rhonda- 1Peter 3:19 "By which also He (Jesus) went and preached unto the spirits in prison...." Matthew 26:41 Jesus showed a difference between spirit & body, "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Luke 24:39 Jesus said, "...for a spirit hath not flesh and bones...." Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with Him in Paradise that day. The thief's body didn't go to Paradise, his spirit did.

rhonda- the resurrection is for the body, not the spirit.
then your "Bible" must omit 1Corin 15 you should give it a read it's in the KJV
ghosts are simply demons ...they are the ministers of Satan who is the god of this world 2Corin 4:4
all human beings who are DEAD ...are really DEAD and are waiting the resurrection of ALL 1Corin 15 ...DEAD people are not roaming the earth it is SIMPLY Satans demons
1Corin 15 IS A MYSTERY to those who follow ANOTHER Jesus 2Corin 11:4 where IT teaches antichrist doctrine every dead person is resurrected immediately at death
---Rhonda on 10/1/09|
rhonda- the resurrection is for the body, not the spirit.

Yes, I believe in the after life. If you have been on a rez.You will see things,i guess were never you go there will be sonmething good or bad by you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
---jessica on 9/30/09|
Yes Glenn and I can tell you why you misunderstand these very same verses to IMPLY God had another meaning when he tells us the dead know nothing and shall not live and will be as if they never were ...I noticed you did not attempt to reconcile your misunderstanding to this plain truth
you choose to evaluate the plain truth of these verses through Dante's hell-fire poem ...Dante was not a christian he was a pagan philosopher
hell is simply the grave ...when Christ returns to rule the earth he will RESURRECT ALL from the grave 1Corin 15 ...counterfeit christianity believes there is a mini resurrection every time a person dies which is antichrist to Word of God
---Rhonda on 9/29/09|
steveng- Their spirits were not with them in the grave, or they would have been alive. Their spirits went either to hell or Paradise. The resurrection is going to raise the body & join the body & spirit to be judged.
---Betty on 9/29/09|
Well Sharon we disagree about what happens to a person when they die. But we agree all so called Ghosts are really demons. So to stay away from them.
Let us praise GOD for that.
---Samuel on 9/29/09|
There are no "ghosts". After a person dies, their soul either goes to Heaven or Hell. I believe that the prince of this world (Satan) and his demons are the culprits preying on human minds making them think that there are ghosts of past dead. So, no to ghosts and yes to demons. They are all over the earth and are territorial. All born again Christians have power over Satan and his demons and they know this. Christians should NOT fear them because they fear the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus. They cannot possess a true believer because the Holy Spirit indwells a true believer but they can harass us. We should always be prepared to speak the Word of God in scriptures when a demon chooses to harass us. That is our power!!

Betty: "steveng- Since Christ arose from the dead, Christians go to Paradise, the wicked go to hell & Jesus said so."
Yes, Jesus said so, but you left out an important element - time. People go to heaven and hell at a future time. There are two resurrections: the first is when Jesus returns and the dead in Christ shall rise first and the living shall be caught up with them. If all the dead christians are in heaven already, who are the dead in Christ that rise?
The second resurrection is at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ when all the other dead shall rise and be judged from the Book of Life - according to their works.
Blessed are those that rise in the first resurrection.
---Steveng on 9/28/09|
yesthey are real beause they are spirts that are trapped on earth .But beware of the bad ones.
---Daje on 9/28/09|
Ghost are either the figments of people imagination or Demons they are not people. As for what lives on after death. JESUS answered that there is a resurrection of the dead.
Mat 22:31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, Mat 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Luk 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead,...
Jhn 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live
---Samuel on 9/28/09|
I can give scripture, but can't force you to understand them, Titus 2:1 vs. 1Corinthians 15:33, 2Timothy 3:7, 2Peter 3:16. The Bible interprets itself, and is sufficient, 2Timothy 3:16-17. To sleep, and to awake (Psalm 17:5), are euphemisms concerning the body, and not ones Spirit. Please see the list on 9/23 and the following verses: Exodus 3:6 / Mark 12:26 ("I am", not I was), 1Kings 17:21 & Luke 8:52, 55, came from elsewhere, not "soul-sleeping", Ecclesiastes 12:7, Matthew 10:28, Acts 7:59, 2Peter 2:9 (Luke 16:24), Revelations 6:9-11.
p.s. Would you like more information on becoming a Christian?

