Josef, thanks for the encouragement because I am a preacher and a soul winner. Jesus gives us the power of His Holy Spirit to be witnesses, and especially lights to a dying sinful world. It is not just the preacher's job to give witness, but all believers as well. The blind man in St. John chapter 9 answered boldly as a witness of Jesus healing him and didn't leave it up to a preacher. In St. John chapter 4, verses 7-29 we see after the woman at the well had an encounter with Jesus, she went into the city and witnessed about HIM. Nowhere does it say they were preachers. This doesn't exclude the job of an evangelist, pastor or teacher, but we are all included in sharing the good news! God Bless You!

Theresa, this is not an attempt to correct you, however I would like for you to consider this "What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, 'This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent'. For It is God which works in you both to 'will' and to 'do' [His] good pleasure." John 6:28,29>Phil. 2:13 "No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day. It is written in the prophets, they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and hath learned of the Father, comes unto Me." John 6:44,45 The lost do need a preacher dear heart, so preach on.

In I Corinthians chapter 9, verses 19-22 Paul talks of becoming all things to all men that he might save some.Considering we as Christians will be judged according to our works for rewards or none, per I Corinthians chapter 3, verses 11-15, it is us allowing the Holy Spirit within us to lead and guide us, but we will act in obedience, so yes, it is us by the leading of the Holy Spirit who will win souls if we choose to. Also, Jesus, as I stated previously, told the disciples he would make "them" fishers of men. More Christians should not only intercede in prayer for souls to come to the Lord, but ask for guidance from the Lord on how to lead them to HIM.

"Proverbs 11:30 "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and HE THAT WINNETH SOULS IS WISE." Seems to make this statement,"No man can "win" a soul." Incorrect." Yes it does,

However I would ask you Mima, Who actually "winneth" (Strong's - #3947 'Laqach' "To take, accept, bring, buy, carry away, drawn, fetch, get, infold, place, receive, reserve, seize, send for, take (away, ing, up) use, win) souls?

Do you honestly think that this verse can be attributed to man? Or is it more applicable to The Holy Spirit who works in and through man?

Proverbs chapter 11, verse 30 says "..he that winneth souls is wise." In Matthew chapter 4, verse 19 Jesus says, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." In Acts chapter 1, verse 8 Jesus speaks again saying,"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghose is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me...." God uses us as His "lights" to a dying world and as soul winners, witnesses and fishers of men to tell people who don't know Him about Him! In Acts chapter 8, verses 26-39 Phillip the evangelist was used so by God to bring the Ethiopian eunuch to the saving knowledge of Christ, he was joined to his chariot and ended up leading him to Christ and baptizing him!

"What are soul winning strategies?" No man can "win" a soul. The most we can accomplish is a demonstration of a soul humbled to test, prove and approve the Father's method of operation. To allow for a decrease in our own carnal efforts, so that He may increase His work in and through us. As we lift Him up in all we do and say, He will draw all men He brings into contact with us, to Himself. We should always be open to and ready to give an answer to anyone who may inquire concerning the hope of salvation that we ourselves embrace.

I honesty believe we must demonstrate our sincere love and concern first. No one cares how much we know until they know how much we care. It may take a long time to win their confidence and friendship. You may have to go out of your way a long way so they trust that you have no ulterior motives. I start by praying GOD will prepare their heart, and open the door before I attempt to witness. HE will give me opportunity when HE has them prepared. Be patient and wait upon the LORD, and be prepared with His Word. Remember it's NOT our word, but God's that He'll bless. "MY WORD...will not return void..."

I've seen Preachers prey upon people whom has lost a loved one and they keep on and on about the deceased until that person comes to the altar. Then they will say it doesn't matter what reason they came to the altar, just as long as they come. Well that isn't true. If the spirit of God isn't convicting them of their sins, they are going to the altar for the wrong reasons. If I see lost people in our church, I pray that the Holy Ghost will be all over them making it hard for them to sit in their seat, that they have to come to the altar. My church doesn't play mind games with people's emotions like some churches do. It is best to just pray for their soul and leave it in God's hands.

