You will receive the Holy Spirit by walking in obedience to God/Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit continually. Acts 2, the disciples were baptised with the Holy Spirit as they continued to obey the word of the Lord Jesus that they should wait in Jerusalem until they will receive power from on high. Acts 10. Cornelius family sent for Peter as the angel of God instructed them, they heard the word from Peter and they believed in their hearts. |

Duane, I agree with you brother, and here is why.
First, a person who is lost does not have God. And all people who come to Christ is because they have a love for Christ or else they would not be coming to Him. How can they come without the Love of God in them? If God is Love, and they don't have God in their lives, how can they come to Christ?
Second, they believe they can have faith while lost to come to Christ. When it is God who gives them saving faith so they can believe and come to Christ. Faith and repentance are gifts to those who are born again.
Third, if they are saved without the Holy Spirit bringing them to life or regenerating them, how can they enter the kingdom of heaven without been born again? |

A lost person doesnt repent of sin to be saved, he repents towards God to be saved.(through faith). Only the Lord can set a person free from sin.

Repent and be baptised.
Baptism came from the washings or Mikvah, baths. A cleansing. People understood it to mean a change in life perspective. To be cleansed of your old way.
Repentance is simply changing your mind about God and who and what you are in Christ. To repent and be baptised is to change your life towards God in Jesus Christ.
That is when you are ready to receive the holy spirit. There is no difference between holy spirit and holy ghost. It is just an old way of saying the same thing. There is no second blessing, second baptism, second anything. There is only one baptism and one faith. The Nicene and Apostle Creeds agree on those facts. |

Because Acts chapter 2, veryse 8, Peter says, REPENT, BE BAPTIZED in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. He's not referring to Water Baptism, Peter is referring to Holy Ghost Baptism.
If you read the entire book of Acts, only one person was water baptized, why? Do you know why? Because when Jesus was water baptized, the Dove came down from heaven and rested upon Him. That Dove represents the Holy Spirit. That day Jesus exchanged water baptism for Holy Spirit Baptism. It doesn't automatically come upon us, you get it as the book of Acts tells how. |

I find it interesting the use of get. GET saved, GET salvation, GET the holy spirit. None of which is biblical. Receive the holy spirit, receive salvation, receive grace, receive reconciliation. That is because God already gave. We cannot get from God what he already gave freely.
You receive because you believe what God has already done to humanity through Christ. The reason many do not receive is because they do not believe. If someone tells you that you have a million dollars in the bank in your name, freely to take, it does you no good to not believe it. It's still yours, it's still requires you to believe. But you still live in poverty because you have not received.

The word of God clearly says in John 14 that he left the Holy Spirit for us. . . once we receive Jesus we receive the gift. The book of Acts tell us, "By the laying on of hands."
Read the book of Acts - you will see that they laid hands on people and Baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Find someone who has the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and ask them to pray for you to have it. Study Acts and the scriptures in there about how you get it. By the laying on of hands. |

No one 'gets', as in to procure, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is given as a gift.
Believe on the Lord Jesus, The Christ, and you shall be saved. With actual salvation comes the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. As you are empowered to yield, submit, and to adhere to His Spirit, without opposition and/or rationalizations, you are immersed into His Spirit. Rather than seeking an outward sign, look within to discern whether that which is produced of the Spirit is being made manifest within you, to be reflected without. |

John, you must be born again of the Spirit to get the endwelling of the Spirit. For it is the Holy Spirit who testifies of Jesus and makes His truth known to us, once He does, we confess Him as our Lord and Savior.
No amount of free will can make a person born again, it is an act of God. The Spirit comes and quicken's the heart, and brings it to life. Without that quickening of the Spirit a lost person continues towards his own destiney. |

obey > do exactly what God has you do, and this will get you into living in the Holy Spirit. But this means unconditionally being open for howsoever God at each moment will have you do what He wants. You have Him by obeying Him . . . in His peace > Colossians 3:15.
If you stay on Daddy's lap, you have Daddy. But this means very close and immediate correction, if we stay with Daddy > Hebrews 12:4-11. Notice how John was so immediately corrected in Revelation, when he sinned, because He was close to God > Revelation 19:9-10.
But if you play out back in the swamp, you will get eaten alive by mosquitoes and their diseases of emotional troubles and degradation of pleasure seeking. |
