Mima, with the sinners dying breath, he confessed his sin, and confessed Jesus was sinless, and he asked Jesus to save him. And side-by-side with Jesus, Jesus answered his prayer.
---Eloy on 3/1/10

Without the Holy Spirit revealing the things of God to a person, he continues his path to hell, where he was heading already due to been dead in sin.
Listen if you have ears to hear, God, has to open your eyes, ears, and give you a new heart and understanding. Without it you are lost in sin. Pray that God will grant you the ability to see, hear and understand His Word, and finally believe it, and confess it with your mouth that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God.
---MarkV. on 3/1/10

MarkV, did you know Jesus said that one day many will say LORD LORD haven't we done this or that..and Jesus will say I NEVER knew you.

Therefore, believe it or not, many unsaved people CAN and do actually say LORD.

I hear false teachers all the time refer to Jesus as LORD. What their actually doing is taking God's name in vain.

That's why you need to put your verse in the proper perspective Paul was speaking. He was saying many who were speaking in unknown tongues were actually cursing God! As the Gift is one of the GIFTS of the Spirit, Paul said it was impossible for anyone truly having that Gift to accurse God.

---kathr4453 on 3/1/10

The interesting thing is that the Apostles kept it simple: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved...confess with your mouth He is Lord.

What I see happening here is that this has turned into an intellectual theological discussion. We think if we use much words we can convince somebody. But you can't convince a person concerning spiritual truths through one's intellect. The Bible is foolishness to those who are perishing because its spiritually discerned. The Holy Spirit must do the work on one's heart. The Gospel of Jesus is simple. Don't cause it to be a stumbling block through lengthy theological discussions!
---eric on 3/1/10

This statement was made.
"Only 1 way to get saved= Do what Jesus says, obey Jesus' commandments.
---Eloy on 2/27/10"

Question which commandments did the thief on the cross ,who went to Paradise, keep?
---mima on 3/1/10

The Holy Spirit won't live in someone who is not saved, PERIOD!

The Holy Spirit comes upon- ON them to convict them of their sin, they confess, then he goes to live in them.

Remember that when Peter confessed that Jesus was the Christ, the Holy Spirit was not in him.
The Holy Spirit was ON him.

Talk about gross misinterpretation of scripture!
---miche3754 on 3/1/10

To believe in Jesus Christ means much more than mere belief, for the demons believe in Jesus and they tremble, but certainly are not saved. Believe means to fully comprehend what Christ accomplished on the cross at Calvary. His work was finished and there's nothing more man can do to add to his salvation.

This is what the apostles meant when they said: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou SHALL be saved. They didn't maybe, or perhaps, thou shall be saved. Its a done deal.
---Craig on 3/1/10

Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit"MarkV

Again MarkV, you grab scripture that does not apply to JUSTIFICATION. Paul here is talking about SPIRITUAL Gifts, and those speaking in tongues.

MarkV, you need to STUDY and show yourself approved Rightly dividing teh word of Truth.

You need to go back to Romans 3 & 4 concerning, HOW WE GET SAVED. Also Romans 10:9-10. NOTHING stated there sayong you have to have the Holy Spirit FIRST.
---kathr4453 on 3/1/10

According to the bible you have salvation when you 1. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior
2. Believe Jesus died on the cross for our
3.Confess your sins.
Once these thing are done you are saved that is all that is to it nothing more or less. As simple as A,B,C Accept, Believe, and Confess. Your salvation is assured.
---Gene on 2/28/10

No one can come to Christ and confess Him as Lord and Savior unless they have already the Holy Spirit. For it is the Holy Spirit that reveals all Truth. And the Holy Spirit who brings life to the lost.

"Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit"

Those who are lost, cannot, on their own come to Christ by faith since faith in Christ is also a gift, that comes when the Holy Spirit reveals the Truth to the lost person. If the Holy Spirit does not reveal the Truth, the person continues the journey he was on, condemned because of sin.
---MarkV. on 2/28/10

If we use Acts 2:38 should we use Acts 2:36, as that was what this repentance was for. Should we use Acts 3:1 and have certain times for prayer? How about Acts 3:19,20 ..our sins Will we blotted out..when? Acts 4 the believers sold their possessions and laid the money at the Apostle feet did you ever see in any church what happened in Acts 5?
In Acts 6 would we be the Grecians or the Hebrews?
---michael_e on 2/28/10

Thanks all, for helping this lost sinner avoid damnation.

Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

To think I might have followed Peter's example and ended up in hell--like him.
---BruceB on 2/28/10

This is from Scripture'
2 Thess.
"..God chose you from the beginning to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the Truth" To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ" Not only did He choose us to be saved, but through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the Truth. Very simple.
James 2,
"Listen beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him"?
Pretty simple, us believers were chosen to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom.
---MarkV. on 2/28/10

From Scripture Amen Part 2:
Eph. 2,
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God-not because of works, lest any man should boast"
Simple passages, saved by Grace through faith, a gift of God-not free will or deeds of righteousness, lest any man should boast.
Philippians 1,
" For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in Him but also suffer for His sake" Another simple message.
2 Tim.
"..God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will"
---MarkV. on 2/28/10

Mark ... The funny thing is that we do not disagree about faith and trust.

I am just saying that belief and trust is the same thing.

If you can't see that, it is you that needs help, not I.

Do you know, in my day, the word was "converted" not "being born again" & not "saved" ??

So you would deny that when I say I was converted at at certain crusade, I was not saved? Just because the word I use is not the one you would use?
---alan85466_of_uk on 2/28/10

Amen Rod4Him.
Kath awesome posts, sis.
Alan thank you for trying to explain and I am still Prating for Markv.

You are right in the effect that we receive the reward after we pass, but while we are here we are to live as Christ tells us to and we ARE to die to self daily so that God's will be done in our lives right NOW.
How else do you explain what Jesus said to Nicodemus?
To be born again IS to be saved and it does happen in an instant. Christ takes the old heart and gives us a new one right then. Then we begin our walk in him. We are to show that we know that we know when we belong to God right now.

Bapt by water at 27 (though was raised Christian). From there, began to get convicted about sins. 3 yrs later, after seeking Him,woke up feel like I was floating. I experienced miraculous things that lasted for few months. Looking back, didn't realize magnitude of being bapt by fire becuz never taught. But God taught me. As I read His word, He showed me I got BORN-AGAIN(not momentary thing, anointing lasted long time). From bapt of water, then fire, then gifts, either bapt can happen first but both important. There are those who think they born-again by water just because Dove descended on Jesus. BUT, Jesus' heart/mind were prepared, perfected,-He is God. Others do not get fired so quickly. You can't receive His gifts without the bapt of fire.

...Being saved and being born again are the same thing. Also, the new birth experience happens immediatly after you repent and accept Christ as Lord of your life

what a curious thing ...seeing there are more than 2 dozen verses in scripture describing salvation as an inheritance which of course is a FUTURE event

repenting is TO God for sinning and forgiven of PAST sins where does it imply "new birth" ...since scripture DESCRIBES "new birth" as spiritual ETERNAL LIFE

...many duped believing their MORTAL physical body which will receive a death sentence (aka it is appointed to die)isn't really mortal

ASIDE from the fact you have dismissed the resurrection 1Corin 15
---Rhonda on 2/27/10

I think the confusion comes from Calvin's teaching that God gives faith (by some great lottery), and if God hasn't given it, it doesn't matter if one believes in Christ or not. Calvinism also teaches that one is born again before they are saved.

If I am wrong, I welcomed being corrected.

This teaching creates insecurity in individuals because how does one ever know if they have faith (that God gave), or do they believe without the faith God gives.
---Rod4Him on 2/27/10

Alan, ok, as I can see we do not agree and that is fine with me. Maybe you should listen to Kathr she seems to have all the answers. In fact everything I have stated is wrong as far as she is concern. I cannot help you on this one brother, I leave you peace.

