48 Year Old Plumber Salvation

Yesterday a 48-year-old plumber accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in my living room. Fully aware that many will consider this prideful still I want to report after a short witness he said he wanted to be saved at which time I led him in a sinner's prayer. Your comments---

Moderator - Amen! Keep it up for the Kingdom!

Bob, not a problem, and what you said is awesome working for God in printing and passing out the Truth to those in prison. God has many ways to use us to do His work. Some times you find yourselve talking to someone who is sick and God has put you on his path. Everything from beginning to end is of God. He is so awesome Bob. From the day I came to Christ to this day, 20 years later, I have been so spiritually joyful in my heart. Someone told me a year after I beginned that in five years it would go away. Not a chance. In fact it has gotten more joyful as time goes by. Keep the good work Bob, blessings to you.

MarkV, I appreciate your support on my behalf. I can't write down my 25 years of being a Christian in 125 words. Thats why I very seldom comment on other blogs unless I submit something complementary or edifying. As an usher, greeter, etc..I witnessed many who went to the alter and got saved because they came to church as a guest. I have also prayed and led individuals to Christ. I had my own ministry and printed over 100,000 scripture cards with the majority going to a prison ministry. I had fellowship members in prison which received my newsletter, I published and printed 6,000 copies of a small witnessing book, etc.. If a seed is not planted and watered it cannot grow.
---Bob on 2/9/10

Mima, don't be silly. There is no condemnation to anyone here. It was only something you said to Bob. I would have thought you would have told him you had a better way, or showed him what works for you and what you do. You didn't do that. I just brought it to your attention. Our focus is what God is doing in peoples lives. What Christ did for them. His Works not ours, that was all.
You can tell me when I am out of line. I will get back in line if you are right.
---MarkV. on 2/9/10

If you think I'm prideful I will agree. If you think I'm obnoxious I will agree. If you think I should be imprisoned for my views I will agree. I will agree with any criticism you might have of me. I am just wanting you to see a method(confrontational one on one witnessing) that is very affecting. Many people desire to be soulwinners but have no idea about how to go about soulwinning. And to accept lifestyle evangelism or passing out tracks as a highly effective method is simply not correct.
---mima on 2/8/10

Sister Donna66, I am glad you did not take it the wrong way. I love what you do and what you write down. I also love what Mima does for the cause and if it wasn't for him we would not have so many blogs to answer. You can tell that his whole life revolves around what he and his wife do for Christ. I was hoping pride didn't take root, as if to think, what he is doing over an over and not what God is doing. I didn't read that on the blog. Again peace to you and Mima
---MarkV. on 2/7/10

MarkV --maybe I didn't read that other blog.
I don't remember. I didn't mean to paint Mima's critics with such a broad brush.. God bless anyone who spreads the Good News.

Not everyone would respond to mima's style (and some might "go through the motions" just so he will leave them alone) But, at least, he's doing something. Hopefully, GOD gets the credit.

Life-style evangelism is probably more effective, only if the Gospel is given sooner or later...hopefully not too late. We don't want people to just look at US and and think what nice people we are! We want them to see JESUS
But I, myself, had to see Christianity in action, before I would even listen!
---Donna66 on 2/7/10

Donna66, I love to hear that brothers are evangelizing in prisons and the streets. In answer to your comment,
"IMHO, those who criticize, may well wish that their witness could have the same power to move people that yours does"
That might be true for some but not everyone.
I do consider what he said prideful. I answered him on, "a Godly man" blog because what I saw was a person who compared his witnessing better then Bob's. Here he knew it would be prideful and yet wanted our comments. People that work for God love to work for God, they just do it. But comparing his way better isn't right. It's alway a matter of what "I" did. The focus should be God and what He is doing.
---MarkV. on 2/6/10

That's AWESOME, Mima! =D How precious is that one soul! He (and she) who wins souls is wise!
---Gordon on 2/6/10

Well, the thing to remember is this: Preachers are never to take any of the credit, for God saving a lost soul. It is the power of the Blood which does the job. I am talking about true salvation, here. I wish you all a good weekend.
---catherine on 2/6/10

Cluny -- Salvation is totally a work of God. A sincere prayer, spoken or unspoken, and perhaps of very few words, is the only way I know of acknowledging a willingness to accept God's free gift of Salvation.
---Donna66 on 2/5/10

Mima...Did something happen that you didn't tell us about? Suddenly you are a "she" instead of a he. Isn't it funny how people assume things like that?
---KarenD on 2/5/10

Obewan>>>I judge no one! ---catherine

I misunderstood your comment. You sure could have fooled me. I like what the moderator had to say. Of course that plumber was concerned about going to hell. That is why he wanted to be saved.

I think we should encourage the poster to continue with his witness. What if everyone just waited for God to act alone and no one witnessed? What if that plumber had been killed in a car wreck in an unsaved condition?

