Leslie,
You seem to define repentance as turning from sin on your own. I define repentance as turning to Jesus Christ who overcame sin for us. Big difference...
My faith is in HIM, your faith is in YOURSELF. Can you overcome sin and put it away? Better be sure, because no sin shall enter.
---duane on 11/5/08

For all of you that believe that you do not need to repent to have your sins forgiven, or that repentance voids out what Jesus did on the cross, here are some scripture to say otherwise. Luke 13:3,5 (repent or perish (go to Hell)), Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19 (repent and be saved), Acts 17:30 (repent). If you are still not convinced, you are worshipping a FALSE god. The gospel of grace says that repentance is not necessary and is a FALSE teaching.
---Leslie on 11/4/08

Act 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Let us rember that Peter's altar calls started off with calls for repentance. Just Like JESUS. Luk 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
---Samuel on 11/4/08

Without repentance, God can NOT and will NOT forgive your sins. God is sinless, and Heaven cannot allow sin in it. Without repentance, you are destined to Hell. Do NOT trample on the grace of God anymore. Grace allows us to see the need to repent.

What, is the connection between repentance and salvation? The Book of Acts focus on repentance in regards to salvation (Acts 2:38, 3:19, 11:18, 17:30, 20:21, 26:20). To repent, in relation to salvation, is to change your mind in regards to Jesus Christ. In Peters sermon on the Day of Pentecost (Acts chapter 2), he concludes with a call for the people to repent (Acts 2:38). Repent from what? Peter is calling the people who rejected Jesus (Acts 2:36) to change their minds about Him, to recognize that He is indeed Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36). Peter is calling the people to change their minds from rejection of Christ as the Messiah, to faith in Him as both Messiah and Savior.

Cont #2 PLEASE POST

Repentance and faith can be understood as "two sides of the same coin." It is impossible to place your faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior without first changing your mind about who He is and what He has done. Whether it is repentance from willful rejection, or repentance from ignorance or disinterest it is a change of mind, that results in a change of life. Biblical repentance, in relation to salvation, is changing your mind from rejection of Christ, to faith in Christ.

Jesus Christ is the ONLY ONE who can change your life, and set you free!

---kathr4453 on 11/3/08

Faith is action, action is the change of mind. Faith is the change of mind.
example...We believe a chair can hold our weight but sitting on it shows (is) our faith.
Faith is like love. Giving your life for another IS love.

though frances and i don't agree on a lot this one we do. faith and repentance are not the same. I can have faith that the brakes on my car are going to work but does that mean i have repentance? Many many people have faith or believe in Jesus without ever having repentance or "a change" in their life.
---evangelistjerry on 11/2/08

Kathr4453 - If you disagree with me, then you are disagreeing with the Bible - saying that the Bible is lieing. Repentance points people to the cross. Repentance says "I am a filthy sinner, in need of a savior, and cannot save myself". It is obvious that you do not believe that you are a sinner in need of a savior, and can save yourself. This is why you do not believe in repentance. If this is true, then only Christ can save you, and I pray that you do not go to Hell in your deception and ignorance.
---Leslie on 11/1/08

***Repentance and faith are entirely different.***

Oh really Frances? FAITH is TRUST in someone else. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ we place our TRUST in Him, and ALL that HE has said.

The rest of that verse says...only those who do the WILL of My Father....doesn't it.

Well, Romans 12:1 & 2....is the ONLY way one can really KNOW the WILL of the Father. It takes total TRUST to completely surrender your life to someone else with HIS promise to TRANSFORM YOU. You cannot transform yourself.

Repent means to turn around placing your TRUST in Christ.
---kathr4453 on 11/1/08

Many will say to me on that day 'Lord, Lord, we gave messages in your name, and in your name we did miracles and cast out demons from people' and I will say to them on that day, 'Get away from me, I don't know you, you who do evil.' Matthew 7
Repentance and faith are entirely different.

Kathr4453 - According to the Bible, in order to be saved you MUST have repentance and faith. If you are missing either one or both, you are NOT saved. The Bible also talks about DIEING to yourself (flesh, desires) DAILY. Jesus said that if you do not do this, you do NOT belong to Him (Matthew 10:38, Luke 9:23-24).
---Leslie on 10/30/08

Leslie, did I say I disagreed with you? You said those who teach the Gospel of Grace are wrong...I said...You don't know the Gospel of Grace then....BY GRACE through FAITH.

