"I think it's best if we don't try to speculate on something we've not been told!"
---alan8566_of_uk on 3/14/10

I agree that this is generally good council. But, we have been told that there are three heavens, and if they are (1) the earth's atmosphere, (2) the stars and (3) God's dwelling place, as I believe, then the burning up of our atmosphere at the same time our earth is cleansed with fire makes perfect, logical sense.
---jerry6593 on 3/15/10

Somewhere physical in this Universe?

What happens when thhe ehavens and the earth pass away?

What will happen to that "heaven" then?

I think it's best if we don't try to speculate on something we've not been told!
---alan8566_of_uk on 3/14/10

It is more real than Houston Texas.
But, knowing that Heaven is real, even if it wasn't, my life is much better now that it was before Christ took over. So my belief is far from a "waste of time." Too bad the sceptics can't realize this.
---Elder on 3/14/10

It better be or this blog, our faith and everything behind it is a waste of time.

We would then join atheist an accept that we are no different than a rock or a leaf, or worse fool ourselves into believing life has meaning from the fairy tale philosophy of "natural selection".
The two are incompatible.

There is not just one heaven but a third heaven.

char: "Dual dimension? I was asking you to explain if you saw heaven some how as being a dimension within this dimension?"

No. I don't understand "dual dimension" stuff. It sounds like science fiction to me. I see heaven as being a real, physical place within our visible universe. Most likely it is behind a nebula such as that in Orion, since:

Job 26:9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
---jerry6593 on 3/13/10

Jerry,
Dual dimension? I was asking you to explain if you saw heaven some how as being a dimension within this dimension?
If so,if you could explain,if not-then disregard my question.I could try using words such as IF it where then Maybe....etc...(this is still somewhat vague to me).
Thanks-looking forward to your reply-either way.
---char on 3/12/10

Jerry ... You're right, of course.

I did not put my thoughts properly.

I was referring to the physical geographical location of heaven, which is beyond our understanding.
---alan8566_of_uk on 3/9/10

Heaven is an actual place. It is the realm where God controls all things, even though He is Spirit and is everywhere. The two statments have to be taken together as fact. When the Bible speaks of God been in heaven, it is using the method called anthropomorphisms which simply means that His action as seen from the human view-point appears to be like that of a man.

"Dual dimension?"
---char on 3/8/10

Please explain in depth.
---jerry6593 on 3/9/10

Popular opinion equates the "New Jerusalem" with heaven, this is an error. This New Jersalem comes down from heaven from God, even more, the city is called the Bride, the Lamb's wife, why? Because she is its most prominent inhabitant [Revelation 21:2] You should study more on this "New Jerusalem", my friends.....The answer to your question is, YES.
---catherine on 3/8/10

//3.)Where God lives-with the Angels-His Throne,His temple and the New Jerusalem are there.//

Dual dimension?
---char on 3/8/10

Alan: "Heaven is something quite different from all the physical things we understand."

What makes you say that? The Bible says that we will walk there, see trees and a river, eat and drink with Jesus there, etc. Those sound like real, physical acts that we can understand.

Yes, and so is Earth an actual place, and so is Hell an actual place.
---Eloy on 3/7/10

Jerry ... I think you are right.

But I think the question was asking "Is heaven an actual place within the physical geography of the Universe?"

I other words would you be able to find it with a telescope or say by instant time travel?

I think the answer to that is "No"

Heaven is something quite different from all the physical things we understand.

---alan8566_of_uk on 3/7/10

The three heavens are: (1) Our atmosphere - where the birds fly, (2) Outer space - where the stars and other planets are, and (3) Where God lives - with the angels - His throne, His temple and the New Jerusalem are there.

Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

I don't think Jesus was lying when He said that.
---jerry6593 on 3/7/10

2Cor12:1---
(Whether in the body,I cannot tell or whether out of body,I cannot tell:God knoweth,)such an one caught up to the Third Heaven).

Stating...whether in the body or out of body...cannot tell:God knoweth.
The Third Heaven-
Three is the number of completion. We are not told this is a tangable place-at this time-only...(can not tell:God knoweth).

Three complete-Father-Son-Holy Spirit:One God.

Ditto on Tom2.

