Belivers are not instructed in the N. Testament to assault demons or Satan but to assault error with the Truth. That is our battle (John 17:17, Heb. 4:12). The formidable spiritual strongholds manned by the forces of hell can be demolished only by the Spiritual weapons wielded by godly believers- singularly the "Sword of the Spirit". Example, Jude 9 you see that rather then personally cursing such a powerful angel as Satan, Michael deferred to the ultimate, sovereign power of God following the example of the Angel of the Lord in Zech. 3:2 This is the supreme illustration of how Christians are to deal with Satan and demons. "Believers are not to address them, but rather to seek the Lord's intervening power against them."
---MarkV. on 1/27/10

Huh, and of course pigs can fly Donna? You, dear lady, have take Scripture totally out of context to support your erroneous opinions of what a demon is. Bitterness, unforgiveness, etc., aren't demons. They are characteristics of a person's sin nature. (Eph. 4:31-32) Where did you get such spurious ideas (doctrinal deceptions -- 1 Tim. 4:1)?
---Leon on 1/27/10

Hebrews 12:15 mentions a root of bitterness.

When you study the term "root of bitterness" you find that bitterness takes root in a person who hasn't forgiven people who have hurt them.

Matthew 13:21: Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, etc.,

Romans 11:16 - For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is the root of all evil:

2 Corinthians 10:4 - (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. This is the correct term for a demon that rules in a person's life.
---Donna on 1/27/10

MarkV: I agree totally. Glad to be of service bro!
---Leon on 1/27/10

Leon, thank you for your answer. It just seems that believers in this age have invented so many names and things never heard of in Scripture. Demon of anger, darkness, hunger, of eating to much, lying, cheating, racist, and so on. When many times it is no demon of anything, just their own actions causing everything, and turn around and blame a demon. And what I see is people not taking responsibility for their actions and blaming the woman like Adam did and she in turn blamed the serpent. I just never heard of a "root demon" and was the reason I ask. Thanks bro. blessings
---MarkV. on 1/26/10

MarkV: Frankly, I've never heard the term "root demon" as used & explained by the Mod. However, in the Bible such a "fallen angel" is called a principality (a prince, principal, chief/head/lead, an arch demon). See Dan. 10:12-14, Ro. 8:38, Eph. 6:12.
---Leon on 1/26/10

A word of caution to those of you desiring to cast out demons: Doing so is not like being a movieland Ghost Buster. Please read Matthew 17:14-21 & Acts 19:13-16.
---Leon on 1/26/10

Mark sorry for the semantics. Just a root Demon IE main demon. The love money, pride, sexual sins are root problems that tend to have other associated flesh issues or demons associated with them.
---Moderator on 1/26/10

Moderator, a root demon in charge of other demons you say, can you give Scripture to what you stated?
---MarkV. on 1/26/10

Moderator, thank you,I undestand what you are talking about now. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 1/25/10

A root demon would be the main demon that is in charge of other demons and helps them to thrive. IE Bitterness brings with it the demon of murder, anger, rage, etc.
---Moderator on 1/25/10

Moderator and Donna what do you mean by root demon? Is it in the Bible? Where please? I have never heard that expressed before,to me a demon is a demon and since we have been given power over all the power of the enemy,do we not have power over all of them? I thought bitterness and rejection are emotional problems which have grown out of life experiences. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 1/24/10

i have a friend (demon afflicted for over 15 years) that needed help. i decided to do research and take on the task. just when i felt that i was ready, the Holy Spirit directed me to another friend who wanted help and during a 2 hr. session i became the instrument of God that helped save a lost soul. that event is the highest and most intense moment(s) in my 55 yrs. on this planet. my spiritual life has deepened markedly since then and i am so greatful to be called upon. God is great all the time and i am blessed .

