Way to go Henry. I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was 8. I was always in the choir & helped wherever needed, but didn't find that personal relationship until I was about 24. I wish I had realized earlier.

Thanks, Henry, for your testimony AND your Honesty. I hope it will be helpful to more than one person who reads it.

As a former self deceived person, I can answer your question. I started preaching when I was 14 years old, & did so until I was 38 years old. One church service I just had to make sure I was saved, and I answered the invitaional call. I was just attending that night.
After talking with the associate pastor for 3.5 hours, I had to accept God's Way of salvation, and surrender my wicked heart over to HIM, and HIM alone. I up to that time was relying on my heart and righteousness to take me to Heaven, even though I preached it by Christ alone. Look up Jer. 17:9. That vs. shouted at me. I realized I was deceiving myself and NOT trusting Christ alone.

When dealing with most Christians that talk a mixed-up Gospel even if it involves the Blood of Jesus Christ, I find myself leaving the conversation. That is, why would I want to talk with a self-righteous "Christian" that speaks of the Blood but refuses to cover himself/herself with it?

//(unless you have someone like atheist who sticks around just harrass Christians.) ... It's easy to be a critic online.//

FYI - You (plural) give him the power.

aka joseph its apparent the the many were focused solely on themselves, never doing anything for anyone.
---tom2 on 6/16/10

Reba --- I like your answer. "Strict" can be totally without mercy. "Holy" includes both compassion and justice.

Mima- Your "test" is practically foolproof... (unless you have someone like atheist who sticks around just harrass Christians.) But most critics are not likely to stay and personally face Christians. It's easy to be a critic online.

Also, I like your description of being saved from drowning. Though we don't go just by feelings in our relationship with the Lord, there are still some things that are very hard to describe. If being saved feels like being rescued from drowning...maybe it's because that's what it is, saved from drowning in sin.
---Donna66 on 6/15/10

In the same way that a drowning person knows that they are no longer drowning, but is rescued from drowning and is now upon solid ground.
---Eloy on 6/15/10

Yes God Is strict. You canNot serve 2 masters willingly, 1 foot in for God & the other foot in for the devil & his worldly pleasures because it says here, 1st John 2 v's 15 - 16.

Choose you today whom you will serve.
---Lawrence on 6/15/10

I don't consider God strict, He's Holy. I feel there's a big difference between the 2. Strict sounds as though He expects us to be as good as He is & God knows that's not possible for humans. God's Holiness is what makes it impossible for Him to accept sin in our lives. That's the whole reason for our need for a saviour. But He is just as merciful so He gives us assurance of our salvation when we accept Christ as our saviour. The ones who say "Lord,Lord we done mighty works in your name..." were turned away because they NEVER accepted Christ as their saviour. They depended on their good works to get them into heaven. Had they really wanted NO surprises... they could have!! That's what's considered,WILLINGLY IGNORANT!!
---Reba on 6/14/10

It was meant to say, God Is strict, & He Is.

The Man-made relig-org's churches beginning with the rcc & then her offspring churches trying to serve God with 1 foot in for God & the other foot in for the devil & his devilish worldly pleasures he has to offer.
You canNot serve 2 masters.

Again God Is strict.
---Lawrence on 6/14/10

Lawrence how does your statement,"You better wake because Is strict."
---Lawrence on 6/14/10
stack up against this statement,John 6:37,"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."
---mima on 6/14/10

Here is a little test you can perform to uncover those who are living in self- deception.
When talking with a group of people begin to discuss the blood of Jesus Christ. When you do so those living in self-deception, those who are not truly Christian will begin to find excuses to leave the group. They will make a direct effort to leave. And they will never offer to speak about the blood of Jesus Christ. Have seen this work many times.

1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

When God flashed HELL right in front of me and said, "that is where you are going if you don't get forgiveness of ALL your sins". Well, I knew that I didn't want to go to hell. So God initiated A SINNERS PRAYER. Then I felt His Blood running up me from toe to head and I felt so clean inside as if I had never, ever, done anything wrong in my life. And a great relief came over me a great sigh because I knew that my final destiny was taken care of.

You are saved by Faith in God. You have repented of your sins, turned from your sinful ways and have given your heart over to God.

Jesus said, you shall know them by their fruit. Are you praying? Are you asking the Lord to develop the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life? Love, peace, joy, kindness, patience, self-control, etc.

Are you studying the bible and doing what the word says to do? Forgiving your enemies, giving, turning the other cheek, praying at all times, worshipping Jesus and Father God, Entering His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with Praise.

I asked the Holy Spirit one time, how do I know Romans Chapter 8 pertains to me? He said, "you're reading it and believing it, right?"
---Donna5535 on 6/14/10

The Bible says, "His spirit will witness with our spirit" like all Christians I know I have that witness.

Tom2, God is a merciful & just God. He gives everyone a chance to accept Him before they die. The ones who are "surprised" they didn't make it had the same rules for salvation as everyone else. The ones who are depending on their good works to gain salvation & entrance into Heaven are the ones who are rejected and sent to hell. Without accepting the blood of Jesus Christ as payment for our sins, no amount of good works or deeds will get you to heaven. To say they didn't know till it was too late isn't completely true. They may be surprised their way wasn't good enough to get them there, but God has made it crystal clear what is required for salvation.

Who were the 'many' focusing on? Who was the thief focusing on?

Those that are living self-deception believing in 2-3 god's & or persons in a g-head, don't believe you don't have to go to Church to be saved & stay saved, stay at home (I'm not talking about those that are Un-able to get out due to phy's prob's & ill health etc), watch-listen to the tv-radio ministers only, listening to False teachings once saved always saved, the sinners prayer etc, giving to prosperity ministry's, flirt with the devilish pleasures of the world & thinking your okay & God don't care.
You better wake because Is strict.

"How do you know that you are saved and not someone living in self deception?"
Donnie, because the Father has given me to trust, as in a firm acceptance as agreeing with facts, what I have been given to believe is His Word. I simply have no doubt in regard to His honesty, Justice, and Power. Salvation is of Him through the LORD Jesus, The Christ, The Truth, The Way, and The Life. By 'Faith', an unwavering confidence in Him, I can know that I have been saved, and will be redeemed. Read and meditate upon 1John 5:9-13. That you may also know that you may have, present tense, Eternal life. For "this is eternal life, that [you] may know [Him], the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom [He] has sent." John 17:3

donnie,if you read matthew 25 31 thru 46, its evident at the judgement seat of christ there will be those who arent aware they are not saved, and believe they are,and to those who dont believe it pay particular attention to verse 46,and those shall go away into EVERLASTING PUNISHMENT.

Just this very morning I have told a 60 year old lady{neighbor visiting} about the fact that three different times in the Bible it says," For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
She listened to me carefully, I then asked her did she want to follow me in a prayer wherein she who would be calling on the name of the Lord. Yes she said, I do.
After we prayed and we talked a little more she said to me, oh thank you so much for telling me what to do".
Did she get saved? Before we said the prayer she talked about being good and doing good. After we said the prayer she understood she had done what the Bible says do and was extremely happy!!!!
