John 14/6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ...
GOD Bless
---volvin on 1/8/10

Jim, Tell me Jim, Will you obey what Jesus commanded, to Do his works: or will remain far from the kingdom and defraud yourself to think that you are saved by disobeying Jesus? "Faith without works is dead: for only doers are saved." The soul that does nothing, is a condemned, and receives nothing: the soul that does something, receives something: the soul that does much, receives much.
---Eloy on 1/9/10

Jim, you are unsaved if you have done nothing commanded by Christ. For he has commanded you to repent and to Do his will. There is not one place in his entire kingdom where my God has told any soul to do nothing at all, which is disobedience to his command, and as a result of this fruitlessness he will save that soul: By no means, for on the contrary he promises that the disobedient and fruitless branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and salt that has no saltness is completely worthless to him, and is thrown out and trodden under foot of men.
---Eloy on 1/9/10

//Here is the answer to the question you asked me. Do the WHOLE will of God not half, Jim.

The usual answer is that faith alone is sufficient however, a faith that is alive and not dead will be evidenced by works.

You really do not want to be like some of the Galatians St Paul was upset with when the Judaizers were trying to tell them that works of the law (torah) were also necessary for ones salvation.

Gal.3:2-3 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
---Lee1538 on 1/8/10

James 2:17-19 (King James Version)

17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19Thou believest that there is one God, thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Here is the answer to the question you asked me. Do the WHOLE will of God not half, Jim.

Ruben-here in these verses you can see the work (will) of the father.

29-Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."
---mima on 1/7/10

Mima, in Luke 18 verse 18 a ruler ask Jesus "what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Did Jesus tell him just believe on him who he sent! After telling him about the commandments and the ruler said he has keep them Jesus tell him "Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me(V 22) Not only do you need to believe you also need works,,,

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance!

For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all!

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
Good Luck!

Miche...i will ask you the same thing i asked Eloy:
For Salvation(Eternal Life)do you rely by Faith on our Savior Jesus Christ alone or do you need to add to what He has done for you?
---JIM on 1/8/10

Jim, repent means to admit you are wrong and turn from something that you are doing wrong.
To turn from mean to stop doing something.
You can't have one without the other. You must repent(turn from sin!) AND Believe Christ.
Even the Devil himself believes Christ is who he is and trembles at Christ's name but that doesn't mean the devil is saved now does it? Obviously not since he is still our adversary.
You keep pushing the "All you have to do is believe" but not telling people they have to stop living contrary to God is just false and not what Jesus taught. Those who are Christ's pick up their cross, bear it and FOLLOW Christ's example in ACTION not just lip service.
Believing AND repenting must be done.

Miche...you said:And Jesus is not telling them to change their minds about the Good news. That is telling them to believe!
The repent part is telling them to repent of their sin
Miche... We are all sinners. Repent means to change your mind. He was talking to unbelievers. He was telling unbelievers to change their mind on what they believed and believe the good news.He was talking about Himself. The good news is Jesus. It is all about Him.
---JIM on 1/8/10

I apologize Jim, It was the adulteress that he told that to.
The point is we are talking about sinners and Jesus clearly says for all who wish to be saved we must repent of our sins and believe he is the son of God.
Why you deny that we have to do both is beyond me.
Did he tell the adulteress to just believe in him? No, he told her to go and sin no more.
And Jesus is not telling them to change their minds about the Good news. That is telling them to believe!
The repent part is telling them to repent of their sin.
How can you get that so twisted?
Do you think it is okay to sin all you want and be saved? The Holy Spirit will not live in a house that sins!
---miche3754 on 1/8/10

Eloy...Let me ask you this.
For Salvation(Eternal Life)do you rely by Faith on our Savior Jesus Christ alone or do you need to add to what He has done for you?
---JIM on 1/8/10

Eloy...you evidently don't understand the gift God gave us, that through Faith(to believe)and nothing else we inherit eternal life.
---JIM on 1/8/10

Jim, your disagreeing with the truth does not change the truth that there is zero forgiveness given to anyone whom refuses to repent, nor does your disagreeing not change the truth that there is a lake of fire and brimstone prepared for all whom refuse to repent. Multitudes go down to the grave with their disgreements to the truth, after which these multitudes are scarcely given another chance to agree.

