When the Mayflower returned to England, it was dismantled and the lumber was used to make a Pub.

Now called "The Mayflower Pub".

Alan have you been there?
Is it in London or Manchester? Not sure.

Reflection: On Thanksgiving Day, my family was visited by my 2d cousin & family. Cuz & wife drove to S.A., from Savannah, to attend the Air Force basic military training graduation of their son. The next morning, while listening to the band, I watched the flights of young airmen & their TIs march pass the reviewing stand. Standing, with hand over heart, a lump in my throat & tears in my eyes, I saw my 3d cuz proudly carrying the American Flag. I thought how proud his late grandpa (my 1st Cuz) would've been to see him. He & I were like brothers, & both served in the USAF. His dad, active duty Army, in full dress uniform, stood at attention & saluted as they marched by. It was fantastic! THANK GOD!!!

We all survived Thanksgiving. There were 22 people there even some we didn't know and it was nice to meet. We make it a policy to invite anyone who doesn't have a family here to let us be their family,or at least friends, for Thanksgiving. A lot of times they become regulars and we love having them for after the first visit they are considered family. Only 2 downsides,Mom is no longer able to make the hour trip to the Deer Cabin to be with us,she tires too quickly. She does have a gentleman friend who comes to her house,we take them food, and he visits. Plus my husbands brother and sister-in-law can't come due to her ill health but my daughter(daughter-in-law)took food from the Cabin to them. God is good and I give thanks for all his blessings.

Miche3754 You really have your life full of serious troubles but it is refreshing to see your attitude. I will be praying for all those needs. May all your burdens feel light and may Gods strength be yours for whatever you or your loved ones face. Mom and I do what you do,count our blessings, living in the light of Gods love, not the heaviness of lifes trials. God Bless

I found out my dad is dying. His cancer was cleared from his lungs BUT has spread to the rest of his body. The doctors have said RIGHTLY that its up to God. Hospice comes in everyday to make him comfortable, I do a lot of praying and make sure hes eating right.
My daughter is being extremely rebelious skipping school, cursing out teachers, vandalism of the school. I pray for her too.
My grandma who helped raise me and tell me about God, is in the hospital in ICU. She is on a vent. I thank God she is saved and pray for her too.
I have to find the money for a new battery for my car. Other than these things, Im still blessed! I get to get up every morning and go to work. I thank God for my trials because it just brings me closer to him!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
I will miss the holiday this year since I have a knee replacement the day before. It has been canceled twice before for not-very-serious health concerns. I can walk only a short distance (with a cane), but have some sense of foreboding about this procedure. I've had more serious surgeries in the past without any fear, so please, if you think of it, pray for me. Bless you all!
---Donna66 on 11/23/09

Happy Thanksgiving. May God be with you all,Moderators you too,and your loved ones as you and yours travel at Thanksgiving. May this Thanksgiving bring you all joy and blessings. May love be abundant and peace be with you. God Bless

Darlene, yes, Praise God, for his mercies are renewed day by day, and his lovingkindness is for those whom seek his face. I called the hospital today and they moved her from ICU to a regular "heart" room. I thank you again for your prayings to Jesus for her. Jesus loves the mothers of his people. We serve an awesome God.
---Eloy on 11/20/09

Eloy Praise the Lord that is the best news I am so glad to hear she is recovering. I know how hard it is to see our Moms sick. Mom had the heartattack in January this year, she's 91 and I stayed with her for 5 weeks but praise God he answered so many prayers for her and she is still able to live in her home alone and doing well. God is wonderful in his love and mercy.
---Darlene_1 on 11/19/09

Darlene, Jesus bless you Darlene, she is recuperating well, and getting srtronger. Her name is Betty Stokes. I visit her in the hospital on weekends. She is still in ICU, she had a defibulator put in on Tuesday morning in a four hour operation. Tuesday afternoon I went to see her and she was sitting up in her bed and talking with us that were visiting, with sister Terri, Aunt Polly, and a friend. She is able to eat food also. I think when she gets more stable they will move her from ICU to a regular room.
---Eloy on 11/19/09

Eloy and others who've prayed. Thank you so much. It means so much to know there are those who care and pray for these requests. Jody my prayers are with you too. Eloy How is your Mom doing now? God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 11/19/09

Darlene & Jody, I'm praying for all them. Yes, God is gracious, I think he is more than ready to meet the needs of his people if we would just turn to him in prayer. I have asked some special things from Jesus, and I believe that he will do that what only he can do. Barb? I know, she is a close friend of Elder's, perhaps he can get hold of her. Since I had my old computer stolen, I do not have her email address any longer nor her phone number that was in my computer to contact her. I know, like myself she got disheartened with a lot of the negative postings, and so she might not come back. She is a good person, and I know that she has helped a lot of people on this website. Pray that Barb is ok. I miss her postings also.

