To Whosoever has an ear to hear?

Satan is not omnipresent. He moves about as we do, going to & fro and up & down in the earth (Job 1:7)!!!
---Shawn.M.T on 10/18/08

yes, satan can be alot of places at once, but then again, so can god.
---netta_3634 on 10/18/08

This is a misconception by most Christians
Satan is everywhere but not like God is every where.

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

The spirit of the world is carnality it is the seed of Satan that is born into every person the unclean spirit that goes out of a person when they are born again

Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

That is why backsliders are worse than the world, the unclean spirit of the world returns and brings seven worse spirits.

No..satan cannot be in more than one place at a time. He is a created being. Now he does have plenty of demons working for him.
---JIM on 9/15/08

yes, he is underneath every born-again Christian's foot as we trample upon his very ugly head.
---Eloy on 9/14/08

Satan & his angels work together to what they entend to do around the world since day 1 when they cast out of Heaven. If they'r breaking & tearing God's people here in the U.S.A.,they'r doing so in Russia,China, Africa etc the same time. God made it so that the devils canNot read the minds of people, they may read your actions. By God's help, people have to gaurd against the devils putting un-godly ideas in the minds of God's people.
---Lawrence on 9/12/08

No, Satan cannot be in more than one place at a time. He would like people to THINK so, for he has always wanted to be like GOD. For, only GOD can be everywhere at one time. Saints all around the world, at the same moment in time, can declare that Satan is tempting and oppressing them. But, it's really the other fallen angels and demons who are doing all of that dirty work, besides just Satan. Satan does alot of it, too, as he roams about the Earth looking for whom he may devour. But, we attribute all of the evil activity mainly to Satan because he is the LEADER of the Kingdom of Darkness. He is the one who started the Great Rebellion in Heaven along with the other fallen angels.
---Gordon on 8/5/08

No. He is only ever present in a real way with certain persons. For the rest his fallen spirits are ever around us.

Adolf Hitler had the devil with him, as a point in time, so did Poll Pot. Basically, great men of wickedness have always displayed their father within them, pocessed of the devil, the devil incarnate.
---Alan on 8/5/08

Simply put, satan is not OMNIPRESENT because he must walk or somehow transmit himself to wherever he wants to go. God is OMNIPRESENT, because He declares in his Word that He inhabits Heaven AND earth. If God wanted to go somewhere, He wouldn't need to MOVE Himself. He created the stars and suspended them and calls them by name.He is THERE. He created planets and universes not yet discoverd, and He is THERE! And I hear that scientists are hearing eerie sounds emitting from deep within the earth and mountains.I believe they rocks and mountains are praising Him. And if we do not praise Him, they MUST!
---Danea8439 on 8/4/08

Satan is not omnipresent. But with one third of the fallen angels serving him in demonic form, his spiritual attacks are taking place throughout. The Bible teaches us, "We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but spiritual wickedness in high places" referring to the spirit realm. Only God is present everywhere. Only we turn our hearts and thoughts off toward the Lord. Remember, the Believer is given to use the full armor of God, the Helmet of Salvation, Breast Plate of Righteousness, loins girded with Truth, feet prepared with the Gospel of Peace, the Sword of the Spirit(Word of God) and the Shield of Faith to deflect demonic attacks. Remember the Lord always hears your heart.
---Robert on 8/4/08

No! Only God is omnipresent. He does, however have 1/3 of the angels as his spies.
---jerry6593 on 8/2/08

NvBarbara,we do not think about the devil much.I don't think that we all sit around wondering where he is andwhat he is up to.satan is a sly, devious and thoroughly wicked, thorougly defeated devil. with demons who serve him by getting into people and either tormenting thier bodies, minds, or BOTH. satan aims for the MIND.He sends thoughts of murder and perversion to God's people.Think about something long enough, and you will do it.UNLESS YOU TAKE THE THOUGHT CAPTIVE. Without the ARMOR, this is impossible!
---Danelle on 8/1/08

We DO give the devil a lot more credit than he deserves! Our own flesh gets to us and causes us to sin.

However, remember that when Satan left heaven 1/3 of the angels followed him. His minions are forever on watch to lure us into sin.
Put on the armor of God daily for protection!
---NV_Barbara on 7/31/08

This has puzzled me for a long time.

We are told by some here that satan cannnot be in more than one place at one time, but relies on his demons who are alll over the place.