It breeds fear and confusion. And how no son of mine will live in any kind of bondage.

Miche..in Mark Jesus is talking to unbelivers. Jesus is proclaiming the good news of God to unbelievers. He is trying to get them to repent(Change their mind about the good news)because they don't believe it.

The only sin that cannot be forgiven is the one we refuse to repent of. Unbelief leads to disobdience.

Any sin committed can be forgiven.
---Samuel on 1/8/10

Samuel,I've been a Christian for over 30 years. As the Lord continues to conform me to His Image and reveal His Holiness in and to me, I find everyday new sins I never knew were sin.

What is so wonderful though is that is the sanctification process and KNOWING those sins are forgiven and God is actually tearing down the old and building the New is the greatest JOY in my life!

This process will go on until I die, and if there comes a time no sin is revealed....then I must be out of God's will. We're not perfectly sinless here, we're being CONFORMED here!

Jim,
If all we had to do was believe, why did Jesus say this then?

Mark 1:15

Eloy..i disagree..Repentance is not a requirement to inherit eternal life. If it was don't you think John would of mentioned that in his gospel.Throughout Johns gospel and his 3 letters John never once mentions the word REPENT. Repentance is not mentioned. What is mentioned is BELIEVE(FAITH).

When Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well everything she ever did, she went back to her town and told the people. The people came to Jesus, and Jesus stayed with them a couple days. Because of Jesus' words many BELIEVED. They heard Jesus for themselves and now know that He is the Savior of the World.

We must do BOTH. Believe AND repent, faith AND works of faith.
It is not one or the other.

If you do works with no faith its false salvation.

Jesus Christ put sin away so mankind could come before a holy God in faith.
Repenting of sin, (if you could) will never get you life, its the resurrected life of Christ that we receive, by grace through faith.... We must be born again.

WHY? because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Here John 3 is explained...

Acts 4:12

12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. JESUS CHRIST!

Acts 16:30-32

30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

The Seg, here I goes,
The Bible simply puts it this way, All men born in Adam are born with a sin nature, and because they bear a sin nature, they are all damed to hell. As all men go to hell, God in His marvelous grace, saves some. The rest are damned, but not simply because of the sin in Adam-primarily because of the sin of unbelief. John 3:17,18, starts with, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, (the world is already condemned) but that the world through Him might be saved. (here is how) He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Begotten Son of God"

The Seg, because I believe Christ died for the sin of the WHOLE WORLD and people CAN know and believe God's word that He sent Jesus to forgive sin,( free will) actually MarkV here is correct. Unbelief in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross is the only sin that will send someone to hell.

Now scripture also says:

Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness,

We know by this statement, there is no such thing as total depravity!

MarkV
I love everything you said, up until hell is unbelief.

Rom 3:3 For what if some did not believe?
shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar,
as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

but every man a liar, who is this talking too.
Is it not you and me?

Rosalie, you gave some good points not only concerning David but concerning Paul. With David God permitted him to continue for almost a year. Finally God send a conviction to David through Nathan's parable to David. After hearing the parable David was mad against the man mentioned in the parable and said to Nathan, "As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die and he shall restore fourfold for the Lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity"
David didn't realize the man in the parable was him when Nathan said, "..You are the man Thus says the Lord of of Israel.."
When we sin as believers God brings conviction to our hearts because we are in Christ.

But I'll bet you are not free of anger, laziness, judgmentalism, bitterness, jealousy, lack of total generosity. I know I'm not. Those are still sins, and since I do sin in those ways, I am still a sinner, although I will not receive the rewards of being a sinner, but rather those of being a saint.