I first heard the term used back in the '80s when the megachurches were just starting to emerge. There were multiple seminars about church finances and what practices would produce the most conversions per dollar. I thought that this term had died out but it appears to be back. I have since repented my megachurch ways and don't attend such Church building seminars anymore.

Share the TRUE GOSPEL OF CHRIST JESUS, which is the GOSPEL OF SALVATION. with others.

After sharing the GOSPEL, it is then between them and GOD.

**
"For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe."
**

This verse is talking about the believers ...to save them that believe ...it is not talking about the foolishness of preaching to the unbelievers ...which would be foolish ...I've heard many stories of people who have been approached with "Gods Salesmen" who went along with those who were selling them on being saved to make them go away

the Apostles were not salesmen ...the Apostles commission was a commission from Christ ...there are no Apostles today

if one doesn't know God there is a reason ...God hasn't called them

Trish you do have a strategy is called friendship evangelism practiced by many.
I know of 20-year friendships that have not resulted in any witnessing whatsoever!!!!

---Rhonda many people feel that way. But I always wonder how to reconcile your view with this verse first Corinthians 1:21
"For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe." This verse seems to imply or teach that someone supposed to say something.

I was taught this in Evangelism class. You ask the person, "If you were to die today, where would you go?" Heaven or Hell?

If they say Heaven, then ask them WHY they believe that. Most folks will say because they are a good person and treat people nicely, etc.,

That's when you give them the Gospel...that Jesus is the ONLY way to get to heaven, and that He died for their sins and gave them access to the Father. Quote some scriptures like, "all have sinned and fell short of the Glory of God" and "repentence is the key to salvation." Then tell them God sent you to them because of His great love for them.

I asked my Uncle that question, and six months later he died.

I don't have a strategy, because it is not my job to win their souls. The first two commandments are to love God and to love our neighbor. I love people, and put myself in their lives in genuine, caring ways. I do things for them, and care for them, and help them, and love them as the Lord shows me how. As a friendship develops, I then seek opportunities to share my love for Jesus with them, and it is as natural as sharing a cup of water with a thirsty person on a hot day.

There are no "soul winning strategies" ...at least not by Gods Holy Bible

John 6:44,65 & 14:6 ....only God calls

Many professing christians walk up to someone believing they have a "strategy" for winning their soul which directly contradicts Gods Plain Truth.

When God does the calling these people are guided by God to wherever, or whomever God wants them to go

Its amazing how many twist up Gods Word believing they are the ones to go seek out people to save ...remember if God does the calling then He brings them to Himself ...nobody brings anyone to God
---Rhonda on 7/23/08

Sorry to have been cynical in my previous response
---alan_of_UK on 7/23/08

The most important thing to remember is to have a deep genuine concern for their souls, I'd rather witness one time in the spirit than a thousand without.
---Pharisee on 7/23/08

Just do it! And do it through the door of Jesus.

Honestly, I just conversate w/ folks. I usually start off asking them what time it is or something like that. Then I ask them if they need prayer for anything. If so, I do pray for them. If they do or don't I still ask them have they been born again/excepted Jesus as his/her Savior. Some have & that's cool. Those who don't I just tell them what the bible says about salvation. Some have been baptized in water & believe that they are saved so I tell them what the bible says about that. Many listen, some don't want to here it.

Dale Carnegie techniques?

When you meet someone, always be sincere (i.e. turn on the sincerity)

A Soulwinning strategy would be THE ROMAN ROAD . However you face the danger of losing the one you're witnessing to before you complete the Roman road.
Expository preaching can be a Soulwinning experience(I've had people rushed to the altar to be saved in the middle of a sermon), but rarely so.
The best Soulwinning strategy that I know of is open direct confrontational questioning by the person doing the witnessing.
I would be happy to send you some Soulwinning information I am mima 3783 at Penpals.