Elder...As far as I know every state has a National Guard for emergencies. There are times that martial law is needed, such as the Watts Riots.

KarenD, I hope you were not attacking anyone. I will accept the blame for thinking that you did.
But, do not be surprised, I was serving with a State Military unit that was training to take over areas of the state in case of an "emergency." The paranoia of Mima may not be far off. The mistakes of last year have not found their end yet.
---Elder on 11/10/09

Elder...First of all I am far from being a liberal. I don't recall that I attacked you. Several months ago a moderator posted new rules which said that we could not post more than once on a blog question unless we posted a response to a different person each time. This is what I am referring to. What has began to bother me about Mima's posts in particular is that he posts very paranoid statements and things he has "heard" that are not true. Although I personally believe this country is going down the wrong path with the so-called change they voted for last fall, I don't believe we need to start getting paranoid to think there are concentration camps and that the government is going to call out the militia against us.

PRAYER REQUEST....A very dear friend of my husband's is bipolar and has stopped taking his meds or they have stopped working properly. His wife has kicked him out of the house. He needs our prayers greatly. Thank you.
---KarenD on 11/10/09

Eloy you're very welcome. I am blessed to hear your Mom is on the way to recovery. In January my own Moom, who was 90 at the time had a heart attack. The doctors allowed me to stay in the emergency room when they were working on her and the one in charge was keeping me informed. At first he said it was a massive heartattack,I just kept right on praying it wouldn't be as bad as they thought. After a while the doctor turned around and said the attack wasn't as bad as he thought it was. I just said Praise the Lord and began thanking God for turning thingas around. Mom is 91 now recovered and still living alone. Her last heart checkup was good. God is more than able to do abundantly even over and above what we pray. Still praying. God Bless

Darlene, Thank you so much for your prayers, praise God, for God has answered your prayers. During her operation she had a heart attack and a stroke, and so the doctors decided to keep her heavily sedated until today because they thought if they brought her to waking then the shock would be too much for her and expire her. They have weaned her off of two medicines and her body temperature and blood pressure are stablilized. We did not know if she would be a vegetable when they stopped the sedation, but she is responsive to audible and physical stimulus. I am able now, and plan on going to see her for the first time today. So thank you again so much for your prayers that God is miraculously answering. Indeed we serve a mighty God.
---Eloy on 11/8/09

KarenD ... You can post as many times as you like in a day.

The limit applies to the number of consecutive posts you can make to any one particular blog subject. You are only supposed to post one at a time to a blog, to avoid the great long 6 or 7 part posts that we used to get.

Mima makes many posts sometimes, but it is to different blogs. You could do the same.

Sometimes a post does not get published, but that's often because we don't press the last button, or occasionally the Mod's validly judge what we say as "inappropriate", or as being so close to what someone else has just said that it adds nothing to the discussion
---alan8566_of_uk on 11/8/09

KarenD, do you have heartburn with the moderators, Mima, me and some others here? Com'on let it out don't be so shy. In the last two places that you have posted you have attacked all of the above. (on this log 11/6/09) It is plain that Mima has struck a nerve of yours somewhere. Trish, Oct. blog, is complaining, with validity, about disrespect. She is totally right, but she failed to say she acted the same way. Now you have taken the place of complaining and condemning. I have noticed that the liberal socialist side say what they want and condemn others that respond. Why is that? You complain about Mima and CN. I am surprised that CN posts your condemnation of them like they do. I wonder what they do have to edit of yours.
---Elder on 11/7/09

KarenD,you're welcome. We do need to keep praying for Trish's health and strength. I don't think CNet has a very large staff therefore it would probably be difficult to keep up with every thing bit by bit. I think we just need to pray for them that God will help them get everything done they need to since over a million people come here. Thats a big job to keep everything going smoothly. God Bless
Eloy, hope your mother does well. My prayers are with her and the family. God Bless
KELLA8334,how exciting. My son was born on Friday the 13th and my husbands is in April too. God Bless

Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. The mother of me had triple heart bypass surgery today.
---Eloy on 11/6/09

Darlene...Thanks. I went back and read November What's Up and saw why she left. Sometimes I get sick of these blogs too. What is beginning to get to me is that a couple of posters are given preferential treatment in that they can post anything, no matter how silly, and it get posted. I have noticed that Mima, for instance, gets all of his posts on no matter how many times he posts in one day. I thought that was not allowed. I know that at times the moderators let posts go without checking them and then they are removed later. Why not check them all instead of just the "favorite" posters being allowed to post without checking?
---KarenD on 11/6/09