But where is Satan? How does he get around? Has he got instantaneous means of transport form one place to another? yhas he got a base somewhere? How does he communicate with his demons?

My own feeling has been that Satan is not physical, but an influence, and is not limited as to where he operates, so can be effective at both ends of the world at the same time.

But is there any scripture one way or the other?
---alan_of_UK on 7/31/08

I have attended different churches searching for answers. To find what I am longing for,the truth. Of course so many people beleive different things. But the Bible says God turned satan loose on the world. I beleive satan is everywhere. God says so.
---sally on 7/31/08

I know you don't like to talk about him, but satan is REAL.He does not want you to believe he exists. He is a LIAR, the Accuser of the brethren. He is a whisperer, transformed into a angel of light. He has caused wars, murders and seeks to warp and twist everything God made. And he has mostly succeeded. He tries to emulate God and deceives many, hence the strife-torn world we are struggling in. True, satan is NOT OMNIPRESENT,but he broadcasts all over the Earth. He can not reproduce himself and he hates humanity.James 4:7 Submit yourself therefore unto God,resist the devil and he will flee from you." RESIST! He wants to destroy us all!

Some of your logic is so dumb. Pardon me for speaking the truth. Wayne is correct, Satan is not everywhere, but his evil, evil, demons are, and Satan is telling them what to do. And Satan is alive and well on planet earth for all you doubters .. I suppose there is noone who knows and understands this better than I do. The good news and message is>>>> to you devil, "your time is running out where you can no longer distroy lives". Santa clause is make believe, Satan is not!>>> You might want to make believe that he don't exist. dream on. There is a devil and there has just got to be>>> HELL.
---catherine on 7/31/08

Satan cannot be everywhere at once. There are demons though who are all over. Plus his influence is everywhere
---wayne on 7/30/08

If Satan can't be everywhere at once, then he (like Santa Claus on Christmas eve) must be very VERY busy, constantly running all over creation from one person to another, tempting them all one at a time. :)

Either that, or we give him a lot more credit than he deserves. A lot of people use "The devil made me do it!" as an excuse for decisions they make themselves, without any help from him.
---StrongAxe on 7/30/08

No. God ALONE is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. That is, all-knowing, ever-present and all powerful.

Nevertheless we must always be on the alert, not fearful, but aware of Satan's tactics, which haven't changed. We must be able to recognize the truth as opposed to a lie, since Satan is the father of lies. The Bible tells us: Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1Pe 5:8.

Satan takes advantage of empty spaces, and empty heads. If your head is full of the knowledge given to you from the Holy Spirit, there is no space for him to enter in and deceive you. He won't bother you. In fact he will see you coming and vacate the room. He will be in awe of you. If you are not learning new information daily from God, about what is happening in these End Times, you are not properly tuned in to God.

Though we walk in bonds of our physical bodies and wayward tendencies, we have been freed from sin and death Rom 8:2. Upon acceptance of Christ as our Savior,we recognize the Spiritual Warfare and we are equipped with the Holy Spirit, our source of POWER!(Eph6:10-12)

The Spiritual warfare between the kingdom of God vs the kingdom of darkness. Struggling Against Evil Spirits (Acts 19:11-20) There are spiritual powers that must be broken.Dan10:12-131 Thess 2:18

2)We need to live a life of FAITH, realizing the power and presence of the risen Lord, and believing that our Lord wants to defeat the strongholds of Satan through us.Our authority comes from Christ. In Him we have the authority to bind Satan and to cast him and his legions out of our lives, And in our availability we need to pray that we will have eyes to see the enemy in his many disguises, and the strength to stand firm against him by the power of the Word of God(1cor6:7)
---gracyluv on 6/9/08

no ~ he was an angel before his fall..he cannot be everywhere. I don't think he has to do much in the church. We argue enough about stupid, trivial stuff..and are completely weak..what is there to fear from us? He goes about killing, stealing, and destroying and then we just blame it on God.

satan and God have zero "0" things in common, that is 100% no thing at all in common. As far as the holy is from the unholy, the right from the wrong, and the heaven from the hell, so too is satan 100% the complete opposite of God.
---Eloy on 6/9/08

Satans chain stretches just so far and God allows him to go that far and no farther. He operates completely within the sphere of Gods allowance (e.g. Job 1:12, 2:6, Luke 22:31-32).
God even uses Satan to His own ends (2 Corinthians 12:7).
---lisa on 6/9/08

Satan is not omnipotent (all-powerful). He is powerful, yes, but not all powerful (1 John 4:4, Revelation 12:8, 20:2).

