False Teacher Action Toys
Do you think a child could benefit from scripture reciting faith - based toys such as heroes of the Bible (Mary, Daniel, David, Joeseph, Queen Ester, etc.) and spiritual action figures that take the likeness of a spiritual leader of today? (i.e. Joel Osteen, TD Jakes, Paula White etc.)
Moderator - Why would you want a false prophet/teacher action figure toys for kids?

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Eph. 6:12)

That's OK Leon there's still hope for you yet!
No, Leon you misinterpret vanity for confidence, I've been there done that!I know exactly how you think, there are even some of your type right in my family, say the same as you verbatim!
Y'know what? they talk but they don't want to listen.
They have an "I'm alright Jack" attitude.IE
I'm born again, washed in the blood, headed for heaven ,I,I,I,I,ad infinitum ad nauseum!
You say I'm vain???
---1st_cliff on 5/20/09|
Gee Cliff! If I didn't have you to explain the deep stuff I just don't know what a po' below average, intellectually challenged critter like me would do. I is most needing to have someone superior like you (one in the top half of the world's most brainy people) to answer my lowly inadequate questions. When I thinks of you doing such mighty wonders with half of your brain tied behind your back, well, it just boggles (grid locks) my puny lil' mind. It's just too much for po' ol' me to comprehend!
When, as you say, "Jesus said, 'watch out that no one misleads you'", did he mean we should listen attentively to "experts" (people who really know) like you & your hero Thayer?
You're so vain! :)
---Leon on 5/20/09|
Leon, I thought it might be a little deep for you.
Thayer was the "expert" ,the publisher was/is trying to influence the reader with his own erroneous beliefs! In other words don't believe the expert, believe fundamentalists! Jesus said "watch out that no one misleads you"... they try!
Credulity, gullability, believing just 'cause "he said so"
Faith,is being "sure" of what we hope for and "certain" of what we do not see!
---1st_cliff on 5/19/09|
"Found the difference between faith & credulity."
Based upon your understanding & in your own words, please explain the difference Cliff.
Regarding Thayer, yes you're way off topic & I'm not sure of what point you "hope" to make by indicating Thayer wasn't a Trinitarian but the alleged "fundamentalist" publisher was. Your statement is related to what?

Sorry wrong page last post.
But, I dont think the lord should be a game or a toy.
How will a toy or game make It easier to believe in a real God.
---TheSeg on 5/19/09|
I believe its roman 9:13
Anyone who can believe the lord can hate, simply dose not know or understand him. To put it another way, dose not trust the lord.
Would it be safe to say, he came here to save all of us. Yes, I believe it would. Some will say otherwise. So, if he gave his life for us all. How can he hate anyone!
I believe if the lord were to hate anything, it would be lack of faith in him. Kind of not believe he is God. And you know God can do anything! Ha Ha!
At no time did he say it would be easy, God love you.

Leon, Y'know, they thought Alexander Graham Bell was crazy.
They thought Thomas Edison was crazy.
They thought Shwartz was crazy (actually he was crazy)
They were geniuses.
A genius ,I'm not, one doesn't have to be to understand the truth of God's word!
To arrive at where I am I cleared my mind of all former beliefs and went back to the 1st century, working my way book by book chapter by chapter, discarding all false misconceptions that had made inroads into Christendom!
Found the difference between faith and credulity.I became one of Christ's sheep but I'm not "religious"!
---1st_cliff on 5/18/09|
Leon, I know this is off the "topic" but indulge me just a moment while I have your attention.
Just one of the "conspiracies" I discovered ,you can look it up.
Joseph H Thayer D.D. was a gifted translator and bible scholar.producing the Greek English Lexicon of the NT.numerically coded to Strong's concordance.
In the publisher's notes (V11) The publisher writes "The reader should be alert for both blatant and subtle denials of such doctrines as the trinity"
Thayer was not a fundamentalist, the publisher(Baker Book House Grand Rapids Michigan) was, obviously!
---1st_cliff on 5/18/09|
Cliff: I didn't know you were once categorically a fundamentalist before you became a mental case. :)
"...i saw the error of my ways & reformed, graduated to a higher level."
So, you changed direction (repented?). Somehow (on your own or someone else's assistance) you were able to rise to higher ground (an ascended level of understanding) by not holding to sound Bible fundamentals? Okayyy! Who took you to this "higher level" (summit) & made you intellectually superior to at least 1/2 of the world?
No sir, you don't see. You've been bedazzled (blinded) by the enemy of your soul.
---Leon on 5/18/09|
Leon, Thin skinned?? Me? I understand where it's comming from, and empathise realizing that 1/2 (the other 1/2) the world is below average!
If you're an example of sanity, then I'm glad I'm crazy!
You forget that I used to be a "fundamentalist" but i saw the error of my ways and reformed, graduated to a higher level!
You know the song "Once I was blind but now I see..."
---1st_cliff on 5/18/09|
You're a riot Cliff! :) Being perpetually active & young at heart is very healthy. I have grands too & the kid in me plays with them regularly.
"They start with fantasy & grow into reality."
Do you mean as children age, they mature? Not so. Maturation doesn't happen automatically! It involves a process of orderly adult supervision (teaching & disciplining). An intergal part of their growing up healthy is to be taught the difference between fantasy & reality, etc. If they aren't taught, they'll never grow up! Instead they'll become mind-blown, grumpy old "religious" looney toons (mental cases) -- like you!!!
Don't be so thin-skinned Cliff! I'm just having fun. :D
---Leon on 5/18/09|
I see nothing wrong with action figure toys of heroes of the Bible (Mary, Daniel, David, Joeseph, Queen Ester, etc.). Along with scripture, what a great way to make the Bible more real to Children.
But none of the "spiritual leaders" of today are heros of the Faith! Selling their liknesses to children smacks of idolatry.
---Donna66 on 5/18/09|
Leon, you sound like one of those old fuddy-duddys I used to know when I was a kid!
I know about kids,I get right down on the floor and play at their level (I have 24 grand and great-grands)
I can skip and play ball with any age!
They start with fantasy and grow into reality! Not like the fundamentalists who become "religious" and enter into beliefs more bizarre than childish fantasy!
Like God barbecuing humans just to make them scream! aaaaaaaah!
---1st_cliff on 5/17/09|
You're right Leon, I never want to grow up to be a grumpy old man, like some. SO I'm the world's oldest teenager .
Jesus said (Mat.18.2) "Unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven"
Sheep and goats are of the same genus, crossing a goat and sheep you get a geep but, like the mule is sterile!
Meaning? Jesus separates them ,because the "goat" is stubborn, self willed, stiff necked and rebellious, not suited for the Kingdom.
Difference? Attitude! Demons were Angels with a bad attitude!
Christian attitude- love,joy, faith,goodness....you know!

