God says, "Faith without works is dead":
sinners say, "Faith without works is a gift of salvation.
---Eloy on 2/22/10

God actually judges the heart of man. It out of the heart that man speaks and acts.
It is not what goes into a man that defiles him but what comes out of his mouth. And out of the mouth speaks the heart.
This is why we need a new heart and new mind so we might do the right things according to God.
And the only person that can give man a new heart and mind is Christ.

Hear me, says the Lord: O lost sheep, some looking for the right way, and others fixed on deception. Many of you are not willing to pay for my salvation, but will turn away in sorrow, for truly to have my salvation and my life you must first deny yourself and follow after me. I have laid down my whole life for you says the lord, and will you not lay down yours for me? for if you will not give me your whole life, then I will not give you mine, says the Lord. Give up to me your hardened life, and I will give you mine, for I will write my love upon your heart and I will truly give you a new heart after God."
---Eloy on 2/22/10

When James said I will shew thee my faith by my works Or Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. So many think this is saying you must physically climb the mountain.

The centurion! Saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick.
Did the servant know Christ, hear of him or even believe in him? I think not.

Even the lord marveled, saying!
Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

You should be men under authority, knowing your lord!
To say to this man, Go, and he goeth, and to another, Come, and he cometh, and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

True faith is your work!

Matt.25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

What Jesus was talking about in Matt 25:41-46 hasn't happened yet.

grace and (faith in grace) is a gift
so it can be said that God chooses men not man

Jesus says: "Why call you all me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Depart from me, all you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungered, and you all gave me no food: I was thirsty, and you all gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and you all took me not in: naked, and you all clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and you all visited me not. Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you all did nothing for one of the least of these, you all did nothing for me. And these will go away into everlasting punishment." Luke 6:46+ Matthew 25:41-46.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that ,not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast

I suppose you can quibble about whether faith is an action or an attitude, but it IS evident that no man can save himself.

AFTER salvation is the time for good works, but even these are initiated by God. We cannot take credit for them.
Phl 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
---Donna66 on 2/21/10

Gods Word is plain GIFT of salvation is eternal life Rom 6:23 and the reward (future event) of those who believe Christ and faith of things not seen - one cannot see or feel the gift of eternal life in their flesh and blood physical body because it must be destroyed at death -appointed ONCE for ALL to DIE Heb 9:27

religious christianity teaches salvation is EARNED by "saving people" today which is antirchrist to Holy Word of God

ONLY God can SAVE (give the gift of salvation which is eternal life) not man

and ONLY God can call those to HIM and ONLY God will give the gift of salvation to those who obey HIM at Christ return 1Corin15
---Rhonda on 2/20/10

Eph. 2,8-10 For by grace you have been saved thru faith. And this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God,not a result of works, so no one may boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Does not these verses say good works are simply the result of those who have been saved (notice the past tense) and it is God's workmanship within the believer?

And does not Philippians 2:13 simply say 'it is God who works within the believer both to will and to work for His good pleasure'?

Or is grace we receive from Him simply the capability to obey the laws of the Bible for our own salvation and that according to our own understanding?

Praying is a Work and an Action and a Doing, and it is to be Done without ceasing and in the Spirit. I challenge all Workless believers to repent from their disobedience, and Do Do the Works of Christ as he Commands, else God's wrath and his judgment of condemnation rightly remain upon the Workless for bearing no fruit.

You know the Bible says ask Jesus for forgiveness. Ask the Holy spirit to come in. God will forgive. But what if you accidentally logged out and this site won't let you back in? lol you are screwed.
---Brendie on 2/20/10

Mima, you are correct, works saves no one, if you look at those who stood before Christ in Matthew 7:21-23 you will see that works never saved anyone. Here are these men Jesus says, "many will come to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name," Here these people did a lot of works in the name of Jesus, and what does Jesus say, "And then I will declare to them, I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness"
What did works give them? nothing. But if they had faith in Jesus Christ, they would have been saved.