Mark V. - You are confused. Being saved and being born again are the same thing. Also, the new birth experience happens immediatly after you repent and accept Christ as Lord of your life. Then you start the journey of santification (growing in Christ).

For "Christ is the Author and finisher of our Faith"
"Our" means "believers"
---MarkV. on 2/27/10

markV, where you began is actually in the middle of a sentence, The WHOLE sentence begins verse 1.. and the whole text continues past verse 2.

That verse is our sanctification AFTER we are saved. It's talking about the fellowship of His sufferings we endure as we follow Him.

This is not about your doctrine of the secret elect being given faith to believe unto salvation...

Of coarse after being saved, Christ in you WILL work in you HIS LIFE and HIS WILL here and now. That's what Heb 12 is talking about. LIVING by faith...a continual daily event.
---kathr4453 on 2/27/10

MarkV ... I'm obviously still not making my point clear. Please read all I said carefully. I'm not trying to explain anything away. No-one is saying you don't need faith, we are just using a different word to mean the same thing.

Satan believes in Jesus (that He is son of the God that he is fighting against)but he does not trust Jesus for salvation. That's one meaning of "believe in" .. believing a fact.

The other meaning is when I, or Miche, or Kathr, or Nana say "I believe in Jesus Christ" because that means we believe and trust in Him.

And that is the same as faith.

The blog question is how we get SAVED, not how we get sanctified.

MarkV, truly in love, I urge you to separate the two. Justification is by faith in the finished work of Christ. Christ's Righteousness is IMPUTED to us instantly.

Sanctification of: "the Just shall live by faith (The Just being the Justified moves now to sanctification and is a life long Process.

What kind of life can we Expect to live now?
A life identified with Christ, the fellowship of His sufferings. Paul tells us exactly in Phil 3.
We know the Author and Finisher is running the race with us and is in us as we presses on, forgetting our old life and leaving it behind pressing UPWARD!!!
---kathr4453 on 2/27/10

Alan, faith means to have trust and no matter what you have faith in without God they will always fail. But trust in God is ultimate because He never fails.
Everyone can believe, but not everyone can have faith in Christ. You can explain it away and give it another name but the definition from Scripture will not change. For "Christ is the Author and finisher of our Faith"
"Our" means "believers"
---MarkV. on 2/27/10

MarkV ... You see Even "believe in" can have two quite different meanings.

I used to work for an insurance company ... lets call it "ABC Co"

Now millions upon millions of people worldwide "believed in" ABC Co, because it was known to exist, people had policies with it and you could see their offices. Same as Satan beleiving in Jesus's existence.

But I as an employeee "believed in" ABC Co in a totally different way ... I knew and had absolute faith in that company as the absolutely best insurance company in the world.

So Miche's "belief in" can be just the same as your "faith"

Discussions about how that comes to us are a different issue!
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/27/10

We are all born sinners and no one is a good person. The 10 commandments are given to us as rules to live by. If we have broken any of these commandments then it is sin. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. God is a just God, like a judge here on earth. If we brake the law, we will be fined or go to jail. Likewise, God is perfect and holy and will judge us for our sins. However, a Savior was promised to us. Jesus lived and was crucified so that we may live eternally in Heaven.

Tne best way to get saved is to accept Christ into your heart, ask for his guidiance and to talk to him daily. Ask God to show you what is right and what is wrong. If you truley believe in God he will speak to you. Thank him for the good days and ask for his strength during the bad days. Anyone can get saved if they truley give thier hearts to God. You do not need a priest, pastor or anyone else to help you accomplish this. It is between you and God and no one else.

Miche, a personality disorder, you say, well thank you for having this godly discussion with me. And you complain that others say things that they should not. Thanks for your incouraging words for me today.
---MarkV. on 2/26/10

Thank you Alan, that is very correct. That is exactly what I was saying. I really pray that God will let Mark understand what I am saying. It seems to me that he is the only one who doesn't. I am still praying.

Amen Kath, everyone's salvation beginning is NOT the same.
---miche3754 on 2/26/10

We believe IN what Jesus did for us, and that it does save & has saved us.

