator on 4/16/08

Somebody forgot to tell the Catholics down here in southern Arizona, and especially those from Mexico that they aren't supposed to wear those rosary beads for jewelry. In fact, we have met several people who are not Catholic who think they have some kind of power. Check out a few of the rosary websites and then say that people don't believe they have power. Several of the websites I checked say there are special blessings that come from praying with those beads.

Jack ...I wouldn't disagree with you on the Evangelist churches ...although I don't think they use any of the "props" that the rcc does

**
the rcc is a pagan institution who hijacked Christ superimposing HIM OVER their pagan idolatry and calling themselves christians **

You can say the same exact thing about pop-evangelicals. They are nothing but pagans with a veneer of Christianiy.
---Jack on 4/16/08

Why would you want to purchase and wear beads associated to nonChristian beliefs?

the rcc is a pagan institution who hijacked Christ superimposing HIM OVER their pagan idolatry and calling themselves christians ...they worship their church mary and a host of other things that God Condemns ...they have more rituals then the Pharisees EVER HAD ...YET they have a underlying hatred for all things jewish

**
Why would anyone want to display to the world, the fact that they put Mary before God? Do they really think that a mere trinket will have power to save them, rather it will condemn them on the day of Judgement.**

First off, frances, nobody puts Mary before God. You just think they do. (I suppose you also think that the Pope came to give George Bush his orders.)

Next, how can a mere trinket (as you called it) have power to condemn?

Emcee,

What is Marian devotion and why would anyone do it?
---Moderator on 4/15/08

Claire:: Rosary beads are not for adornment,as in Jewellery But a tool to obtain graces while meditating on the Life of Christ in specified circumstances. It is a Prayer referred to as a boquet of ROSES as an offering through His mother to Him.It is called a Marian devotion.
---Emcee on 4/15/08

A Christians faith is a spiritual one. Chrisitians don't need physical objects such as the rosary, the cross, holy water, holy rocks, statues, holy trinkets, or golden calfs. Any Christian that needs a physical object to believe is a weak Christian. Besides, anything of a physical nature is of Satan because he is the lord of the earth.

No-one seems to be bashing Catholics as the only one to mention the Catholic church, so far, is a Catholic himself.
---RitaH on 4/15/08

Rosaries are not worn as jewellery. It is an abuse to do so.

But this impresses me as being another Bash the Catholics blog.
---Jack on 4/15/08

I go to a Catholic church. However, I have never heard anything about wearing rosary beads, having them blessed, or having things happen when you wear them.

The rosary is a "tool" to help us remember the "Mysteries" of the life of Jesus: Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious.

---sag on 4/15/08

Hi, Claire . . . (o:

I don't think it's true that you need them for your salvation. So, whether or not they should be blessed is a decoy issue (o:

"'You will keep him in perfect peace,

Keep your attention to God, Himself. There are many things and people to keep our attention elsewhere (o:

There is no power in any kind of jewelry, including rosary beads. The Holy Spirit is where the power is and HE doesn't put HIS power in jewelry.
---Susie on 4/15/08

Has someone suggested that you need some? Who do you think should bless them? What do you want to happen if you wear them? What do you think they can do for you if you buy and wear some? Sorry that is 4 questions and not an answer but I feel that someone is misadvising you and you are heading for using superstitious nonsense rather than faith and believe in God your Creator. Read you bible, pray and keep your money in your purse.