-- Eloy & Donna :

Brethren, We're Saved by God's Grace through Hopes of Faith in Christ, a Believing Faith unto the Works by which a man is Justified.

There is no difference between this righteousness of Faith & Belief nor between Faith & the Works that manifest from it, b/c faith without works is dead, and Faith that is dead does not exist and is why the Obedient Works of God are not manifested : and any belief held that's not of Faith is sin. Rom.3:22, James 2:17

So your both are correct. But the Spiritually Discerned answer to the original Blog question is that our Judgment is according to & is hinged on "Faith", and whether or not those Beliefs & Works were Done in the Faith by which we're Saved.

Mima, To the workless, thus says the Lord: "Say not within yourself, I have Abraham to my father, or I have Jesus to my salvation: for Abraham I know, and Jesus the righteous I know, but who are you? I say not, Well believed you good and faithful believer, enter you into my joy: no, not at all, says the Lord, but I say: Well done you good and faithful servant, enter you into my joy. Now if you truly want to be in my love and want to be with me, then repent and do my will: for the figless tree is no worth to me says the Lord, and is condemned."

Have you not pray for someone to be saved at a distance. You never met them you did not know them yet you felt led to pray about their salvation. And lo and behold they received their salvation right before your eyes!!!!
---mima on 2/19/10

Just because he or she said they received Jesus Christ as their personnel saviour , does not mean they are saved. Jesus himself said " Not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven"

Besides this same person if you see them again in a month or a year and they are not walking with Christ, you would say they were never save to begin with..
---Ruben on 2/19/10

Mima,

Salvation is not of works, but enduring to the end, IS.
How do you run a race to the finish if you are still stuck at the starting line?
How do you expect to get to the end if you aren't following after what the spirit tells you to do? Isn't following after the Spirit working and displaying the works of the Spirit through you?
Or do you think they are manifested out of thin air?
Those who labor are laboring for God and HIS glory not their own so can you please stop accusing people of working for their salvation when God tells them to work it out in his word! They are following what the Spirit is telling them to do.

Paul, A-men. There are too many disobeyers falsely calling themselves Christian when they have no Christ in themselves, but instead they are full of selfish flesh. Mima, yes, a discrepancy indeed, for you are leaving out the most important part of faith which is works. For Jesus was talking about her ACTIVE faith which is precisely faith WITH HER WORKS, for if she had "faith only" "without works" then she never would have obtained her healing, but instead she would have remained at her home sick with her issue of blood and she never would have gotten herself up and gone out and pressed through the crowds to get to Jesus in order to touch him and to get healed. The woman's faith alone did not touch Jesus, because faith alone is dead and cannot touch anything of itself, but the woman's physical hand touched Jesus, which if she would not have DONE so then she would have gotten nothing.

Eloy is correct that just believing something doesn't make it so. As James says "Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works." James 2:17,18 Faith is an action. Faith without works is dead just as works without faith is dead.

Donna, Mockers not always will laugh: "You believe that there is one God, you do well: the devils also believe and tremble. There was a man with an unclean spirit dwelling among the tombs, and when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him. And Jesus asked him, What is your name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion, for we are many. And all the demons begged him saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them. And forth with Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand,) and were drownwed in the sea." Eloy, Not every one that saith Lord, Lord, is Saved, even though they were a Doer, it wasn't done in Faith .... Romans 10:9 If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. Belief brings us to God through our Lord Jesus Christ that he is the son of God,crucified, and risen from the dead and through our action of confession before man we are saved. Our lives are to be lived holy for no longer do we give lives, our flesh over to sin,but we give ourselves, our lives over to God to do what is pleasing to him. It appears that God will judge us for our beliefs and our actions/behavior. A servant follows his masters footsteps. If we follow Satan we act like the devil,If we follow Christ we act like the Lord. Our hearts, who we love is reflected in our actions.,
---Darlene_1 on 2/18/10

Mima, Each soul is judged according to our works: for faith without works is 100% dead. A faith or a belief or a thought itself cannot save anyone, but the acting or the working or the doing because of ones belief brings about the salvation. Noah believed, but if he did not work to build the ark then he would have been condemned along with all the disobeyers. Moses believed God, but if he did not do what God told him, then the history of the Israelites would have had a very different and unfortunate outcome. The woman with the issue of blood believed, but if she did not act and press through to touch the hem of Jesus then she would have received nothing inspite of her belief.

