I would have to say that the bride is the holy city, the new jerusalem. In the bible johns says: I will show yo the bride ... and he was shown the holy city.
In galations paul says that the New jeresalem is The mother of us all.

I do not believe that the church is the bride, but the relationship between Jesus and the church should be as man and bride.
WHen paul speaks of the church as a bride, he prefaces is with.. i tell you a folly..
if it is a folly it cannot be true and real.

Then Jesus will return to His First chosen, the Jewish people.
****

He is? then your salvation is WORTHLESS and unsupported by scripture

True Christians are ones who OBEY and KEEP Gods commandments following examples of all Christ did ...THESE ARE the first fruits Rom 8:23 1Corin 15:23, Rev 14:4

Jews dismiss, ignore, and rejected all of Christ because they believe prophecies about The Messiah have not been fulfilled yet ...the Jews have not been forgotten they are NOT part of the resurrection 1Corin 15 of True Christians who ARE anticipating 2Pet 3:13 the 1000 year Millennium Rev 20:6

Good to see you posting again Char.
Word studies in the original languages used is a beautiful thing.
May the Father continue to inspire in you that desire, and a desire to share that which He blesses you to understand.

Lawrence, nice post but no meat. Where are the scriptures confirming your statement above.
Convince me with scripture.

Lawrence, I deduce by your response your a preacher. Preachers usually like you just to take their take on any Biblical subject.

Judah was one tribe. 1/13 if you look of all of Is-ra-el.
Is-ra-el reunited can be found all the way to the end of Revelations. Marching into the New Jerusalem. Not just Judah. Rev 21:12
The new covenant Heb 8:8, Jer 31:31...
whether in agreement or not.

God used similes, metaphors and parables to describe Himself and His activities. There was a time when marriage was the highest form of bonding or joining together of two people. Christ is returning not to join with (marry) a building, non-profit corporation, a denomination, or a city, but is returning to join or bond with (marry) His people. Marrying an inanimate object (as a city) is not the nature of God.

The Church Is The Bride of Christ. God's Church was born on the day of Penetecost according to Acts 2 v's 37-41 which Fulfills Matt. 28 v's 19-20. The dead in Christ will rise first, then those are alive in God's Chuch as described in the above, will be caught up together to meet Jesus in the air. People think that God allows looseness & or anything goes, Not so, God Is a Strict God in Holy living & all. Then Jesus will return to His First chosen, the Jewish people.

You previously asked if God was married. I replied along the lines-God is not man so cannot marry in the human sense but is married to His followers.
Isaiah 54:5 & Jer. 31:32 Jesus 'bride' Rev. 21:9 & 22:17.

Isa 54:
5 For your Maker is your husband LORD Almighty is his name Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, he is called God of all earth.
6 The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God.

22And I will make them ONE NATION in the land upon the mountains of Israel, and ONE KING shall be king to THEM all: they shall be NO MORE TWO NATIONS, NEITHER shall they be DIVIDED INTO TWO KINGDOMS ANY MORE AT ALL.
23....., and will cleanse them: so shall they be MY people,I will be THEIR God.

24 David my servant shall be king over them, they all shall have one shepherd: ... 25 ..... they shall dwell therein, even they, their children, and their children's children FOREVER: my servant David shall be their prince FOREVER

26 Moreover I will make a COVENANT of peace with them, it shall be an EVERLASTING covenant with them: I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Hebrews 8:7-9

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

Whether we like it or not....I'm gonna go with his choice. He loves her....I love her. Isn't she beautiful! Isn't the wedding awesome! Perhaps I can help with the wedding....

Revelations 21:9-10 says,"9-And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10-And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,"

"As I live, saith the LORD (concerning Zion) you shall cloth your self with them all (the saints of God) as with an ornament, and bind them [on you], as a bride [does].
For Zions sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp [that] burneth.
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. And the gentiles shall see thy righteousness,...and thou shall be called by a new name..."

Speaking of the people of Jerusalem.
Jer.3:14 Turn O backsliding children saith the LORD, for I am 'married' (Lord and master) unto you.
Speaking of Jerusalem.
Isa. 62:4,5 Thou shall no more be termed forsaken, neither shall your land any more be termed desolate, but you shall be called 'Hephzibah' (My delight) and your land 'Beulah' (the master's wife) for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.
Isa.62:5-For [as] a young man marrieth a virgin, [so] shall 'thy sons' marry thee: and [as] the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, [so] shall thy God rejoice over thee.
Isa.62:12-And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Thus saith the LORD God unto Jerusalem, when I passed by you, and looked upon you, behold your time [was] the time of love, and I 'spread My skirt over you, and covered your nakedness': (translation: The Father took Jerusalem [as the geographical location] to be His wife). Yes, I sware unto you, and entered into a covenant with you, saith the LORD God, and you became mine. And of Zion it shall be said, this and that man was born of Her: (as the mother of His children)
As I live, saith the LORD (concerning Zion) you shall cloth your self with them all (the saints of God) as with an ornament, and bind them [on you], as a bride [does].
The Church is the body of Christ, not His bride.

Joseph. I hope you don't really believe that an empty city with nothing in it but gold, shimmering diamonds, and jewels is the actual bride. How can we believe that God is married to a pile of gold and gems?It is the people (those whom he has redeemed) who will live in the city. God certainly would not be married to a pile of gold and jewels. We are his jewels. We are who will be living in the city. We are the bride.

Anyone who is faithful to Christ.
---amand6348 on 5/17/09

Well, you might clarify what you mean by "the church". The church would be the Bride of Christ, but the church does not include people who say they are Christians but do not become "faithful" to our Groom Jesus. So, what does it mean to be "faithful" to Jesus?

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)

So, my reason to have "boldness in the day of judgment" is that I have become perfected in God's love making me holy the way His love is holy. Or else, I am not being faithful to obey our Groom Jesus.

"Who is the bride of Christ, the church or the tribes of Israel?" Neither.

"Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,.... prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready."

Christ is the bridegroom...his redeemed are the bride.
---Pharisee on 5/15/09

The Church ( Bride of Christ ) consist of those whose who are filled with the Holy Ghost during this Dispensation of Grace. There is one Bride of Christ, but the blood of Jesus paid for the sins of all.
The crucifixion paid for the sins of those of the Edenic Dispensation, the Anti-Diluvian Dispensation, the Post Diluvian Dispensation, the Patriarchal Dispensation, the Dispensation of The Law, this present Dispensation of Grace and the Latter Dispensation of The Law.
The Latter Dispensation of The Law will only be open to the Hebrews to fulfill the prophecies of The Old Testament. ( Lev. 26:14-39 )
Many people refer to that Dispensation as the Seven Years of Tribulation.