The OP said the man was saved, and you posted you had a problem with that which means you are either unhappy he got saved or you don't think he IS saved. Remember, Satan is the accuser. I dont care much for 'Christians' who plant seeds of doubt regarding the salvation of others.
---obewan on 2/5/10

Obewan>>>I judge no one! God has already judged you, You are only awaiting the sentence of hell, my friend, if you die without Jesus. I know from my own experience, that Jesus comes to the individual for salvation. And I know from my own salvation experience that it is God who initiates a sinners prayer. Because, I knew nothing, He also flashed hell right infront of me, and said "that is where you are gonna go if you don't get forgiveness of all your sins", just prior to my receiving salvation. So, yes, I have a problem with a lot of preachers who's going to be accused on judgment day as a mass murderer. For misleading people. I do not intend to be one of those people. You have a good day, anyways.
---catherine on 2/5/10

Mima-- There will always be some that criticize your reports. I know that you give God the credit and the praise.
God has given you a gift of evangelism that not many have. I know you will continue in the work God has given you.

(IMHO, those who criticize, may well wish that their witness could have the same power to move people that yours does)
---Donna66 on 2/5/10

May I suggest Luke 23:42-43,"42- And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom

Cluny says
//That was not a prayer, but a direct address to Jesus hanging on the cross beside him.//

If the thief had seen Jesus as a great teacher, a rabbi, King of the Jews...he would be merely making a request of another human. But his words indicate that he saw Jesus as LORD, a personification of the divine, in that His "kingdom" existed after death. I think that qualifies his plea as a prayer.
---Donna66 on 2/5/10

Well, I have a problem with it. God initiates a sinner's prayer.
---catherine on 2/5/10

And what don't you ever have a problem with?
Do you pretend to have the mind of God so as to know what/who prompted him to seek salvation? You seem to love judging others on this blog that is sure.

Where did you get the idea that salvation came as the result of saying a prayer?

Can you tell me where the Bible says that?
---Cluny on 2/4/10

cluny - I think when Jesus was giving the two examples of someone praying. One said I thank you Lord I am not like the rest, I tithe, etc.,

Then Jesus gave the example of the man without pride who prayed, "Lord be merciful to me, a sinner."

Can you tell me where that is in scripture because I forget. Sorry.
---Donna on 2/5/10

Well, I have a problem with it. God initiates a sinner's prayer. Lets be careful as to what is true salvation. Ahhh. Preachers, are always boasting! "Look at all these people coming down here to accept the Lord"! Really!!!!God had better be bringing them down. By His power.
---catherine on 2/5/10

\\Can salvation be gained by a prayer?
May I suggest Luke 23:42-43,"42- And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

"43-And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Try again.

Mima when I began to read the question and I said to myself thats Mima. Your reputation doth proceed you and what better one could you have. I admire anyone with Holy Boldness. Witnessing that way has never been my style but that is wonderful to know someone has the Lord because of your witness to them. May the power of the Lord rest upon you in an even greater way as you win souls for God.

That is so great, mima.Keep the good work up for the Lord.Cluny and those of you if you look in the bible it says the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ.Read romans 10:9. The sinner's prayer is how God hears us before we get saved.THe sinners prayer is when we pray for Gods forgiveness, repent, and accept Jesus as lord and savior, and truly mean it. Also it is once saved always saved. Jesus died only one time for everyones sins.

And mima didn't claim she saved anyone. She said she led someone to the lord. And just asked if it was prideful to report that she witnessed to someone and they accepted Jesus. That isn't being prideful. That is the more reason as christians when we here someone report that they witnessed to someone and they accepted Jesus, that we should be saying Amen, and rejoicing in that another soul got saved for the Lord. So maybe instead of saying the sinners prayer as if there is something wrong with it,and instead of misunderstanding what mima said, you should be rejoicing with her that another soul was saved for the Lord.Another soul that will get to go to heaven one day.
---angea on 2/4/10

It is a joyous occasion to see someone come to Christ. Yes, you were an instrument of the Holy Spirit and have good reason to rejoice. Praise God! I do not believe that sharing this wonderful news is prideful. All of the angels are rejoicing with you and so am I. I do hope the man finds fellowship with other believers so that he can grow in faith and wisdom. Are you going to follow-up with him to see how it is going or give him a Bible? Giving him a New Testament Bible is cheap and an investment in the Kingdom. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Blessings to you:)

Yes, Mima, it is prideful. The Lord saves people, not you.
---KarenD on 2/4/10

There is the scripture that says, "One plants and another waters."

However, I think there should be some "follow through" on how the person is doing who prayed the prayer. Maybe direct him to a person who can disciple/teach him in things of the Lord.

I am not suggesting that mima is doing this, but years ago I remember a person who focused on getting people to say a prayer, but there was no follow through, just another notch on the Biblical gun.

At least mima is in the battle of bringing the Gospel to people.

The so called sinners prayer, repeat aft me is no diff than the Man-made teachings of once saved always saved - no works salvation - easy believism which All came from here, 2nd. Cor 11 v' 14-15 which Are All Man-made teachings in the which was derived from r-catholocism the first trin-church.

Cluny, it doesn't, but mima did his part, the part of working out your own salvation with fear and trembling is not up for mima to do for that person. Right?

Isn't it up to that person to pursue the trith of the gospel, learn it, live by it, speak it out, etc.,? Or am I missing something?
---Donna on 2/4/10

And where does the Bible say you can be saved by merely saying a "sinner's prayer"?

Have you checked up on the other converts you say you've made? Are they persevering?

Or do you drop them and go on to the next mark?
---Cluny on 2/4/10

I'm excited for him and thanks to you for your faithfulness in a short witness to him. He could have gotten bored with some long speech, but you used wisdom and he accepted Jesus as His Lord and Savior - very exciting. Congrats mima. Well done they good and faithful servant.