Eloy, I just about spit out my iced tea that was in my mouth when I read your post. I couldn't help myself from laughing so hard. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Soooooo since when is satan a believer? Believers follow Jesus and they do what He says to do. Forgive, show mercy, turn the other cheek. Give and it shall be given to you, etc. Does satan do that? NO he doesn't.

And why do you respect him so much that you use a capital S at the beginning of his name?

Your response to my response has nothing to do with what I was waying. YOU brougbht satan up, why's that? To make what point? except to make me chuckle, thanks for that.

Such nonesense Eloy. Where will it end? You now want everyone to believe that Satan was a believer in Christ but since he didn't do any good works, he will not be saved. Just plain nonesense. Of judgment and God, Right. Well judge this.
The lord said:
Joh 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

It must be true, because he said:
Joh 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go, but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

Then he added. See if this is clear?
Joh 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh, I judge no man.

And added!
Joh 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

Don't see it, right!

1Pe 4:17 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Judgment begins with those who claim to be Christians. Actions show our faith. So we are judged by our beliefs but if their is no action there is no belief.

Eloy, you have it backwards - believers are saved, unbelievers are judged.

If I'm a believer and I don't get many souls saved, but Love the Lord with ALL of my heart and I pray alot, but don't get out there and witness to people, how will God judge me? I also feed the hungry, but don't witness on a regular basis, so how will I be judged?

You can be a DOER of the word and have Empty works. Meaning your doing works but your heart isn't right towards the Lord, amen?
---Donna on 2/17/10

I dont think you'll be judge by God.
Why should he? You are guilty already, that a fact.

Will you be judge, for believing in Christ?
Why should you? You all believe, right!

Think about the things you should be judge for.
Then forgive each other, for those things.
For we are all equally guilty! This too is a fact.

While it is today! Find forgiveness in your heart.
God bless!

The word is very specific on what we will be judged on.

John 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not judged, he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God".

We are judged on the basis of our belief in Jesus.

Beyond that, we will be judged for what we did in this body,

2 Cor 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad"

Judged By Beliefs Or Actions

Lets see... those who are ready for the marriage with the Lamb with have there lamps full of oil ( the truth). The ones who are not ready will have to got get oil, and then it will be to late. I think that sums up the marriage parable. It saddens me when I take this parable and other verses and realize that only half of the professing Christians make it.(i.e. 5 brides of ten with the oil, one shall be taken one left,so on.) You shall know them by there fruits ( Beliefs and Actions). May the Light of the LAMB guide your way always. PEACE

Your actions reflect what you truly believe.
Pro 23:7b For as he (man) thinketh in his heart, so is he:

God does not need to choose by which criteria He will judge... either ACTIONS or BELIEFS, since actions are the product of belief... and He has perfect understanding of both.

We, with our incomplete understanding, are the ones who see contradiction between the two. We can observe actions, but we can only know what people believe by what they tell us. People claim any number of beliefs, but most of us follow the the old adage "actions speak louder than words"

There is nothing to critique. The author made a statement that he/she obviously believes to be true, and I will not criticize that belief.
One's habitual words and actions reflects one's belief.
Personally, 'I' believe "the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son." 'I' believe that the Son "did not come to judge the world but to save the world." And that "He who rejects [Him], and does not receive [His] words, has that which judges him, the word that [He has] spoken, [and the same] will judge him in the last day." Refs. SOLD by the lying ministers all they must do is believe on Christ let his name fall from their lips and all they do will be "covered" by his blood ...which is why many continue to live IN their sins never seeking Truth just blindly following the perverted WORDS of men who have twisted scripture to serve and practice their lawlessness Luke 6:46 ..in effect blindly following men as hearers doing as they please Prov 14:12, 16:25 rather doers of Gods Word James 1:22

I agree with Cluny 2/11/10.