TRUE FAITH IS ACTUALLY REPENTANCE believe it or not. Believing is not just head knowledge.
---kathr4453 on 10/31/08

Kathr, Jesus does not need believers, there are many who believe who will be told to 'Get away from me, you who do evil'. Jesus needs followers as in 'Take up your cross and follow me.' On the Last Day everyone is destined to believe in Jesus. Then those who did good will go to their reward and those who did evil will get their comeuppance.

Leslie, I hope you're not referring to those who teach God just picked their names out of a hat....that they just woke up one day Born Again. Leslie, that is no the True Gospel of Grace...that's the Gospel of Calvin.

The Gospel of Grace preached in Acts, certainly does say repent. However repentance does not save anyone...believing in Jesus Christ is what saves. We are justified by His Blood and saved by His risen life. One must certainly believe the old man crucified and the New Man raised up together with Him a New Creation In Christ. We cannot crucify ourselves or even nail our sin to the cross...That is the work of Christ alone.

1. God created men and women in His likeness.
2. God gave them free will, that is why Adam and Eve sinned.
3. God gave them a conscience as a result of that sin.
4. We can obey our conscience or we can deny it.
5. God wants us to obey our consciences.
6. Those who obey their consciences will be judged and found obedient to God.
7. Jeus is the Judge and so all mankind can be saved by Jesus if they repented and produced fruits in keeping with repentance.
If this is too Roman Catholic, too bad.
---frances008 on 10/29/08

If you look in my past posts you will see that for a short time I rejected the idea of free will. However, I was mistaken. So insidious have the heresies from Calvinism been, that I almost lost the true gospel position. If it was not that I read my Bible daily, I would have taken up with this idea that only a certain number of people are saved by grace, and the rest were made by God for Him to watch as Jesus damned them to Hell for simply never having heard about Him, or hearing a false Jesus preached. Now I am totally convinced that it is our actions that will decide whether we go up or down for eternity. This is what Jesus taught, not what Calvinists teach.
---frances008 on 10/29/08

Jesus's grace is available to the whole of humanity, they do not need necessarily to have heard of Jesus. This God-given gift (grace) needs to be received for it to be active and work for our salvation. Nobody lights and lamp and puts it under a bed. The man who buries his talents is thrown into outer darkness. If we are not actively working with Jesus, then we are actually helping the devil. If we do not obey when our consciences tell us to do or to not do something, then we are disobeying God. Grace is freely available to all of mankind, and it does not depend on any message just a receptive heart and repentance for sins.
---frances008 on 10/29/08

Repentance means to change your mind and actions, and to turn from sin. This requires work on our part. We MUST meet God halfway, or He cannot do the rest. The Gospel of Grace teaches that this is wrong (lie), the Bible teaches that this is right(truth). Who will you go with, man or God?

The Gospel of Grace teaching is a FALSE teaching. It says that you do not need to repent of sins, because this voids out what Christ did on the cross. May I ask what your definition of repentance is?

It is the "Good News" that while we were sinners facing the penalty of sin death, God and Jesus had already worked out a plan to save us FREELY, graciously or "gratis" wich means free of chrge. Jesus volunteered to die on the cross for our sins.
Our resonse is to be a life of apprecation for that wonderful gift in that we honor His gift in telling others about Jesus and the wonderful person he is. PR.

Mark_V: "So I believe that Steven by saying that the gospel is a false teaching, he puts himself as one condemned already."

I didn't say that the gospel is false, I said that the "gospel of grace is false." There is only one gospel that Jesus taught and that is the gospel of the Kingdom of God, not of grace.

Mark_V, I have stated earlier that you need to read the post - and understand it - before you reply. You have a habit of understanding English of what a post really says. This also tells me that you do the same with the Words of God.

Isaiah depict the coming Messiah. There will come a Saviour, a great salvation, a salvation from sin. In Isaiah 53:8-9, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the prophet details with unbelievable accuracy and precision the exact events related to the crucifixion death and subsequent burial of Jesus Christ.

#1. Catherine is right, the gospel of Grace is not new at all. There is of course many descriptive titles in the Bible for Grace. "The gospel of Peace" Eph. 6:15. "the gospel of Christ" 1 Cor. 9:12. "The gospel of the grace of God" Acts 20:24. "The gospel of the kingdom" Matthew 24:14. "and eternal gospel" Rev. 14:6. Since there is different descriptive titles the question is, are they different?

