Are You Forgiven Evangelism

I saw the word FORGIVEN engraved in wood, on a rope 18 inches long. Would you wear this around the streets to use as a tool for evangelism? Why or why not? Do you think people would ask you what it means? And would you go up to someone and ask them, are you forgiven? Is this a good Evangelism tool?

I think it sounds pretty good, myself.

No, I would not wear this engraved, wooden sign, because my life is enough of a visible living witness to the saving and forgiving Grace of God. People will know who I am in Christ and what He has done for me by the way I show God's love (compassion) to them.

there's a Belgian sister who carry's a cross of 30 kilo's to all big concerts, many positive reaction's i have heard. In australia there's a biker driving around with a cross on his back, many are saved.both people have an exemplary HOLY life . question is not wether or not you should do this, By all means preach!!! question is, can you stand the pressure that will come upon you, for the unbeliever will expect to see a superholy person. so pray, fast dedicate to Christ and preach.

Alan, line dancing might be fun!

SusieQ ... A line-dancing group?

Jody ... i have no idea what you ar talking about ... 12 steppers???
My friend is truly saved, but he recognises that the gambling addiction is still latent in him.
Now he would not put his name on Mima's list, so I am not worried about him
I just mentioned the point about gambling to how how evilly powerful it can be,even in a tru saved christian
---alan_of_UK on 4/29/08

Jody ... So what about those whom Mima approaches ... what about the gambling addicts among them, if they are not saved and don't have the strength to walk from the temptation?
Mima. and perhaps you, seem to regard gambling as a litle "come-on" gimmick but it is much more than that ... it can destroy families and lives
---alan_of_UK on 4/29/08

Jody, what is a 12 stepper?
---SusieQ on 4/29/08

Hi Alan/UK. I understand what you're saying but the 12 Steppers are more reflective than you might suppose. I would guess your man is already saved by now. Someone who is not but is so called "Spiritual" due to that program, would probably take the opportunity to witness to MIMA about gambling rather than walk away and possibly be saved in the process. The Holy Spirit is in control even when a witness uses a gimic to get attention. I truely believe that He saves through efforts of ALL types.

Christ died for the forgiveness of sin long ago. HE died for all mankind. The statement forgiven is very true. If mankind is not forgiven, there is no hope. We cannot come before God to be saved if sin(roadblock) is not taken away. We are saved by grace(His death) through faith IN HIM, we are NOT saved because of unbelief in HIM. HE died once for all, its finished.

Mima, I still feel what you are doing is dangerously close to gambling.
How many people talk to you because you are offering this free chance to win a car?
Youa are of course there, & I am not, so I respect what you say, but the cynic in me wonders whether maybe people react "positively" (but how permanently?) to your message because they've been given this free chance of a car, rather than because they genuinely accept the free offer (not just a chance) given by Jesus.

Because we all have different personalities God can use us all in different ways. This may work for some and not for others. If we are guided rather than rush in where angels fear to tread we will witness in the way that is right forus.

Nobody carries a ticket away. They sign a little slip(first name only) and a phone number where they can be reached. We place this slip in a big container. At the drawing, we will shake this container up very much. And then have a child about nine years old, reach in and get a slip. The name on that slip is the winner of the prize.

Mima ... # .. 1 ... My concern arises because my church hosts the local meeting of an organisation called "Gamblers Anonymous"
One of our members ... a much better Christian than me ... is a gambling addict.
He nearly ruined his marriage by his habit, stealing from his wife's handbag, even his children's money boxes, and lying all the while,<
---alan_of_UK on 4/24/08

Mima ... #2 .. He no longer gambles, but faced with your offer of a free chance to win a car (presumably everyone goes away with a ticket) he would have to refuse the ticket, because if he accepted it, he knows that even that would trigger a return to the gambling habit.
That would happen even if it was a chance just to win a packet of biscuits.

Mima,

What you are doing is God inspired and may He continue to bless your ministry.

alan of UK-yes, a man liveing 8 miles from us won the Cadillac(eleganta). His picture was in the paper. And I still occasionally see that automobile. What gamble? Every person gets at free chance to win the gift. We are not selling GOD we are endeavoring to tell people how they can be saved and over 75% readily pray for their salvation. If what I do is unsatisfactory to you, May I inquire what you do to win souls?
---Mima on 4/24/08

Mima ... You told us this a few years ago, and then it was a luxury limo.
Did anyone win it?
But don't you think it is wrong to sell God by asking people to gamble?
---alan_of_UK on 4/24/08

This year my partner and I are giving away a pickup truck. When the person comes to get a free chance. We asked them the question. Are you going to heaven? And we go from there. Todate we have had the trunk at one fair and three days on the streets. So for over 200 people have asked the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Donna, you need a plan and you need to work that plan. May God richly richly bless your efforts!!
---Mima on 4/24/08

Don't. To me this is giving the impressions that if you wrap this rope around your neck and look at the word "FORGIVEN" That will tell them it is okay to hang myself just as long as I look at the word FORGIVIN. So in their minds they now believe it is okay to hang yourself just as long as you see this word FORGIVIN. Bad judgment, don't make this things for others to see, alot will cling to you with ropes in hands.

Someone might come up and twist it around until they choke you on some streets. Gimmicks seldom have a lasting effect on people. Billboards, rainbow bracelets, knotted strings, all of those things.
Jesus didn't say go ye into all the world with a rainbow bracelet, billboard or piece of wood around your neck. He said, Go preach the gospel.
---Ulrika on 4/23/08

Would you wear it around your neck and walk the streets?

It seems unlikely that anyone here would do that as we are too stuck on the blogs to even move away from the computer. ha ha
---Ulrika on 4/23/08

No gimmicks please. For me, & perhaps others, gimmicks are a real turn off. :)

"...Let your light so shine before men [humanity], that they may see your good works [acts, deeds, doings, LOVE*], & glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matt. 5:13-16, *22:37-40, Mk. 12:29-34, Jn. 13:34-35)

I agree with john in the since i don't believe it's a sin to evangelize in that manner. I just personally believe that witnessing in a gentle spirit is more effective because many people who don't know the lord may be put off by something they consider to extreme or possibly fanatical.

Different people do different things. Certainly this can't be a sinful way to eveangelize. I doubt that people would ask what it means. If it works for the person, then great.