Now that "Belief in" IS the same as "faith in"

Does that help?
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/26/10

1. MarkV, if you had to BEG for forgivness, then that is not faith, but works.

Faith is simply believing Jesus FORGAVE our sin and THANKING Him for doing so.

2. MarkV, if you had to commit yourself to Jesus...that again is not faith, but works.

Salvation is not committing yourself to Jesus, salvation is RECEIVING Jesus Christ.

Faith comes from hearing, hearing the Word of God. A person can hear for years and one day faith comes to him. It might take him another year for him to make a commitment to Christ, but he already has the faith to believe. Then one day there is a revival, and he goes there and commits his life to Christ, begs for forgiveness, and he does that because of the faith he received by listening to the Word. So faith comes before a person can make a confession to Christ otherwise his confession has no faith.
---MarkV. on 2/26/1

MarkV are you speaking of your own conversion? So you think everyone HAS to be just like Yours?

Paul was struck down, Yet, Paul never stated one must be struck down personally by Jesus to be saved.
---kathr4453 on 2/26/10

Mark & Miche ... I think you are saying the same things, but use the word "belief" in different ways

Mark you say "Believing and faith are two different things. The devil believes and he is not saved because he does not have faith in Christ. Faith in His works on the cross, faith in the forgiveness of sin, or faith in His resurrection"

The devil believes THAT Jesus is the Son of God, Satan's enemy, and that He tried to save us from Satan by His sacrifice.

We believe IN what Jesus did for us, and that it does save & has saved us.

Now that "Belief in" IS the same as "faith in"

Does that help?
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/26/10

NOW you believe God's word!
I know faith(believing)comes from hearing God's word!!!
I and several others(Long list!) have tried many(millions) of times to explain this to you. You are the one who refuses to listen.
You keep saying God has to give man faith to believe. That is NOT true according to God's word.
His word say if you have the faith a of a mustard seed in HIM, we can move mountains.
This faith is NOT given by God. It is because we Believe God's words.
I keep telling you, God has already proven who he is! All we have to do is believe it and he will increase that belief(FAITH).

I am starting to believe you have a personality disorder, seriously.
---miche3754 on 2/26/10

Hello Leslie, welcome to the discussion, you said,
"The Bible says that you can only get saved by being born again'

After this sentence, you gave an explanation but never mentioned in the explanation when rebirth took place.
So what you are saying is that in order to be save, you need to be born again before you are saved? or after?
Please give passages to that effect. I will curtiously answer you.

An aspect here, getting & staying saved. When you was born, did you not take on the family name? It's The Same with God & His Family, you take on The name Jesus Christ in water baptism according to Acts 2 v 38-41 & this Fulfills Matt.28 v 19.

When your baptized in the titles Father-Son & Holy spirit, you go down as a dry sinner & come up a wet sinner, No name, Nothing is applied. There is No 1 found in the scriptures that was literally baptized in the titles Father-Son & Holy spirit.<--- this Is Mans teachings that came from here, 2nd. Cor.11 v's 14-15, Not God's. (Scripture says, Father-Son & Holy Ghost, Man says Holy-spirit)
---Lawrence on 2/26/10

The Bible says that you can only get saved by being born again. What this means is that you have confessed and repented (turned away from) sin, and you have put your trust in Jesus Christ and His blood (asked Jesus into your heart and made Him Lord (boss) over your life). Repentance and Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to be saved according to the Bible - there is NO other way. Anything else is NOT salvation and will still lead to Hell according to the Bible.
---Leslie on 2/26/10

Miche, I sure don't know all that you are talking about. Just a mixture of a lot of words. Try using the Word of God and that will help you a lot.