I'm (will be judged) a saint, not because I avoid sinning, but by Jesus' sacrifice to save me from the condemnation
---alan8566_of_uk on 1/7/10

Jesus said himself we can be angry and still not sin, Alan. The thought is not the sin, it is the action combined with the thought that becomes sin.
How can you be judged a saint but not be one?
---miche3754 on 1/7/10

Rosalie, when we are saved it is Christ that does the action and gets the glory for the action. And David had to repent for what he had done, didn't he?
What do think would have happened if he didn't repent for his sin of adultery?
Do you think he would have still been favored by God?
Look at Saul, he was a favorite but because he sinned against God and didn't repent, God allowed Saul to be given over to a reprobate mind and God had forsaken him.
That is what will happen to us if we don't repent and stop sinning against God.
Being in Christ doesn't give us a license to sin period.
As long as we repent of sins committed, we will be saved.

Salvation is a matter of Election of Grace. We are all sinners, even our best actions just like dirty rugs.

Examine Davids like. He commits adultery with
Bathseba and killed Uriah. He paid the consequences. Does his Salvation or Election affected? NO. no..

Examine Paul's life. A murderer, a pharisee,
Yet he was humbled when he was saved. Nothing is impossible with God...for those whom he chosen. God is no respecter of person.
---rosalie on 1/7/10

Mima is correct and Shawn T, explained it very well with, the difference between works of faith, and works of the Law. What Mima was pointing out about murder and lust, is the sin of the heart. Remember Jack B saying he hated me, Steven G reminded him that he was commiting murder. He had killed me. Many of us think bad thoughts, get angry, lust after something or someone, envey, jealousy, that is still sin. No one can get rid of that. God would want us to stop right there and not do the act. Because all sin has consequences. But know for sure that the flesh has not been redeemed yet. That is not an excuse for sin, God forbid, but the only sin that sends a person to hell is unbelief.
---MarkV. on 1/7/10

Sister, Who made the statement "If I say I am saved but do not produce the works of faith, then how am I saved" ?

You know we're Saved not by producing Works of Faith but by the Grace of God through Faith in the Finished Work of Christ : lest any man should boast !!!

Miche, We're Justified by Works of Faith and their manifestation enables us to present & share something tangible with the world as a testimony of God's Word in our Life as we spread the Gospel : seeing how Faith is the substance of things Hoped for, evidence of things other are spiritually unable to see.

To Whosoever Has An Ear To Hear?

Brethren, A Saint has received the cleansing Blood of Jesus Christ and wouldn't claim afterward to have never committed another sin b/c when we do we only deceive ourselves and this Truth is not in us : that when our repenting Heart confesses our sins, the Blood of Christ is Faithful & Just to Forgive us, in order to keep us cleansed from all unrighteousness.

Sinners deny their sins. Saints being 'Dead to sin' confuse them, and vigilantly endeavor to obey God's Word, striving to be perfect as He is Perfect but b/c of the flesh we all fall short of God's Glory and are kept unto Salvation by the Grace of the Finished Works of Christ : lest any man should boast of being made Perfect by the flesh !!!

Mima, If I say I am saved but do not produce the works of the faith, then how am I saved?
I am not.
Works is done by Christ through us. None who are saved do works on their own. Jesus says if he is in us and we in him we will be conformed to HIM. To be conformed means people will know who we belong to just by how we speak and act. They will know that Christ is in us.
We cannot claim to be saved if we are not producing the fruits of salvation. Which is Christ doing good works through us.
If it were not for Christ, I would still be sowing to my flesh and in sin. Now, I don't have to obey my flesh. I can and DO choose to obey God because of Christ in me the hope of Glory.

Mima,
You bare false witness.
Christ has forgiven me and he certainly has strength to make sure I don't commit the same sins over again because ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD. I trust him to give me a way out when temptation comes. I trust God to keep me safe in his arms and prevent me from sinning against HIM. I trust God that IF I do sin, he will forgive me. But as of right at this moment, I haven't sinned. I haven't lied, I haven't stolen, I haven't bore false witness, I haven't fornicated or even thought about it, I certainly don't have any other God before GOD and I have never murdered.

