Why should the true Christian ever want to take revenge on their enemies. I mean, what can we really do, other than sticking our tongue out at them when they are not looking, of course, or you would be consider rude and crude. But, now, God, He is all-powerful and He knows how to do the job....Rest for sure, your enemies are God's enemies, and rest for sure, God shall take revenge against His enemies. One other thing, it is no work for God to do what He and He alone can do. On the other hand, if we tried taking revenge against our enemies, well, now, that is just too much work involved in all of that. Makes me tired to think about it.

Godliness is Godlikeness. Search all the characteristics of God. That's Godliness.

godliness is like jesus.
so be specific. he is holy, he did not sin, did not have worldly possessions.
where is the line between being like jesus & ascesticism.
even if christianity profess to be relationship, there is some form of asceticism.
practice of self denial, need for atonement & wish to earn merit in order to live or be called a life of godliness.

"What is godliness?"
Having or displaying an awe inspired attitude of reverence for the Father that is shown through an empowered performance of the duties or principles expected or required of Him. I:E "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. You shall love your neighbor as yourself." A love the is shown in actions. Food shared with the hungry, a home shared with the homeless, Clothing given to those who are lacking, visiting the sick and shut in, giving without expectations from the recipient, etc. In short, Godliness is giving. That "mystery" revealed through Jesus, "God so love the world that He gave..."

Typo correction to prior post. This line, "A love "the" is shown in actions" should of course read, "A love "that" is shown in actions"

Few measures of goliness have been as misused as WWJD.(What would Jesus do?).
Even those who never read the Bible claim to know what Jesus would or wouldn't do! Those who know Him are not much better, because we can only guess what Jesus would do in most complex situations.
The Bible does give a good description.:
Gal 5:22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Well, Leslie simplified things. Somewhat. Acting like Jesus. Do we really know enough about the man Jesus God came in the flesh....We have so many hypocrites, today. Imitating Jesus..... You may not like what I write or agree with what I say, but, I come in the name of the "Lord". I have a testimony, a Blood bought one. Hallelujah I have escape really escaped, hallelujah from hell. Oh my Lord, Oh my Lord, Ha, Ha.

Catherine: It's me again and I've got Biblical definition of "Godliness".
1Tim3:16 "....great is the mystery of godliness:God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory"
1Tim4:8"...but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is ,and of that which is to come"

In today's world a lot of people have knowledge, but, no wisdom. Lets pray for wisdom. It is so lacking in this world. If I have a choice between wisdom and knowledge, I would hope that I would choose wisdom. God's wisdom. And obeying God is godly and is the wise thing to do. You might be surprise at His answers, if you will just pray. That's it.

Thank you for making that so perfectly clear...

THEY USUALLY TIED THE PRISONER to a low pillar so that His back was bent forward. This type of punishment would leave deep gashes, often exposing the bones..... The physical suffering in those final three hours on the cross was bad enough, but the Lord also endured continuous insults and mockery by those who observed....So, what is godliness, Christ-like? I believe that we miss the mark. And miss it grossly. How come? Because, we are not Jesus Christ. He was perfect, we are not.

Godliness is acting like Jesus, NOT the devil.