"This person is supposedly saved.", Mod, 1/19

If the person were saved, the fruit of the spirit would've started showing evidence soon after he/she was born again. I believe Christians can be externally manipulated & intimidated by way of demons repressing, depressing, oppressing & harrassing us. But, a Christian can NEVER BE INTERNALLY DEMON POSSESSED (controlled/dominated).

There's no man-made, magic formula that applies to the situation of casting out demons. We Christians must not just read but meditate upon/internalize the Word of God (the Bible). We must pray in accordance to the Word, fast in accordance to the Word & most importantly TRULY BELIEVE THE WORD! (Matt. 17:14-21)
---Leon on 1/23/10

stringaxe, never said that, what I was saying was a cynical appraisal of my 2 x wives, and their attitudes about marriage.sorta like a funny,ha ha,not that being demon possessed is funny, but years later crazy wives who profess being born again christians who actually believe its fine to have a husband, and several if not more boyfriends to me are possessed,by the world, and we all know worldly attitudes dont come from God.
---tom2 on 1/22/10

Just because someone isn't born again, that doesn't necessarily mean they are demon-possessed. If you look at the examples in the New Testament, the number of people preached to is quite large, while the number of demons cast out is quite small.

Hi Donna, Rejection and Bitterness are two root demons. I can't in the presence of the person attempt to cast the demons out because it would be inappropriate. Have you cast a demon out at a distance?
---Moderator on 1/21/10

Moderator-you cannot cast a demon of rejetion nor a root of bitterness out of a person either in front of them or from a distance and here's why. Unforgiveness is the ROOT demon and unless they willingly repent FIRST, the demon won't come out.
You can however BIND the demon from a distance. In the name of Jesus, I bind you foul spirit of rejection and bitterness so that you cannot operate in so and so, name the person's name. Binding must be done DAILY. Hope that helps.
---Donna on 1/22/10

well I casted out 2 x wives, and from the way they talked and lived I ,d swear they were possessed.had to be ,anyone who says they are born again just would never say that they want a husband, and a boyfriend.
---tom2 on 1/22/10

I don't recall any of the examples in the Bible occurring with the person's permission or request either. In some cases (like the woman with the spirit of divination) it was objected to quite strongly.
---StrongAxe on 1/21/10

StrongAxe, the situation is inappropriate because the person isn't asking for deliverance, however a deliverance needs to take place. I know that must sound confusing, but I am not at liberty to go into detail. Which begs the question - can a deliverance happen at a distance IE without the person being directly involved? Once there is a deliverance, I am sure the person would be approachable. However, with the demons in control, the laying on of hands or praying in the presence of the person would just inflame the situation.

The demon went.I usually prayed with one or two others and sometimes it was a minister. One man a forgein man from India vomited.Luckily we had a trash can handy. One woman did roll over and over on the floor.Demons have to go in the name of Jesus when a Spirit filled person prays.Afterword one needs to pray for that persons salvation. They usually do so right after deliverence.
---shirley on 1/21/10

Why is casting a demon out in someone's presence "inappropriate"? In every Biblical exorcism, the one casting the demon out is in the presence of the person out of whom it is being cast, and never questions whether such an action is appropriate. On the other hand, I can't recall a single instance where one is cast out "at a distance".

Granted, Jesus sometimes asked demons where they wanted to go, but we aren't told what would have happened if they would have been less cooperative. However, based on other incidents, I'm sure he would have cast them out anyway.

We must decide which is more important - American "personal space" sensibilities, or the power of our authority in Christ.

Moderator on 1/19/10..what do you do in a situation where the demons stop you from getting close enough to the person to receive their permission to cast out the demons?
Moderator,I got set free from a spirit of rejection and other demons. I have casted a demon out of an alcoholic person.

Ask the demon, what is your name? If he won't identify himself like he did with Jesus, "legion, etc.," then ask him what the stronghold demon in there is. Please read the book, Pigs in the Parlor and it will explain all of this. Ask the demons, who's in there with you? Find out what the stronghold is, it sounds like you're dealing with a spirit of rejection and they have many other demons infested inside a person with them.