Satan is not omniscient (all-knowing).

Satan is an angel and angels do not know everything (1 Peter 1:11-12).
There is no indication in Scripture that Satan can read our thoughts. But he's good at predicting our behavior, because he's an expert on human nature.

If you've given Satan that much place and power in your life, you could be opening up doors to demon possession.
---lisa on 6/9/08

Satan,
Being a creature who dwells on earth, Satan cannot be in more than one place at a time. Satan roams here and there.

He was thrown to earth in a war with Michael and other angels and "lost his place in heaven" (Revelation 12:8). If Satan can "lose his place," then he is not in every place.
But Satan is the head of a network of subordinate devils who make his influence felt in places on the earth (Matthew 12:24).
---lisa on 6/9/08

His limitations . . .

Satan is not self-existent. He is created.

He is not sovereign.

Satan rules a domain of demons, but he does not rule beyond the bound of confinement of rule which God has given him.

Satan never has cast off the government of God, since the rebellion totally failed. He has been exiled to the earth and the domain around it (Eph 2:2).
---lisa on 6/9/08

Duane Dudley Martin,
Job means "man of sorrows". Who is the man of sorrows spoken of in Isaiah? It is Jesus, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Job's suffering is a picture of what happened to Jesus. Though allowed to be touched by the enemy, all was restored double in the end...and the devil had nothing to say about that. The new testament tells us to consider the END of Job, not the beginning of him.
---Linda on 6/8/08

We have been redeemed from the curse of the law and the devil only has the place that WE give him through unbelief in the person and work of Christ. If you believe you have, by joint union, what Jesus accomplished in His work, more will be given. If you "have not", even what you have will be taken away.
---Linda on 6/8/08

gracyluv . . . you are new here? welcome (o: There is "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience" (Ephesians 2:2) > the spirit of evil, and you speak of "evil spirit " and "A NEGATIVE SPIRIT". Satan's spirit "works" within each sinner. So, Satan's spirit is wherever selfish people are. And how about how animals can treat each other? So, Satan's spirit is pretty much everywhere, on earth, at least, but not like how God is.
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/8/08

Paul speaks of "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience." (Ephesians 2:2) But can we believers have Satan's own spirit of evil working in us? Well, I understand that Satan is dominating, dictatorial, won't take no for an answer, and his emotions therefore are tyrannical and cruel. So, we need to get wise to this > Jesus is "gentle and lowly in heart" in His feelings and passions of **His*** love, "and you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:29)

Only God is omnipresent. Satan can not be in 2 places at the same time. Satan can go to and fro, from one place to another, and probably do it by the speed of light. Satan is not all powerfull like God. So even though he is an immortal being, he is just an angel, he is not God.
---Tammy on 6/8/08

Satan is described at 'walking to and fro' in Job 1:7, being 'the prince of the power of the air' in Ephesians 2:2 and 'the god of this world' in 2 Corinthians 4:4. He certainly gets around and has much power but he doesn't do it all at the same time and his power is limited to what God allows. He is on a leash. Whether or not he realises this I'm not certain - perhaps he thinks he is more powerful than he is.
---RitaH on 6/8/08

2. If we truly believed that he can do everything he chooses we wouldn't pray, asking God to take away temptation, illness etc. God can and does overrule him and one day he will be totally obliterated.
---RitaH on 6/8/08

3. The reason that many think that he is everywhere at the same time is because so many evil things are happening all the time and so many people are succumbing to his temptations. This is done through all his helpers. He was not thrown out of Heaven alone. There are many with a grudge against God now at work on the earth, intent on causing mayhem whilst they still have the chance. We need God's strength to ensure that we resist any temptation that comes our way and this we get through prayer.

Satan and God have 1 thing in common, they both work through people. People who are filled with the Holy Spirit are the presence of God wherever they are. People filled with the spirit of Satan take him wherever they go. Consequently, the person does as his spirit dictates, be it Holy or evil. In this sense Satan can be wherever his people are.

Satan's throne was in pergamum according to Revelations, I believe. Pergamum was the home of the temple and throne of Zeus. Zeus was a real being. My guess is that he was satan. Since he was thrown to earth, he also has transportation technology. Since he had that, he wasn't omnipresent. He was thrown down to earth, both he and his angels, unfortunately for us. And he is the god of this world. His history stretches back to the oldest known writings in sumeria. I think he's very real.