---MarkV. on 2/26/10

Satan is where he is because he is in rebellion to God, sound familiar- so are we when we don't believe AND do God's will.
Thats why I always have said you can't have one without the other.
You have to believe and have works. One is a manifestation of the other.
If you believe and don't have the manifestation of the work of Christ in your life, you are just like satan. You can have the faith that Christ is real all you want but it is nothing without HIS WORK showing in you.
Believing IS the beginning of Faith.
It is the same as having faith that your car will start in the morning. But see God tells us NOT to place our faith in those things. He tells us to put it in Him. Believe, Trust Faith.
---miche3754 on 2/26/10

Miche, again I say you are wrong. Believing and faith are two different things. The devil believes and he is not saved because he does not have faith in Christ. Faith in His works on the cross, faith in the forgiveness of sin, or faith in His resurrection. Many in churches today believe in Jesus but never make a true confession to Christ because they have no faith. Some think they have it but have no contrite heart.
God has presented Himself that He is real to the whole world, but they do not honor Him as God because they have no faith in Him. They reject the Truth. They were already condemned through the curse, so all they do is continue their course.
Hope that helped.
---MarkV. on 2/26/10

Yes, Markv

You are welcome but what you must understand is that faith, is not given to us to make us believe.
Faith IS Believing. They are the same.
And God has already presented his evidence that he is real.
He doesn't have to do anything else ever.
Now, it is up to man to believe him- in other words, HAVE FAITH.
Or he can NOT believe(not have faith) and God will give him over to a reprobate mind because of it.
Again, with the cherry picking, so sad you don't understand that forced love is not love at all. And God doesn't want forced love, he wants willing love just like Jesus showed us.
---miche3754 on 2/26/10

Miche, thank's for been patient and advicing others to be patient with me. Maybe it's working but I don't see it yet.
About faith:
1. "For by grace you have been saved through "faith"and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" Pretty simple, saved by Grace, through faith, a gift of God, so no one can boast it came from them.
2. If salvation is of grace, as the Scriptures clearly teach, it connot be of works, Whether actual or forseen. There is no merit in believing, for faith itself is a gift of God. God gives His people an inward working of the Spirit in order that they may believe, and faith is only the act of receiving the proffered gift.
---MarkV. on 2/25/10

Nana and Mima!!!
Awesome posts.
Please have patience with Markv. He does not understand that God does not give you faith to believe in him, he lets you choose to believe in him. He doesn't understand that God means it when he said "WHO SO EVER WILL".
God doesn't have anything else to do to prove he is God.
He sent Jesus and he was shown to the whole world. Now, man has 2 choices, to believe and be saved, or not to believe and die.
He doesn't understand that a faith comes from what you believe and believing comes from what you see,and hear.
I really truly pray that God opens his eyes on this one thing.

Nana, good passage you gave, the word of God is always truthful. It's a good thing you did not make any commentaries on the Word or we would have a problem. You wrote, "Romans 1:21 "but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened."
That passage is so true just like all the others. But don't cut it in half, It begins with, "Because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened"
That is the condition everyone lost is in. They know about God but reject Him for lack of faith. But knowing about Him condemns them. They have no excuse.

25 "they exchanged the truth about God"
26 "... For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions"
28 "..., God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done"
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life"
Romans 1:21 "but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened."

Mima, I read it over a hundred times,
"How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?'

Pauls main point in this series of rhetorical questions is that a clear presentation of the gospel message must precede true saving faith. True faith always has content-the revealed Word of God. Salvation comes to those who hear and believe by faith the facts of the gospel. If you don't believe by faith in the facts of the gospel you can never confess Christ as your Lord and Savior.
---MarkV. on 2/24/10

---MarkV your last post indicates to me that perhaps you should read the first of Romans 10:14 which says,
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?"
Many people will tell you know they do not want to call, want to pray about their salvation, are simply say I do not believe.
At which time the witnesses is over.
---mima on 2/24/10

Mima is correct, whosoever calls on the name of the Lord, but what he forgot was they have to have faith when they call otherwise their calling is false. No faith. No salvation. They have to have faith before they call on the name of the Lord. They have to have a change of heart. They have to be ready to plead for mercy. They have to believe that Christ died for their sins and believe in His resurrection. If they don't believe by faith how can they call on the name of the Lord?

I have to agree with Mima, Rodney, Kath, michael e.
All great posts and all part of what happens to us when we choose the salvation that is placed in front of us.