It is impossible to prove indisputably to others that someone is saved and filled with the Spirit (since the devil can do miracles to deceive even the very elect, if that were possible), and much less so in a text-only environment such as this, especially with a 125-word limit.

However, it is very easy to prove something from scriptures - just provide book, chapter, and verse, and anyone can independently look them up and verify that what you say is true.
---StrongAxe on 1/21/10

Stop it!

Rom 3:7 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory, why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

1Co 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
1Co 4:8 Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
---TheSeg on 1/21/10

Exzucuh, I know I have the promise of salvation because the Holy Spirit witnessess to my spirit that I am a child of God. Also, I know I am saved because I have a true love for Christ. No one lost has a love for Christ.
"Now, you go ahead an prove those people were saved."
---MarkV. on 1/21/10

Jesus gave his disciples authority to cast out demons so that those who witnessed the event would believe in Him and add new believers to the church. A missionary in Africa told me he cast a demon out of a dog in one of the villages and many of those who witnessed it became believers. I use to attend a charismatic church where they associated drug, alcohol, sexual, etc.. addictions as individual demons and would try to cast them out by the laying on of hands and prayer. I never witnessed anything to prove they were possessed. I heard others say they cast out demons. It was also believed that demons existed only in non-believers and couldn't dwell in a Spirit filled Christian. Needless to say there was a lot of confusion.

Markv prove you are saved and have the Spirit of God and I will prove that they were.
---exzucuh on 1/21/10

Exzucuh, you gave no Scripture to indicate that the people Jesus was addressing were born of the Spirit. Not one ioda. I wrote what the passage said and I couldn't find what you said in that passage. Now you might want that passage to say what you want it to say, not what God wanted to say. There is a difference there. You make it mean what you want it to mean. Very good tactic by those who work hard to disprove the Word of Truth.
---MarkV. on 1/21/10

Some have seen and not believe.
Some have seen and not understood.

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Fear not

Cluny, that is the 64 thousand dollar question. Some would say Christians can't be demon oppressed while others would say they can. One thing most Christians would believe is that a Christian can't be demon possessed.

\\My best guess is that some of these demons came in during childhood and others during adulthood. The person got saved as a young adult, but obviously these demons are still there. It is one of those issues of can a Christian still have demons operate in their life.

---Moderator on 1/20/10

Moderator,I reread your first post to Mima and see the person thinks they are saved. This is just a bit of information you probably already know, the Spirit of God,Jesus,Holy Ghost will not inhabit an unclean temple and anyone demon possessed is an unclean temple. I would think the person needs to renounce all works of darkness they may have unknowingly been involved with,in Jesus Name, such as,horoscopes, fortune tellers,astrology-divinition of influnce of stars and planets on human affairs, etc. which brought the demons to them, then ask God to forgive them of their sins. If they don't demons can move back in,maybe not those but others. God be with you.

Exzucuh, you misinterpret the Passage in Matthew 12:43,44, as you have others. This is not a sign of someone who brags he is following the Spirit or the Spirit must be leading you wrong. which is it? could this spirit be leading you wrong?
You said before that when a born again loses the uclean spirit of the world, and he backslides, Jesus said the unclean spirit will return to that empty house. But Matthew never once says that these people were born again. No where does it state they were genuine believers. In fact when someone is born again of the Spirit, only the Spirit lives in him. And the Spirit never leaves them or forsakes them. It will convict them of sin, but at no time can an evil spirit take residence where the Spirit is at.

"that in the precious Name of Jesus Christ these demons would never come back"

Here is a wonderful opportunity to praise the name of Jesus, by praising the name of Jesus we have brought Almighty God into the situation.(God says he inhabits the praises of his people)

The blood of Jesus Christ is on the mercy seat in heaven there to be used by us and we use it by, meditation, considering, and praising the father for the Son's sacrifice.
No demon can withstand or stay where the blood of the lamb is being honored.
---mima on 1/20/10

Mima, in the past few days I did exactly what you said as it was the only thing left to try that I knew of. I have noticed a huge change in the person. However, I can't tell if these demons are messing with me. IE making me think that they are gone when they are not gone so that they will be left alone. Something inside of me is telling me that they are just staying quiet for the time being as this has been a longterm spiritual battle.

