There are 3 "heavens" spoken of in the Bible:
-the atmospheric heavens where birds fly
-the stellar heavens made op of the planets an stars and
-{aradise where God lives.
For this queston we will limit the answer to the "hird heaven" the home of God and the huly angls, the place where God will take theredeemed people when Jesus returns.
The Bible says that "heaven"is a real place where we will be occupied with real activities. It is a place without tears and without mourning, no violence either. It will be a peaceful place full of joy.
It will be a happy place, filled with boys and girls.

OOPS! My last post was meant to be directed to 1st Cliff and not Lee.
---Rob on 6/7/09

Lee, as I have written before the word PARADISE is found only three times in the entire Bible. All three times are found in the New Testament.

Please give me some clarification. Are you saying in the Bible the word PARADISE was written in PERSIAN and not GREEK.

I do have and also use a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. It lists the translation of the word PARADISE in GREEK.
---Rob on 6/6/09

Rob- Good, tell it like it is.
---Betty on 6/5/09

Rob, Before you break a leg jumping at conclusions,I said the word "paradise" used here was Persian" not the whole NT!
See Strong's Concordance!
OK? Now you can get back up on your pedestal!
---1st_cliff on 6/4/09

1st Cliff, paradise being Persian and not greek is a new one for me.

I have been studying the Bible for over 40 years and have always had the understanding the NEW TESTAMENT WAS WRITTEN IN GREEK.

Some of the things I have heard through the years, especially in the day and age we now live in do not surprise me. More and more people are doing what is written in Romans 1:25. I have also learned those people who do this tend to hate and despise me, because I have the nerve to follow the command written in 2 Timothy 2:14-19, along with the example found in Acts 17:11.
---Rob on 6/4/09

There is a spiritual paradise.
---Betty on 6/3/09

Rob, The word paradise used in luke is actually Persian not Greek and it means park or garden with trees. These are earthly terms!
---1st_cliff on 5/27/09

rob- Christ is God and He is in Heaven except when He decides to go somewhere else for a while. Matthew chapter 5. If you mean Jesus mentioned the Kingdom of Heaven, that is what He will establish on the earth & is also known as the New World & the Holy City, the New Jerusalem. See Revelation 21-22. Jesus told the thief on the cross he would be with Him in Paradise that day. Notice He didn't say Heaven.
---Betty on 5/27/09

nobody knows wut heaven will b like all they know is that it will be the most beautiful place ever!!! :)
---shelby on 5/27/09

Betty, you wrote we won't do anything in Heaven because we won't go there. I don't know where you get your teaching or theology. I guess you have never read Matthew Chapter Five and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

The word PARADISE is found only three times in the Bible. The Greek word for PARADISE is PARADEISOS which means future place of happiness. In Luke 23:43, Jesus was speaking to the thief and the thief only.

If Heaven is God's dwelling place and there are no others there except angels where is Christ? Mark 16:19.

---Rob on 5/27/09

Without Satan's poison to distract us, we will joyously love God and each other to the fullest.
---Deb on 5/27/09

Betty, You know what? you almost have it right!
Paradise is Eden restored, here on Terra fir ma. "Behold I create new heavens and new EARTH!"
Fundamentalists don't have that in their bible only the heaven part!(I think they hide these scriptures)
"Blessed are the meek for they inherit the EARTH!"
Hab.2.14" For the EARTH will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea"
Psl. 37.29." for the righteous will possess the LAND and dwell in it forever"
---1st_cliff on 5/26/09

We will not do anything in Heaven, because we won't go there. Good Christians go to Paradise. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him, "Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in Paradise." Jesus said, " To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." When the New World (the Kingdom of God) is established, we will live there. Heaven is God's dwelling place. There are no others there except angels.
---Betty on 5/26/09

well. Lets say it wont be like the world. No greed, jealousy, love of money, hate, all those things.
---tom2 on 5/25/09

scripture tells us that we know in part, but one day we will know.living on this planet we can only know in part. Its amusing when people ask what heaven is like, and what we will do there.I guess its hard to comprehend ETERNAL joy.

We live in a world full or tears, pain and death. Can you really, truly imagine such concepts? Not in your wildest imagination. Not until we actually experience it shall we really know for sure. So keep the hope alive in Jesus.

JIM: "Steveng.....Paul did not say "at the first resurrection of course".
Paul said to die is gain. How is it to his advantage if he dies and has to wait."