Brethren, Christ has Forgiven the trespasses of all manner of sin & blasphemy that is without the body/spiritual body ... but the 'Blasphemy' against the Holy Ghost which is to remain in the sin of being separate from the Lord, cannot receive the Lord's Forgiven b/c to receive Forgiven ones temple/the spirit must be of the Lord. 1Cor.6:18-20, Matt.12:31

Being quickened together with Christ makes clean the ordinances of handwriting that was against us : taking it out of the way & nailing it to His Cross. Col.2:12-14

Miche we are not saved by what we do. We are saved by what he( The Lord Jesus Christ) has done for us. We receive for ourselves this offered salvation when we asked him to save us. Romans 10:13" For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Miche NO,it is not okay for you to sin if you are saved. But the fact is your sins are forgiven. Past present and future, now I am sure you do not believe this, but be that as it may, it is the truth.
"The Beatitudes" Matthew chapter 5
Being an adult I accuse you of being guilty of breaking following teachings from Jesus.

27"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:"

28"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman(man) to lust after her(him) hath committed adultery with her(him) already in his(her) heart"

8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Duane, Mima:

Have you forgotten:

Rom 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord".

Sin does send you to hell. Sin separates you from a holy God and sin demands a payment of death.

But the good news is that the sin debt has been paid and we are no longer separated from God by the gift of Jesus substitutionary death on the cross. That is, if we accept it and repent of our sins.

But if you do not accept the free gift, the payment of death is still required.
---Mark_Eaton on 1/6/10

Mima, is it fair to say that you think it is okay to sin even though you claim to be saved?
Paul says "Shall we sin because we are under the blood? HEAVEN FORBID!"
Being in Christ doesn't give you a license to sin.
If you are in Christ and growing in his knowledge, you should not be doing any willfull sinning at all. we that are saved should not be lying, cheating, stealing, killing, adultry, fornication. Example, Im a single woman and no its not alright for me to go commit fornication just because Im saved. To prevent that, Im looking for a husband until then Im celebate.
my answer- Christ keeps me from fulfilling the lusts of the flesh, and keeps me obedient to God.

Also, mima, how is everyone saved?
Explain that one to me please.

And Markv, I do believe for once we actually agree!
---miche3754 on 1/6/10

---miche3754 everyone is saved. The reason we know this is because we know that Christ has already paid the price for everyone's sin.

When a person agcepts Jesus Christ today he does not have to return to the cross and pay for that person's sins having already paid for them once for all.

Please enlighten me as to where the Bible says "unrepentant sin will send you to hell"
all shall repent and does not mean turning from sin, repenting means changing of your mind, for example changing your mind about the Lord Jesus Christ.

Your salvation depends upon your behavior is that a fair statement of your belief?
---mima on 1/6/10

Mima, I support you view very much. I also support Miche's view against what Duane said, but not against what you said. Against Duane, Jesus Christ did not pay for the sins of the whole world. If He had then all those who are lost would be going to heaven since they would be forgiven. Debt paid. But they are going to hell because of unbelief. Their sin against God has not been paid with the blood of Christ. They have to exercise faith in the Lord and His works on the Cross for their sins to be forgiven. All others still owe a debt. If Jesus paid for the sins of the whole world, then God would not be able to judge them wrong at the Great White Throne of Judgment. If He still found them guilty, it would be double Jeopardy.
---MarkV. on 1/6/10

UMMM, Duane, did you not read my post?
I said "Christ said repent and believe".
I hope that is enough for you.

How can Christ bear the sins of those who refuse to repent and believe he did?
YES, he died for all sin of the world.
BUT you can't receive this blessing or salvation unless you repent(turn from your sin) AND believe Christ has done all he says he does for us. I happen to be one of these people who believe Christ.
I told Mima that his post basically means since Christ died for all sin, then eveyone one is saved because Mima says sin can't send you to hell.
I say and the Bible says- UNREPENTED SIN SENDS YOU TO HELL! if the sin is unrepented then you haven't turned(stopped doing it) from it.

