look into to parable of Ten wise virgins, (Hannukah)feast of dedication and the Jewish Messianic teachings on preparation for the endtimes. The history of this Jewish celebration relates to oil and the holy Spirit. One cannot be saved without the Holy Spirit in any time frame. John 10:22-23

---Steveng on 12/4/09 John 11:24-26 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

I think you are missing something just like Martha did she thought she knew when the resurrection would be and Jesus corrected her.
The ressurection is NOW because it is Jesus.

Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels, and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

Metuschelah: "When one become born-again, THAT is the first resurrection..,"

The first resurrection is when Jesus' second coming. This is when the dead in Chris shall rise and the living shall be caught up with them. This happens at the last trumpet blow at the end of the tribulation.

The second resurrection accurs at the end of the thousand year reign of chris on earth when all the other dead (that were not christians) rise from all of earth's history and be judged from the Book of Life according to their works.

blesses are they that rise at the first resurrection.

I agree with u, where do we differ, i feel like i'm not understanding your comment quite yet.
(rom6:4) "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life".(And also read col 2:12). When one become born-again, THAT is the first resurrection, it is the way we walk in newness of life.
THE RAPTURE OR CATHCHING UP IS ALSO A RESURECTION BUT IT IS NOT THE FIRST RESURECTION OF WHICH CHRIST TELLS US THAT WE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.
---Metuschelah on 12/4/09

metuschelah: "Then the earth will be destroyed."

Are you not forgeting what scriptures says about an New Heaven AND a New Earth. Those who are raise at the first resurrection will go to heaven. Those who are raised at the second resurrection will be judged from the Book of Life according to their works.

blesses are they that rise at the first resurrection.

Part1
We are in the tribulation period right now. It consist of 23 yrs and as of now we have just less than 1 and a half left until christ returns. As long as the eternal church of god is not Raptured/caught up then the H.G. will still be on the earth. The only time that the H.G. will be removed from the earth will be on the day that jesus returns to rapture/catch up his eternal church because that is where the H.G. resides, in his true believers. Then the earth will be destroyed.

Part2
(John 14:16)"But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you". (John 16:7) "Nevertheless I tell you the truth, It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you, but if I depart, I will send him unto you". )"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever,". So When christ come the H.G. will be removed from this earth because we will be removed from the earth as we are raptured on may 21, 2011.

"Since Christians will be here for the tribulation, He will be here still dwelling in our earthly vessel" this statement is correct if there is no rapture.

But these verses from John 14 2-3
2-In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3-And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also." Convince me that there is a rapture and I dare not denying the word of God.

Also to live through the rapture one must take the mark of the beast, and the mark of the beast dooms all who take it to hell! This church cannot do.

\\The KJV and NASB definitely agree that the restrainer is not a what but a whom. \\
'
And was the KJV or NASB or any other English translation available by the 4th century?

My point is that this dispensationalist view claiming it's the church that restrains the appearance of Antichrist is a docrinal novelty not heard of until 1830 or so.
---Cluny on 12/2/09

All of mankind is in God's plan together. We are to endure until the end.
---Steveng on 12/1/09

You might find it interesting to know just what 4th Century and early Christian writers said the restrainer is.
---Cluny on 12/1/09

You should say WHO the restrainer is.

The KJV and NASB definitely agree that the restrainer is not a what but a whom.

There are various opinions who the restrainer is from the Roman Empire, to the Jewish State, to Satan, to the Church, and to Michael the angel.

Only one person really fits the context of the passage. Only one person fits the explanation of the passage, that the retraining effort is "spiritual" and not physical. Only one person can be described using both neuter and maculine genders.

That one person is the Holy Spirit.
---Mark_Eaton on 12/1/09

I agree 100% with Cluny.

We, the redeemed of the Lord, are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He dwells in us and tabernacles with us.

Since Christians will be here for the tribulation, He will be here still dwelling in our earthly vessel.

Way to go Cluny. Your one of the few who believe like I do.

You're wrong again, mima.

You are simply READING a pre-trib rapture into this passage.

You might find it interesting to know just what 4th Century and early Christian writers said the restrainer is.

"Will the "Holy Ghost remain on earth during the tribulation period?" Yes.
"... no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.">1Cr 12:3
If He were not here, no one could or would be saved during that period.
Jesus informed His disciples that "when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near".>Luk 21:28
"[To wit], the redemption of our body.>Rom 8:23
Therefore, "grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption".>Eph 4:3
That day happens "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: The [trump of God]"> 1Cr 15:52>1Th 4:16

Second Thessalonians 2:7 says,

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he(Holy Spirit) who now letteth will let, until he(Holy Spirit) be taken out of the way. "

This speaks of the church being taken out in the rapture and with the church of course goes the Holy Spirit.

Once the Holy Spirit has been taken out of the world people will still have a chance to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ but the word of their testimony will cost them their heads!!!
---mima on 11/30/09

Since the Church is the earthly abiding place of the Holy Spirit, and the Church remains here during the tribulation, it stands to reason that the Holy Spirit will likewise remain on earth.