Cliff: "...reality sucks!"?
Your comment sounds like something Peter Pan might've said. It corresponds with the immature Panism, "I'll never grow up...never grow up...".
Is fantasy "really" more desireable than reality to you? If so, that really does explain an awful lot about your staunchly adhered to Never Neverland views. :)
p.s. I enjoyed your...Barbie joke also. :D
SusieB: I agree. That would be kinda like Chuckie having a really, "really" bad hair day! :C
---Leon on 5/17/09|
Pharisee, "When I was a child I thought as a child"
To a child the whole world is a fantasy, why spoil it?
You and I know *reality sucks!
They get *there soon enough!
---1st_cliff on 5/14/09|
Better to keep a child busy with reality then in the throws of idle fantasy.

The dog is chewing on the Benny doll, but appears to be sick.

Cliff and Glen, you guys pegged it. Needed a good laugh this morning.
---Trav on 5/12/09|
Cliff: You are so funny!!! I love that one!!!
As for real heroes vs. fiction heroes, all cultures have had fictional heroes as part of their legends. It is good for children to have fantasy heroes to play with and create stories with. It does not undermine their belief in God. I would rather my grandson have a hero doll like King David, than one that represents a rock star, or Ken, who does nothing but date Barbie.
---Trish9863 on 5/11/09|
Some Christians use the 'Bible action figures' to reinforce Bible concepts, and they are an alternative to 'bratz' dolls, etc.
Your daughter is playing. The T.D. action figure is telling the Paula doll "Woman thou art loosed". The Randy White doll appears to be broken. Meanwhile, the Joel doll keeps saying I don't know, Larry, I just don't know. Your son is hitting the Bynum dolls together. and Juanita seems to be winning. But why is she wearing lingerie? The dog is chewing on the Benny doll, but appears to be sick. The Kenneth doll is asking you to buy him a Bombardier Global Express XRS, and assures you he will only use it for ministry purposes.

OK, now I'm truly convinced that the end times are here!
---TIMOTHY on 5/11/09|
Not a toy!
But, if your children see you day after day, praying to the air.
One day, they will ask you, what you are doing.
Then you can explain.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
This they will understand.
Because a toy does not possess, neither spirit nor truth!
---TheSeg on 5/11/09|
I think our children need real people who are heroes in their real lives, today, who the children know personally and can learn with them how to relate in love so they know how to make their marriages work, among other things. Bonding with toys and TV and a babysitter who is there for the money . . . and heroes they hear say-so about, but do not know them really - - - if they bond with toys and money-makers and ones of their own imagination . . . you "might" find, later, that they won't be bonded with you, for hearing and doing what you tell them. But they will pick up your *ways*, and doing what these ways have you doing in secret, possibly, without you needing to tell them.

** While being interviewed by Larry King on live television, Joel Olsteen repeatedly denied and rejected CHRIST as being the only way to GOD and to receive SALVATION.
In his sermon entitled "I HAVE SEEN THE STAR", T.D. Jakes said the people of GOD are to be WALKING IN DARKNESS.**
I would like to know the context in which these things were said.
Jakes, for example, could have meant that Christians bring the light of Christ into dark places.

I just keep thinking of Jan Crouch as this senior barbie! Scary!!!!

Paula White teaches if you want to reach and receive a BLESSING FROM GOD, you must go through herself and send her your money.

A.M.D, Maybe we could use a "Catholic Barbie? Jewish Barbie? Muslim Barbie??
Maybe you're on to something here!
In the toy store all the Barbies were the same price except the one called "divorce Barbie"
customer, Why is this one so much more than the others?
clerk, Well with this one you get Ken's house, car, furniture and Ken's best friend!
---1st_cliff on 5/10/09|
I think that children can benefit from manipulatives, but I wouldn't make action figures out of Joel Osteen, etc. These famous people already have lots of money. Let's not make them into toys as well.
---amand6348 on 5/10/09|
And then when they grow up, they will have associated characters in the Bible with childish toys, which will make them that much easier to give up.
