Thamks Leon. 9 feet sounds right. He had a brother who was tall as well.

Incidently the sling is the weapon of choice for a large beast or man. Very effective at long range. Like a gun. David was oviously well trained at using it.
God Bless!

I didn't say David couldn't lift the sword Elder. Obviously, he could. :)

The Bible doesn't say, but I wonder what the sword of Goliath was like. Was it longer than 4'? What did it weigh -- 10-15 lbs?

The typical Philistine sword of that era was long, straight & made of iron -- heavy. Yet, some historians believe Goliath wore a sword on his back & it was a curved blade Sickle sword.

Your stmt makes sense Pastor Jim. I think David was one of the 1st to say I can do all things thru God who strengthens me. Welcome to CN blogs. I look forward to respectfully reasoning with you. :)

Some say Goliath was 9'+ tall. Whether he was or not, he certainly was a giant -- one really big, intimidating dude!

Well Goliath was tall about 7-8 feet. I'm sure Dvaid could pick up his sword and since Goliath was on the ground the weight and sharpness of the sword made it easy to chop his head.

What makes you think it weighed so much that David couldn't lift it?

There are not 51 verses in Genesis 17, which is about cutting something else off.

And the chapter is NOT about David.