The question seems to assume that the two--belief, actions--are separate theological concepts. The western mind has done this.

In Hebrew thinking, the two were not conceived as being separated. One needs to keep that in mind when reading the scriptures.

Back to the question, our actions are based on our beliefs. God looks on the heart, not on our minds as being separate from our hearts.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou will be saved," is a very simple Statement. If we put our trust in Christ for our lives we will have eternal life. Do you really believe something if you don't act on that belief?
Isn't that what Paul meant by "I am persuaded?"

To not act is simply to accept something intellectually, but true believers, including pagans, are compelled to act on what they believe. True belief compels action by both the diciple and the terrorist.

Cluny,

Outside of any theological sense I can't possible imagine functioning in a world in which the two were not connected. I believe if I walk I'll be somewhere else than where I am. That of course is direct and immediate. Non-immediate reward requires considerably more 'belief'. Treating others well because we believe we and the rest of the world will be better off is an action beased on belief that is not immediately provable or observable. But we all do it all the time.

Think about this:

Who says that belief (faith) and actions (works) are intrinsically opposed?
---Cluny on 2/11/10

Mima, can one separate their beliefs from their actions?? truly speaking that is??

You are what you eat. If you eat Christ flesh and drink his blood, you are consuming and consumed with the very life of Christ in you.

If you eat and drink soap operas, you will be consumed with the life of Erica and who ever she's having issues with!

If you eat Joseph Smith, you will be consumed with Joseph Smith to the point of letting him be your example, following his every word.

If you eat John Calvin, you will be consumed to the point of letting him be your example and life following his every word and actions.

You are what you eat!

Some will have no works so will lose their rewards. Bible is clear that some do not work. As far as salvation goes, we are saved by grace through faith..period. There are some that will even be turned over to Satan for the "distruction of the flesh for the salvation of the soul". Sobering thought if you are living a sinful lifestyle after accepting Jesus Christ as saviour.

For 'god' to judge us by our beliefs would require : You know when I sit down and when I rise up, you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. (Psalms 139: 2,3)

But: you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deut. 13.3)

So the Bible seems to be completely contradictory on this matter.

Cluny:

Yes, and also note that in Matthew 25, the sheep believe that they are not saved (yet they are), while the goats believe they are saved (yet are not). Their rewards are according to their works, and CONTRARY to their faith!

Regardless, our actions are shaped by our beliefs, so our visible actions give evidence of our invisible beliefs.

James 2:18
"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works."

Both faith and actions are important and Christ talked about both. In the parable of the Talents, the master gives his servants specific amounts of money before he goes on a journey of some duration. Upon his return he summons his servants to see what they have done with their master's money. Two provided return on investment to the master while one hid the money and did nothing with it. That servant was ostracized and the money taken from him and given to the first servant who provides the most return to the master.

This shows that God does care what we do with the resources and abilities that have been provided to us and we will be evaluated on our effectiveness in accomplishing God's plan for our lives.

Earl, I understand that not just the judgment passed on to us, from Adam. But we have all become infected by "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience" (Ephesians 2:2). And the judgment is for how we have gone along with this spirit in our S elfishness- I nfected N ature.

Mima . . . Regina got it right (c:

But we have 2 Samuel 1:1-16 > the man who killed Saul was executed, though he maybe *believed* he was helping Saul. But our intentions-beliefs can make what is technically illegal acceptable. It is illegal to go into a house and take somebody else's house, in the middle of the night. But, if the house is on fire, our belief that we are rescuing the kids makes it not kidnapping (c:

What does Matthew 25 say? Notice that the faith of neither the sheep nor goats are questioned.

Wrong! According to the Bible:

Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God, thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