Concerning how we get saved would it be permissible to follow the instructions given in the Bible?

In Romans 10:13, Acts 2:21, Joel 2:32, the Bible says," whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved"

So there is the instructions follow this instructions and you will have proof within yourself(prompted by the Holy Spirit) that you are saved.

Jonah 2:8 (NIV) Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.

If God determined before time began who would be reprobates, and therefore does not extend the grace to them by which they could be saved, how logically can we understand this verse's statement that these reprobates, "forfeited the grace that could be theirs.?"

Did they forfeit Grace before the world began? Did they even exist before the world began? Well, only if you are a Mormon would you believe such nonsense.

I shared before that I accepted Christ watching TBN one morning after I had cried out to God. I was in sales and took many customers to lunch who went to church. None ever witnessed to me. After I got saved the first church I attended I met one of my favorite customers. I took him to lunch every 1 or 2 weeks for a few years. He invited me to his bible study. When I showed up I said my name is Bob. He said "they all know you because we have been praying for you". I was a sinner and I didn't attend church, pray or watch TBN. When I cried out, God saved me. He knew my heart was ready and He provided the way for me to be saved. God provides a way for everyone to get saved when they are ready!

To answer your question ...
Social/family pressure
"Just in case"
Not faith in the power of Jesus's sacrifice, but in the power of the baptism ritual.

And of course there is the case of infant baptism, where it is so often done as a social thing, and all the words are just said by the parents in order to get through the ceremony and back to the party.

Michael_e, physical (water) baptism simply symbolizes and publicly expresses that which happens within, a "putting off the body of the sins of the flesh," as in being "buried with Him in baptism [of the Spirit]" and "raised with [Him] through faith in the working of God." Col 2:11,12.
It is that which Paul referred to as "the baptism of repentance" in Act 19:4 and is advocated of Peter in Act 2:38 when he said "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." Note: Baptism in water 'is' distinguished from baptism with the Holy Spirit in this verse, which ends with "and ye 'shall' receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Michael_e, to clarify, I am not saying that there are two baptisms, simply that the external is representative of the internal. For there is but "One Lord, one faith, one baptism...For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body." Eph.4:5>1Cor. 12:13
"For if we have been planted together (can be applied as concerning baptism in water) 'in the likeness' of his death, we shall be also [raised (out of that water) in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:" Rom 6:5
"The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:" 1Pe 3:21>See Mat. 28:19

"If a person is baptised just because it's the done thing in his church, it that a Holy Baptism which regenerates..."

Sorry for answering a question with a question, but why would he or she undergo Holy Baptism in this sense? Confession of Faith and Holy Baptism are inseparable.

"What happens if a person accepts the sacrifice of Jesus, but dies before he is baptised?"

Although we are bound by God's Sacraments (Mysteries), He is not bound by them, and can save who ever He wishes.

"What is imporant, the physical performance of the baptism by another human, or the person's heart and his relationship with God?"

Both are inseparable.

Ignatius ... If a person is baptised just because it's the done thing in his church, it that a Holy Baptism which regenerates, and remits his sins, and saves him ?

What happens if a person accepts the sacrifice of Jesus, but dies before he is baptised? Does that mean his sins are not remitted, and he is not saved?

What is imporant, the physical performance of the baptism by another human, or the person's heart and his relationship with God?

"baptism.....outward expression of a.....inward change" (Josef)

Although this is the commonly accepted belief among Evangelical Protestant Christians, it is not, however, the belief of Holy Scriptures nor the Early Christians (1st-11th centuries). It is interesting that the first generations of Christians viewed Holy Baptism radically different that what Evangelicals today believe (i.e., a symbolical act).

A good book on this is Baptism in the Early Church: History, Theology, and Liturgy in the First Five Centuries by renown Protestant historian/scholar Everett Ferguson.

Thankfully, the majority of Christians have kept the historical belief of Holy Baptism-regeneration, remission of sins, etc.

Without any person's oppinion, according to the Bible there is only one way to get saved, namely, lit.Gk: "Obey up to the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved." Acts 16:30-34.

