It was Peter exhorting or encouraging the Christians, and not Paul. And Peter did not say "fix" your hope completely on grace. lit.Gk: "Therefore girding up the loins, that mind of you, be sober, completely eager over the grace being brought to you at revelation of Jesus Christ." I Peter 1:13.

"What did Paul mean about fixing our hope completely on grace?"
We are to remain calm and collected in spirit, as in our attitude, demeanor and habitual way of acting towards and relating to life. Fully expecting the merciful kindness of our Father's Divine influence, which brought us to Him, to carry us by and/or through the revelation, or disclosed truth made manifest in and through Jesus, the Christ, as the Anointed Saviour of mankind. "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men." Therefore our primary Focus should be on "an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for [us] who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation."

The grace is how God is with us in His Holy Spirit's love, effecting us so we do what the next verses say > "as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct," (1 Peter 1:14-15) God in us effects us with His love, so we get clear and free of the "lusts" > those different dominating and dictatorial drives for pleasures and revenge and other foolishness of Satan's spirit (Ephesians 2:2). And, instead, grace makes us how His *all*-loving love is holy > beautiful in Heaven's pleasant rest with caring for *all* people. This makes us compatible with our Groom Jesus, so we can spend eternity with Him.

-- Bob :

Brother, It was Peter, not Paul, and he's speaking of the same renewing of mind that Paul spoke of in Rom.12:2.

Our minds no longer being conformed to the hopes of this world, knowing that we were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from our vain conversation received by tradition from our fathers, but with the Precious Blood of Christ.

We're to pass the time of our sojourning here in fear, Hoping to the End for the Grace brought unto us at the Revelation of Christ, enables us to share & prove what is that good, acceptable & perfect Will of God.