Miche,
Repent means turning around/change.There is no turning from sin unless you turn to Christ. Now tell me what Christ did for you. Ill tell you what HE did for you, HE died for you and set you free from sin. HE now bears the sin of you and all people. Dont ever think you can overcome sin, overcoming sin is believing in the cross of Christ. By grace through faith.
Lets start defending the work of the Cross.

Why was the law added, because of transgressions! But John said behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world. Well then, sin cannot have dominion over you. You are not under law, but under grace! All of us! But you bite and devour each another, and try to consume one another. Maybe you dont see this.

So why call him Lord and do not what he says? Lord told you clearly, no man can come to me unless the Father call or draw him. So try to forgive one another everything, because you do have things against each other. Namely the sins you put on one another.
So your Father in heaven can forgive you your trespasses against his word!

Sin is disobedience to God, Mima, that is how sin sends us to hell. You an't have one foot in Christ and the other in sin and being in Christ doesn't give you a license to sin.
Again, where does Jesus say that you can sin and still go to heaven?
From what I have read, Jesus says clearly that if you sin, you are not of him.
Mima, You are NOT teaching the Gospel. You are teaching easy breezy salvation that is false.
Sin itself is covered by Christ but your personal sin is not until you repent of it.Christ clearly said REPENT AND BELIEVE. Repent means to turn from.

when christ died for our sins at calvary, every one of our sins were future. the only sin that keeps you from being saved is the sin of UNBELIEF
---michael_e on 1/5/10

---miche3754 my answer to you would be,HOW MANY SINS DID JESUS PAID FOR ON THE CROSS?

IF Jesus has already pay for our sins will God his father demand another payment from us? It isn't possible for us to pay for our own sins. And for that reason Jesus came and paid for us. Again I ask you if Jesus paid for our sins, how then can sin cause us to go to hell?
---mima on 1/5/10

Mima, Where in the Bible does it say that sin doesn't send you to hell?
You can't claim you are a Christian and just keep right on sinning. That is not what Christ teaches and that is not Gospel.
---miche3754 on 1/5/10

It is not sin that sents a person to hell!!

In fact sin cannot sent you to hell!!!!

Why not? Because Jesus pad for all sin on the cross of Calvary!!!

What sents a person to hell is their failure to accept and receive what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for them!!!

Lloyd, God forgives anyone who comes to Him with a contrite heart and true repentance. 2 Tim. 2:25,26 "... God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will"
Paul killed many Christians until God changed his heart. People God chose through history killed or committed terrible sins. Yet God used them for His ministry and saved them. People can also kill with their hearts. Many on death row who genuinely commit their lives to Christ are forgiven. "For by grace we are saved through faith, and this is not of ourselves, it is a gift of God -not because of works, lest any man should boast."
---MarkV. on 1/2/10

P.S. to previous post. LLOYD "There is a sin unto death:" 1Jo 5:16

"He that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:" Mark 3:29

"He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" Repent daily. There are sins that you know that you do, maybe even some that your not sure of. Still you must take it to God, ask Him to help you to know the sins that transgress against Him, (satan) the god of this world & his worldly pleasures etc. To help keep your self clean in the proccess in being & staying saved. You'l your Truly saved when the those gates of pearl click behind you.

"Can a person be saved no matter what sin they have committed?" Yes.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" For "the scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe."

Refs. Rom 3:23>Rom 3:10>Gal.3:22

jesus said that there is only one unpardonable sin, blaspheming the holy spirit.
---tom2 on 1/2/10

Absolutely yes, Lloyd.

According to the Bible, when we break one of Gods commandments we are guilty of breaking them all.

We are all equally guilty before God, so don't believe the lie that one specific sin is less forgivable than another.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