Paul, in a trance, made reference to a third heaven as a real place. Interestingly the third heaven is mentioned only once in all of scripture in 2nd Corinthians 2.
---larry on 2/25/10

Revelation drops another question into the mix...specifically, regarding the "New Jerusalem" coming down from Heaven. For that moment to occur on the Earth, the Earth and the delivered City must be within the same physical dimension. But this does not necessarily mean Heaven is within the SAME physical dimension that we occupy. The over-arching consistency shared by all spaces of place in God's Creation is the presence of the Spirit of God. And that appears to be interdimensional.
---ELAINE on 2/25/10

\\ "But the contexts clearly say that we're not supposed to localize God even to heaven."
---Cluny on 11/6/09

John 17:21: "That they all may be one, as thou, Father, art'> in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."
---Nana on 11/7/09\\

And you think this means that God is localized to one place?

As the Psalmist sang in 139/138LXX, "Where shall I flee from Your spirit? If I ascend into heaven, You are there. If I make my bed in hell, You are there...."
---Cluny on 12/21/09

Having Eloy's exchange with 1st Cliff, it strikes me that if Heaven is physically above each of us, it will be well spread out. And it would mean that while I would ascend up from my home in the UK, Warwick would ascend up from Australia. We would be going in opposite directions, and would never be able to meet.

I don't think this idea od Heaven being a mantle surrounding the earth can re right.

It would also mean that those who are lost would descend downwards, to Hell ... but the centre of the Earth is already full of material ... there would not be much space left for all the lost.

No, I don't think either Heaven or Hell have a physical geographical location relating to the earth
---alan8566_of_uk on 11/14/09

yep,and so is hell.

"does it really matter as long as we will be eternally with our savior?"

That Casey, is the Heaven of our existence at the moment we yield ourselves to the mental ascension that is in the embracing the fact that He is not only with us, He is within those of us who recognize and acknowledge His presence, and where He resides, is Heaven.
He has given the believer the awesome privilege of being, at this present time, seated spiritually with Him, on His throne, in that Heavenly place.
---Josef on 11/9/09

1st clif, Come on Cliff, up is the opposite of down, top is the opposite of bottom high is the opposite of low. The Lord God Jesus is the Most High God, high and lifted up. It would make no sense to say he is up lifted down, or the Most Low God, no, not by any means. Look up for your redemption draws nigh, it is not look down.
---Eloy on 11/8/09

"Is Heaven an actual place?"
If one considers the space immediately above us and/or outer-space a place, Yes.
Other than that, Heaven is a state, as in a state of mind and/or being that transcends the sensual.
Tangibly "God called the firmament (visible arch of the aerial which locks in our atmosphere.) Heaven." Which, as concerning this question, can include the limited portion of the vast expanse of the sidereal visible to us by whatever means available.
To call "Heaven" His abode, other than as a reference to His state of Being, is to limit Him to something that is contained within Him. Father inhabits eternity, and The heaven, and The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him. 2Ch 6:18 >Isa 57:15
---Josef on 11/8/09

Eloy, "Up" to us is "down" to those in Austrailia, and vice-versa....which way is "Up" Eloy???

Yes the so-called "third heaven" mentioned only once in scripture is where you will spend the afterlife.
It is the place of praise and worship and home for celestial beings.
---larry on 11/7/09

God's Spirit is omnipresent, in all places at all times, nevertheless his home is in Heaven localized "above", and hell is localized to "below". Elijah was carried up from off the earth to heaven, Jesus ascended physically up to heaven where he came down, when Christ returns the skys will be parted as a scroll, and the trumpet of God will sound, and every eye will look upon him whom they have pierced. Yes, although heaven is inside of us true Christians, the physical location is above, localized upwards over our head and over the earth.

Yes, Heaven is a real Place. It is sometimes referred to as the "Third Heaven". It is where GOD's Throne sits. It is where the Saints of GOD, who have passed on, dwell. That is the "New Jerusalem", the City of GOD and His holy Saints. Gates of Pearl, Streets of pure Gold, Structures like Jasper. Nothing sinful, evil, nor unholy is present there, nor ever will be. Only Peace, Love, Joy, Happiness, Rest, Music, Beauty, Water, Food, Relationships and more.

Isaiah 66:1, Acts 7:49

Yes, Heaven is an actual place. It's God's home.
---Donna on 11/5/09

It's an actual place, but I don't believe it can be located in this present physical universe.
---Cluny on 11/5/09

Absolutely!!!! And it is be too grand and wonderful for natural human lips to describe.
Here I have my Franklin and biblical dictionary and commentary with me as I try to drown myself in the word. In heaven all of this will be unnecessary, effort will be a thing of the past, instant accessibility to all knowledge will be ours, that we'll be something! I cry out praise the Lord many times a day here on earth but in heaven the praises of God will flow freely, continuously, and fervently!!!!!

Glory hallelujah to the name of the lamb.