Yes, Darlene and everyone on this blog, please pray that God would give me the Gift of Discernment in this situation and that in the precious Name of Jesus Christ these demons would never come back.

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

It is very plain that you that war with me over the scripture do not have the form of doctrine that can deliver you, so you live in sin and cannot be healed. And fulfill the prophecy: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed,
---exzucuh on 1/20/10

Moderator-these demons are using distance and evasion to avoid you. Proving they are scared to death of you. However neither distance nor evasion rule in the spiritual world. Since you know where they are and that they hear you you have the tools to cast them out regardless of distance and they're hiding.
Since you have this knowledge it might prove highly effective to be more "targeted" in your commanding. Such as, to the group of demons that are in Bob Joe, I command you to get out in the name the Jesus and go to a dry dusty land and never returned to Bob Joe. Your success will be signaled by the change in behavior of Bob Joe. When you pray consider bringing the power of the blood of Lord Jesus Christ against the demons.

There are people like Judas who are the Sons of perdition. Jesus did not cast Satan from Judas because Judas belonged to Satan. He willed himself to Satan rather than submit to the Son of God. These are people who become powerful like those in the days before the flood. They are Antichrist they have no Spirit of God in their Flesh they are completely ruled by the beast/Carnality. They live to serve the lust of their flesh. Their religion is a religion of fig leaves. It is a covering
that hides their sin. They are chameleons that are camouflaged with Doctrines that make them blend in to Christianity.

Matthew 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out, and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

There are only two seeds The woman's seed which is actually God's seed because woman has no seed who is Jesus the Son of God and Satan's
Seed who is actually Adams seed corrupted by sin in collaboration with submission to Satan Causes all men to have the corrupt unclean spirit of the world that can only be saved by the new birth/regeneration. That which is born of Spirit is Spirit. The old Adam unclean spirit is driven out and a new born second Adam spirit replaces it. If that same spirit that was in Jesus is in you it will give life to your mortal body.

Yes, I am sure that they are demons because the demons have talked through the person to me and at me. However, I agree in most situations it is the flesh in operation and the Believer needs to learn how to walk in the Fruits of the Spirit.

Moderator, are you sure they are demons or are they bad character traits of the person ? We have power over all the power of the enemy but we can't remove the bad behavior of a person, they must repent of their sins. Try the spirits and ask God to show you exactly what is in operation, spirits or the person. The reason I suggest this is because I had an experience which taught me a good lesson. A woman was telling lies on some of my family and I rebuked her in Jesus Name, she looked at me and said "you know what it is don't you". Yes it was the evil in the woman and the Devil using her own nature to strike out at me. No demons. Command the demons,if they are,to let you near and be quite, still, and not interfere in Jesus Name.
---Darlene_1 on 1/19/10

Those people are flesh demons they are the Children of the Devil. Religious reprobates.

John 8:42-44 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God, neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Yes I have cast out demons. And the most astounding success I had concerned a man who came to me asking me to cast a demon out of him. After a word of explanation and praying I cast that demon out in the name the Lord Jesus Christ. And immediately the demon came out as evidenced by the man's face turning white and at that time the man said, 0 I am free, I am free.

You know, this is an interesting topic to me. I "tried" to help a person I knew when I was a teenager to come out of satan worship. The results were somewhat similar to the story in Acts about the 7 sons of Sceva. My encounter with this individual "helped" me turn down the wrong path and turn away from church. The good news is that God still drew me back into the fold at His appointed time. As far as I know, the fellow I tried to help never was saved.
