I speak to the Lord throughout the day just in conversation. I praise Him for being so awesome and always thank Him for the day, any prayers that are answered, my food, etc.
Another thing I was taught, and works very well for me is:

P Praise Him
R Repent my sins
A Ask Him for healing,guidance,pray 4 others
Y Yield to His answers

I mostly keep to this order, but when I'm praying for a while, I usually jump around a bit. I don't think He minds. :)

If you pray for the lords well to be done than you can never go wrong.

i believe we should start of with the our father, and than tell god whats on your heart.
---netta_3634 on 10/18/08

Confident that the Lord will take care of me and mine I feel free to pray about other people's salvation. As I go to witness I always pray about the harvest of souls that will be won. As I travel I asked the Lord to put any accident that is going to happen that very day in front of me. And with the help of the Lord I will get out and witness and minister to those in need. Many people ask me to pray for them and I do although not perhaps the way they want me to. I like to ask the Lord to send his spirit(the Holy Spirit) to another person that he(the Holy Spirit) might witness to their spirit and that they might come to a saving knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ

I pray anywhere at any time, if the Spirit of the he Lord say pray i obey and do exactly that, i spend most of my time praying, even silently. when i sleep , when i wake up, when am walking to work, when i get to the office, its a circle.
---Comfort on 10/2/08

When I pray, I usually am in bed going to sleep. I also pray with my husband before we eat a meal. I also pray in my mind. Prayer is very important and even though fasting is also important it is hard to find something to fast about.

I pray constantly as suggested by Paul. Instead of talking to myself all day I talk to God. I constantly plead for his guidance so that the time of my life does not go to waste.
---Turk on 6/22/08

Do you pray "asking" God for/to do something? Or do you pray "demanding/petitioning" God for something that He has promised?

Asking, in the way people use it is like not knowing if someone will or won't do it.
Jesus told us to demand not "ask" the Father.
Look up the word ask in grk. for Matthew 7:7 and Luke 11:5-9.

Jesus wasn't talking about "asking" as in asking if, He was talking about demanding/petition because you know He will.

I have multiple prayer types.

Holy Hour. No vocal prayers. Silence with Jesus-Holy Eucharist.
I pray a simple conversation with Jesus throughout the day and esp at night with examine of Cons. Divine Mercy Chaplet in the hour of 3pm.Reading the Bible is also a form of prayer for us.Asking God,how to accept His words.
---Nicole on 6/14/08

For difficult situations, I have a prayer partner. We are equally yoked in our faith and can pray for any and everything.
We use the gifts God has given us and together we can pray for anything that the Lord tells us to. We listen and with two in agreement, those prayers are answered quickly. Sometimes overnight. We enjoy praying together, over the phone, whenever there's a need.
---lisa on 6/14/08

No cookbooks, no routines and no one else's words or prayer books.

I pray with the Spirit, through the Spirit, in the Spirit.
God wants to hear from each one of us and I find prayer books to be someone else's words that were given to them for their life, but not mine. We're all individual, unique as the snowflakes and all of our voices are different. God wants to hear from our own heart and uniqueness. No one else's words will do, when it's one on One with God.
---lisa on 6/14/08

When we tell someone else what to say, how to pray, we're telling them that our words are more important than their own. They are not.
So be a friend to God, talk and pray with your own words, in your own way. He'll like it, just show up, He always shows up.
---lisa on 6/14/08

When I pray, I pray to God to greet him in the morning and thank him for a restful night. I pray to know His will, and to draw closer to Him each day, and in the evening to thank Him for all those things I was blessed with, and for those in need of prayer.

Perhaps not, as he remained a stranger.

I pray throughout the day in just conversation. I plan at least thirty minutes of laying on the bed spending that time with Jesus each day.. God accused me the other day of when I come to Him in prayer is it more to cut up with Him. which sometimes I do. But if I really have a problem then I will talk to Him about it. I do pray for others as God lays it on me or I feel a need to do so.
---catherine on 6/6/08

I pray in all the ways you stated. I do pray for God's will and not mine. I pray most any and all times. Prayer should never be limited but we should use good judgement and not pray for un Godly things.

The prayer that was give by Jesus involves praise, worship and the things you want say to God . Amen

I start out by saying the Our Father. When I get to the part, "Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, I pause and think about what that really means. Also, Romans Ch.8 says, "We know not how we ought to pray, so the Spirit makes intercession for us." I pray in the Spirit alot since I don't know God's will for my life. I got away from praying for things or people UNLESS the Spirit of God unctions me to pray for them.

Matthew 6 provides a great example of prayer. He first addresses his Father in Heaven. He recognizes before the Father that his, being the Father, will be done. He then proceeds to ask for blessings both for himself and others. Fourth, he asks to be forgiven, but only as he has forgiven others. Lastly, he prays to overcome sin and temptation. Then I finish in the name of Jesus Christ because he is our mediator between us and the Father. It is also important to thank God for blessings.

3)'But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head.' I abandoned any attempt at prayer,' the old man continued, ' until one day four years ago, my best friend said to me, 'Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. 'Sit down in a chair, place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. He promised, 'I will be with you always'.

4)'Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right now.' 'So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I'm careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm.'

The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey.
---lisa on 6/3/08

5)Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church. Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. Did he die in peace?' he asked. Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him .
---lisa on 6/3/08

6)There was something strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed. What do you make of that?' The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, 'I wish we could all go like that.'

DADDY'S EMPTY CHAIR
A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed. The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. 'I guess you were expecting me, he said. 'No, who are you?' said the father.

2)The minister told him his name and then remarked, 'I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up.' 'Oh yeah, the chair,' said the bedridden man. 'Would you mind closing the door?' Puzzled, the minister shut the door. 'I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter,' said the man.

If a person doesn't pray for themselves, then they shouldn't pray for anyone else. I pray for for many of things, things that may be silly to others, but it isn't to me and certainly not to God. If a prayer is important to me, then it is important to God. Last week, I prayed that it wouldn't rain so I could get my stuff in my garden, it didn't rain until after I was finished. I don't pray for more money, I pray that God will help me manage my money better.
---Rebecca_D on 6/3/08

I pray as our Lord instructed us to pray in the Gospels (Matt. 6, Lk. 11). I pray for my own health, as well as the health my family, friends, and those who I do not know. I ask the Holy Saints and Angels in heaven to pray for us Christians.

I ask for personal things that I desire or want, for the Lord said "Ask and you shall receive". I end any prayer recognizing that everything must be accordance with God's Will.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy Upon Me a Sinner. IC.XC.