What does get baptised mean?-a on 2/4/10

A. To 'receive' baptism is to allow one's self to be immersed into the life, death, and resurrection of The LORD Jesus, The Christ, through the empowerment of His gift of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. That one "may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, [while] 'being made' conformable unto his death," For as "many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death." Phl 3:10>Rom.6:3-8
Physical baptism is an outward expression of a recognized inward change, symbolizing the death and burial [immersion] of the old man of sin and a raising of a new man " 'created' in righteousness." Eph.4:24

Biblically, God saves whom he wills and he uses HIS message of Grace. God had made a promise Matt1:21 to save His people from their sins Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
The gospel is the means God uses to SAVE HIS PEOPLE

Rom 1:16 aFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, b
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith

Rom 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

People get save by doing the following:

1. Receive knowledge of God's word, Jesus, and the Kingdom of God.

2. Believe it to be true.

3. Repent of all your sins.

4. Get baptised. (don't just stop at water baptism like most christians).

5. Glorify God in everything you do.

6. Seek fellowship.

7. Practise what you learned. Do an online KJV bible search for "one another," "each other," and "ecourag" because living a christian life is a 24/7 lifestyle - not a once a week pep talk dished out by denominational "churches."

8. Help populate the Kingdom of God, for every person you convert, a multitude of your sins will be forgotten.

Getting yourself saved, God has only 1 Salvation Plan which is according to Mark 16 v 16, Acts 2 v's 37-41 which Fulfills Matt. 28 v's 19-20, Gal.1 v's 8-9. Pray every day, read your Bible, attend Church when the doors are opened, witnessing, living a clean & holy-life & it's every day proccess in being-staying saved.
Leave the devil & his things of this world alone (social drinks, movies, dancing, wasting money to see sports, missing services etc.), 1st. John 2 v's 15-16. If you partake of these things, it's Your choice to be lost.

---Bob on 2/2/10 has some good points about getting saved. But here's a suggestion as to how you can test yourself as to whether or not you are saved. If you are constantly worried about whether or not you are saved that fact should be a red flag to you.

There is security in true salvation, a certain knowing so, a comfort and peace that really does pass all human understanding.

To Whosoever Has An Ear To Hear?

Brethren, We choose to Believe & come to Understand only what we're able to Hear ... and Faith unto Salvation comes by Spiritually Hearing God's Word : not to be mistaken for physically hearing it. Rom.10:17

By the Grace of God through Faith in the Finished Works of Christ, is how we get Saved : and it's by His Works & His Works alone, that we're kept Saved unto the redemption of Salvation through being "Dead to sin" and no longer dead in sin. 1Peter 2:24, Eph.2:5

Whosoever having ears to Hear the Drawing Spirit of God's Word saying "Choose Life", will choose Life in Christ by Faith : as Saul on the road to Damascus. John 6:44, Deu. 30:19, Acts 22:6-10

I lived according to the ways of the world and according to my own fleshly desires. I didn't attend church, watch christian tv, read christian material or the bible. I associated with my peer group of sinners. Having tried basically everything to satisfy my emotional needs my way, I finally gave up and waking up one morning I cried out to God. I suppose He must have sent the Holy Spirit at that instant to prepare my heart to receive the message of salvation. I turned the tv on and ended up on TBN which I never watched and an invititation to accept Jesus was being directed at those watching in and I got down on my knees and prayed the prayer. I've had a personal relationship with God for 25 years now. When someone is ready God will be there.

"How We Get Saved?" We do not "get" saved, that implies man somehow procures salvation. We 'are saved' through the faith of Jesus, the grace of the Father, and the empowerment of Christ. All that is required of us, is that once drawn to salvation and given to understand that the Father "so loved the 'world' (as in the human inhabitants of this planet), that He gave His only begotten Son, [so] that whosoever 'believes' (relies on, adheres to, and trust) in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life," Is to acknowledge His gift as sufficient, and willingly confess the fact that Jesus is LORD. That belief, acknowledgment and confession is only possible for man through the Divine influence of His Spirit.