steveng- Since Christ arose from the dead, Christians go to Paradise, the wicked go to hell & Jesus said so.
---Betty on 9/28/09|
"You"... "twist verses"... Please present your evidence of such. Ecclesiastes 9:6, "under the sun" means in this life. And so, people who have passed on neither appreciate, nor get benefit, from the things on the earth. They are concerned with their present situation. Acts 2:31 "He seeing this before", being David, one thousand years before its completion. David did not ascend in his physical body, but his Spirit's there. John 3:13 (Ephesians 4:9-10), ascended up to is a clause with descended from. Only Jesus has done both, and through his own volition, and he has spoken thereof. Genesis 5:24 / Hebrews 11:5, 2Kings 2:11, Matthew 7:3, notwithstanding.
---Glenn on 9/28/09|
Since death does not separate us from the love of God, then these verses imply there is a continued consciousness after death
no ONE verse holds ALL meaning ...Gods Word does not read like a story book
IMPLY meaning by REASONING one verse this gross misunderstanding IGNORES Matt 10:28 ...IMPLY is ADDING to Holy Word of God to discredit Eph. 2:20, Matt. 4:4, Luke 4:4, Deut. 8:3
do not know God
their thoughts perish
the soul that sins shall die
dead shall be as though they had NEVER been
IMPLY meaning of one verse must dismiss BASIC scripture on death result is MOCKING future inheritance of salvation and resurrection of ALL 1Corin 15
---Rhonda on 9/28/09|
Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Since death does not separate us from the love of God, then these verses imply there is a continued consciousness after death. It is simply the body that sleeps in the grave to be re-united with our spirit at the resurrection.

Glenn: "Steveng: Christians believe that upon death, believers immediately go into God's presence, and unbelievers go to Hell..,
You pick, choose, and twist verses to achieve Your selfish desired result. Have you read ALL of Ecclesiastes 9:5-6?
"Acts 2:29-35, David had not ascended when he wrote this as he was still living on the earth. Jesus wasn't 'soul -sleeping' for the three days before his resurrection. We don't either!"
You have called Jesus a liar for he said that "no one has ascended into heaven," but Himself. And where did you get that David is still living on the earth?
---Steveng on 9/25/09|
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, demonstrates that the dead have no knowledge of earthly affairs, but both those in Heaven, and those in Hell, know of their present abode.
they have no knowledge of "earthly affairs"?
they know of their "present abode" in these fictional places of hell and heaven?
one MUST ADD and IMPLY these idea's to Ecc 9:5-6 which is antichrist to Gods Holy Word
earthly affairs and present abode are reasoning of man and VOID of God
the dead are in hell simply the grave waiting the resurrection at Christs second coming ...it is a mystery to counterfeit christians 1Corin 15 who serve pagan traditions of heaven and hell found nowhere in scripture
---Rhonda on 9/24/09|
Christians believe that upon death, believers immediately go into God's presence, and unbelievers go to Hell, Matthew 17:1-9 / Mark 9:2-10 / Luke 9:28-36, Luke 16:22-31, 23:43, John 14:2-3, 23, 2Corinthians 5:6-8, Philippians 1:23 / Numbers 16:30-33.
Job 14:21-22, Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, demonstrates that the dead have no knowledge of earthly affairs, but both those in Heaven, and those in Hell, know of their present abode. Acts 2:29-35, David had not ascended when he wrote this as he was still living on the earth. Jesus wasn't 'soul -sleeping' for the three days before his resurrection. We don't either!

There are people who believe so strongly in spirits, that they jump at shadows. Yet, there are demons (familiar spirits) that can do an imitation of a person. They desire to destroy you, but Jesus was sent to give you life *1. God offers you liberty and salvation through receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (who paid the price through his death on the cross). The Lord will set you free if you so desire. Do not participate in witchcraft, and necromancy *2.

Humans are dead until the first or second resurrection.
The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished, neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10
For those who see "ghosts" are demons who are pretending to be your loved ones to deceive you, to go against the Word of God..
---Steveng on 9/22/09|
Ghosts and other similar beings are real.
Ghosts are those beings that went from being human with a body to what they are now.
Other entities may never have been human with a body. Some of them may be good, and some may not be.
They seem to one or species and, like any other species, some can be very good to interact with and others you want to watch out for.

In Luke 24:37-38-39 Jesus says,"37-But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38-And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39-Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have." Notice the last phrase
(for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.)
Does this phrase confirmed that Jesus believe there were spirits? You judge

Ghosts are demons. Demons are real.
---Betty on 9/22/09|
I agree with Cluny. Demons, spiritualism. etc. are the only real spiritual entities one might encounter other than perhaps God's angels. People do not continue to live after they die (Ec 9:5). They rest in the grave until they are given immortality at the 2nd coming of Jesus.

Ghosts exist, but they are not the spirits of dead people.
They are nothing but demons.
