Sow A Seed Ministry Biblical

Many "SO CALLED MINISTRIES" tell people if they want to receive a blessing from God, they need to "SOW A SEED" or send money to their ministry. Is this Biblical?

Moderator - It is one of the false doctrines of the Word of Faith movement.

"Is this Biblical?" No.

"He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart, Who hath not lifted up his soul unto falsehood, And hath not sworn deceitfully. 'He shall receive a blessing' from Jehovah, And righteousness from the God of his salvation." Psa. 24 :4,5 ASV

However it is nice to "sow" into your own church with tithing to help.

The Biblical tithe is NOT sowing. GIVING is sowing. There is a HUGH difference between the Biblical tithe and giving.

The Biblical tithe was a PAYMENT, not a gift, was REQUIRED of the Israelites, and consisted ONLY of crops and animals - FOOD, NO money, and NOT from income.

The Biblical tithe ENDED at the cross per Hebrews 7:5,12,18.

Giving a tenth of your income to the church is NOT giving or paying the Biblical tithe, nor is it giving to God.

\\Cluny...I believe Oral Roberts got it from a man whose last name was Kenyon.

IN any case, there's a very old Christian writing called the DIDCHE that says that if a wandering prophet says to give money to someone, then listen to him.

But if this prophet says to give money to HIMSELF, he's a false prophet.

Do I hear an Amen?

No, it's not biblical. However it is nice to "sow" into your own church with tithing to help. God still answers you reguardless of tithing or not.

If you were one of these prosperity ministers, and you actually believed by sending a $1,000 you would get $7,000 in return, wouldn't you send $1,000 to everyone you know? You wouldn't ask for a $1,000 you would give a $1,000

---KarenD you are correct it was a man named Kenyon. Years ago I bought a small private library from a hospital chaplain and in that library, which I have just given away, Was the entire set of Kenyon books. He died in 1948 but his books can still be ordered from his daughter who lives somewhere in the state Washington.

\\It is a horrific false doctrine that someone started probably many a zillions of years ago.\\

I think Oral Roberts was the first to popularize it, at least in my lifetime.

It is a horrific false doctrine that someone started probably many a zillions of years ago.

Jesus said, Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and runneth over. He wasn't referring to ONLY money. Give your love to others, food, clothing, mercy, forgiveness, show kindness, etc.,
Money can be included in this, but I don't think Jesus's main point was money.

Why store up your treasures upon earth where moth and rust destroy?

I give because the bible says God loves a cheerful giver and I love to bless people. Period. I don't expect anything back.

My God SHALL supply all of my needs according to his riches in Glory in Christ Jesus.

If I did do such as like give a $1000.00 to a ministry, & if I didn't receive a blessing as such like they say 7 fold or none at all, I'd be knocking on their door asking for my $1000.00 back Plus $6000.00 for their lies to me. $7000.00 that's a complete number, like the #7 being a complete number with God.

the verses these ministries use ARE in the bible. the MOST COMMON VERSES are
malachi 3:10
'seek ye the kingdom of god & all of these shall be added unto you
you are robbing god.
100 hundred fold Luke 18:29-30

if you really want to know watch Creflo dollars interview with CNN.

it is biblical but it is how they use these verses that is questionable.
the bible is subject to interpretation by many who exploit & pervert it. that is why many stumble obey blindly.

finally, their prepared statement is 'ye lack faith' if the sow a seed does not work for them
---mike on 4/6/10

the most common verse I hear is Malachi 3:10 & the tithe.

most of the time pastors say that after you give your 10% to god, he will open the doors of heaven that you will not have room to contain it.

or they will say that god will give back 100 fold return

Not at all Biblical. When Jesus gave the parable of sowing seeds he explained it afterwards. He was talking about the seed of witnessing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was not talking about money. But, I guess many televangelists think they know more than Jesus. They can answer this question on judgment day.
---KarenD on 4/6/10

I've noticed that these seed faith preachers always say that their wallets are the fields you're supposed to sow your dollars to.

If they really believed it themselves, they would not be holding onto a single penny, but THEY THEMSELVES would be sowing their receipts to other ministries.