#2. Paul in Scripture answers with an emphatic "No" He says in Galatians 1:6-9, "Iam astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the Grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned.
---Mark_V. on 5/23/08

#3. There is evidence of God's Grace in every dispensation of history. When Adam and Eve sinned, God graciously intervened, and promised a Redeemer, and made immediate provisions for their acceptance before Him in their sinful condition. In the dispensation of Conscience Noah found Grace in the sight of God. (Gen. 6:8). God again intervened, saving Noah and his family. In the dispensation of Civil goverment man rebellied by building the tower of Babel. Again God did not distroy

#4. the rebellious creation, but continued to work in the hearts of men like Abraham and Melchizedek by making a Covenant of Grace with Abraham, a Covenant which the giving of the law never nullified, (Gal. 3:17). From the beginning God's Grace abounds. Old Testament believers were saved by Grace, and through faith they were justified by faith even as the the New Testament believers. Grace reveals His loving plan to provide a means of reconciling human beings to Himself even though we are imperfect,

#5. without compromising His own nature of love. So I believe that Steven by saying that the gospel is a false teaching, he puts himself as one condemned already. I would think he has to read the whole of Scripture to understand the Grace of God towards all human beings. Even the lost receive some of His Grace as they many times live a much wealthier life then the believer, but that Grace will not save them for their is no faith given to them by God.

The Gospel is not new. Paul said, "The Old Testament prophets spoke of it". take note: If something is new, it's probably not true, and if it's true, then it is not new. [food for thought] GRACE--Precedes Apostleship. In other words a man must be saved before he can serve. What is the true gospel? It is God's power. 1. God brought Israel out of Egypt. 2. The Resurrection of Jesus. Yes! GRACE+++"Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, Cont.

Cont.>> Gospel of Grace>>With an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began>>[2 Tim. 1-9]
---catherine on 5/22/08

Steveng is partially right. Someone please show me any "grace" in Revelation? The only true 'gospel' is the one about the Kingdom of Heaven, which is the testimony of Jesus Christ and Him only.
---james on 5/22/08

The Father will have mercy on whom He will have mercy, and will have compassion on whom He will have compassion. So then it is not of him that wills, or works, but of God Who shows mercy [by His grace]. And if by grace, then there is no more works [for salvation]: otherwise grace is no more grace. Christ has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace. We are kept by the power of God, through faith, unto salvation. This is the Gospel of Grace.

The Gospel of Grace is a false teaching.

This is just one of the many false gospels which include: the gospel of salvation, the gospel of miracles, etc. Satan is surely deceiving the whole world when he spreads different gospels. Many even believe the gospel is about the Person of Jesus Christ. If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed

Can anyone venture to guess what is the true gospel?
---Steveng on 5/21/08

Gospel is just another way of stating good news. Grace is what God provides to us through His mercy. So, that means the Gospel of Grace is just a way of stating the good news of God's grace.
---WIVV on 5/21/08

Romans 1:5 (NKJV)
5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,

This is where people get confused with the RCC's teaching of faith and works. The RCC teaches that works are part of the salvation process, BUT those works are the result of Christ's Grace working in our lives. We DO NOT earn salvation in any way. It is a gift. Works are the manifestation that we have truly accepted His Grace.

#1 The Gospel of Grace teaches that grace is God's way of salvation. God sent His Son in the form of man to take upon Himself the sins of the entire world and to pay off their debt. That was grace, and the fact that He would show mercy and love to hopeless humanity is grace. Christ rose from the grave and gave us a positive standing in Himself as a New Creation - thats grace. All of Christ's assets are put into our account on God's ledger - that grace.
---Debbie_Jo on 5/20/08

#2 The best part of the Gospel of Grace is that salvation is just the beginning. Grace continues to abound to those that are totally dependent on His grace.
---Debbie_Jo on 5/20/08

"THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD" GRACE is connected with INITIAL SALVATION The gospel message of salvation from sin is commonly wrote about by the GRACE OF GOD. That great is unmerited favor from God to us!!! Praise the name of Jesus!!!!! I'm trusting and counting on that grace for my salvation. What are you trusting on?
---Mima on 5/20/08

The good news that it doesn't depend on my ability (o:

"And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God," (2 Corinthians 3:4-5)

To me, this means I need to be absolutely submissive to God, at every moment, which means You want us to be so personal and intimate with You, all the time, sharing with You, never trusting how my self can will and control.