KarenD,I miss Trish on here too. Trish has stopped for now. There is always an empty spot when one of the regulars quit coming on here. I do ask for your prayers for Trish she is still teaching. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 11/6/09

Thanks to any who prayed yesterday and to the Moderator who got my request on so fast. I am praising God for taking care of our Greatnephew, friend also that the shooting wasn't part of a larger plot in the area and there wasn't a threat to our children. There was so much misinformation coming out yesterday, but I hope its all straight now. I'm glad they did catch the guilty party, who is alive, contrary to news reports yesterday. He is on a ventilator in the hospital. Just an ironic bit of news the police who stopped him was a woman. I must wonder how that devout Muslim will feel about that if he lives. Please pray for her she was shot four times but lives. Our prayers need to continue for the wounded and all the families.

I Thank god to see how many people came out in Maine to stand against sexual depravity. I don't agree with catholic teaching but I have to respect the stand they took. most people are so afraid to stand against the evils of this world, it was refreshing to see I'm not alone.

Update 2 suspects in custody, believed to still be one loose on Post 9 dead,20 wounded, may even be 30,plus not confirmed yet but heard 4 members of SWAT Team were also wounded. Ft Hood now has ordered 500 soldiers to sweep whole Post in case any other suspects there. There was an unconfirmed report of shots in one of Ft Hoods housing areas. My family are all safe including a Greatnephew who works out there and a friend of the family who works in building in that area. Now confirmed shots at two of housing villages on Post. This seems to not be over yet.

Now confirmed at 4 PM,there are 12 dead and 31 wounded. The place where the shooter began is a processing building for soldiers preparing to ship out overseas. There is one shooter dead and they have caught 2 others involved and at lest one was in the Army. It now seems to be over. Thank God. My Greatgrandchildren are ok too.

I spent a total of 4 days, then 9 more days in the hospital, almost died. Diagnosed with 3 blood clots, put on cumudin, released after 4 days. A week later my liver began to bleed to death. Doctors saved my life. Got to the hospital in time and they knew to do blood transfusions and give me frozen blood plasma, cat scan and IV's of all kinds.
I relaxed my body and waited for the ride up to heaven, but God intervened and stopped my liver from bleeding. All of the doctors said, you realize you had a miracle, right? I was like, yes and I believe in God and miracles. So Praise be to His Holy Name, Glory be to God on High.

Urgent prayer request. It just came over the News Shooters just shot people at Ft Hood at two locations, the House Theater, and The Soldier Preaparation Center. There are 7 dead and 12 wounded. The shooters wore Army clothes. They may have caught one shooter but there is one or more who escaped. Families haven't been notified yet so pray for all. Just on,Belton Independent School District and Temple ISD are under lockdown as is Ft Hood. They may have one shooter hiding in a building with SWAT Team there. I have 2 Greatgrandchildren at two different schools in Belton Tx but they will let parents pick their children up as they get out of school. Oh God Help,a third shooter just shot people at the PX at Ft Hood.

darlene,I thank God,my condition actually has slowed me down and allowed me to grow closer to my maker.I was one of those workaholics, and i mean BIGTIME. I traveled the world trouble shooting reinforced cnocrete jobs for bethlehem steel yeqars ago.and though my repitation with work, and praise from men was evident,my relationship with the lord was never a thought, this started in 1982 and lasted until 1998 when I got sick,Now I began missionary work that my health only allowed sparingly, and now must stay at home.

Tom2,sorry to hear of your health problems. Weight loss is so hard even when one can exercise and it is often impossible if you can't exercise,I know from experience. You have a wonderful outlook and its obvious you are seeing your other blessings in life. I pray for God's help for you and his strength for the task. That's what I always pray when what I must do requires more than my physical condition can stand,I ask God "God please give me strength for the task" and he never fails to help me do what I must. I too praise God for all my blessings and never give up my hope to improve. God is bigger than anything which tries our physical endurance and everything which tries to pull us down emotionally or spiritually. One day at a time.

Here we are another year nearly over. For me its quick but I've heard it said many times the older one gets the faster time seems to go by. I have,at last, started writing, people have been telling me for years I should do it. I want to leave future generations a record of the answered prayer and even miracles I have received or someone else in the family has received. I think they will be glad for it and it may encourage belief in Jesus and perhaps even faith,to read what God has done for me through Jesus Name. When I start to put it all in book form I will make the Preface relate my love of God's Word the Bible and how important it is to read, study it and accept Jesus as Lord.