When a person dies, he will seem like he died seconds ago because he has no concept of time. At the first resurrection, the dead in christ shall rise first and the living shall be caught up with them. If all christians are now in heaven, who are the dead that rise?

JIM: "Now how do you see it?"

As I told you, this letter was about Paul. You are taking it out of context, out of the situation Paul was in. He was in prison awaiting his sentencing - will he live or will he die. It wasn't his choice. If he lived, he would continue to labor in Christ. If he died, he would be in the presence of the Lord. If you were in his place, which would be better - to live for Christ or to die and go into the presence of the Lord (at the first resurrection, of course).

Today's christians are just too knowledgable. They analyze every verse they read. Read the bible through the eyes of a child, not the mind of an adult. It will make your christian life a lot easier.
---Steveng on 5/20/09

Steveng...what do i think Paul ment. I believe when you die you are in the presence of Almighty God. It would be to Pauls advantage to die because he would be with the Lord.
Now how do you see it?

---JIM on 5/20/09

JIM: "What do you think Paul ment when he said: To live is Christ and to die is gain?"

Like most christians, you take this verse out of context. You must read the entire letter especially the beginning of the verse you quoted which says "To me..." Paul was in prison waiting for his possible death sentence and writes: "If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far."

If he lives, he will continue to labor for Christ. If he dies, he will be with Christ - which is far better.

amand6348: "Revelation's last chapters, and you could read Heaven is Real and 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. Those were good books. It's about a man who actually died and went to Heaven."

Are you telling your readers to read novels about false ideas and half lies? It seems nearly everyone who reads novels start to believe everything in them. Just because a few paragraphs mention something that is biblical, it doesn't mean everything is the truth.

No one has gone to heaven yet.
---Steveng on 5/18/09

Cliff: You have fundamentalism on the brain. Heal!!! :)
---Leon on 5/18/09

That's a great question. I recommend that you do some reading for the answers. Revelation's last chapters, and you could read Heaven is Real and 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. Those were good books. It's about a man who actually died and went to Heaven.

God Bless

God said to Adam "Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth..."
Fundamentalist says "NO no God has changed His mind, everyone is going to heaven"
Satan was successful in scrapping the idea that man will live on an "Edenic" earth!
God gave man the choice of life or death (Rom.6.23)
Fundamentalist says No no everybody lives forever,up on a cloud playing a harp or standing in a fire that serves no purpose but to inflict pain!
Bible says earth is man's home Ps.115.16,Isa 45.Hab 2.1418 I'm not led astray by fundamentalists!

Love, joy, worship, singing, peace, "death will be no more, mourning and crying and pain will be no more,"

Can you REALLY imagine something like this? I doubt it.

Heaven could never be described in human words. God used similes and metaphors to describe himself with a little success. We as human could never really comprehend God or heaven. Trying to do so would be futile. It's beyond human comprehention no matter how much you try - a person cannot describe spiritual things in a worldly way. You cannot describe something that is indescribable. However you describe heaven, it's a googolplex greater than how you think and that, too, is putting a limit on the description. It's infinately much more.
---Steveng on 5/15/09

There will be no conservative, liberals, gays and the other stupid stuff we now believe is important. We will want and will have time for only worship, constant worship.
There will be no judging and silly arguments over whether Bush, who told CBN he doesn't take the bible literally is really a Christian. No arguments whether Benny Hinn is a charlatan or whether Obama's claim to be a christian is specious. God will decide all of this and scenes we can't imagine such as Jerry Falwell accepting Hillary Clinton as a sister in Christ will be everywhere. Can you imagine singing praises before the throne only to turn and notice Lincoln, Moody and King standing next to you? Wow.
---larry on 5/15/09

Personal opinion: What do you like? What are your favorite things? I think the Lord is happy to give us the good desires of our hearts. My favorite color is blue and I love the smell of honeysuckle and lilac. So, naturally, I assume these may be accommodated. Reciprocally, what are God's favorite things? I assume these will be accommodated by us as well. What will we do? Created beings in heaven have specific assignments. I think we will too. Gabriel is a messenger, Michael, a warrior. Some angels praise and I imagine some are builders, helping Jesus prepare places for us in heaven.
---Vicki on 5/15/09

We will greatly astonished at what Heaven is really like. We cannot even imagine. But, I know one thing for sure. I plan to continue praising the Lord immediately upon entering the gates.
