my favorite bible verse since my beloved father died is Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
this assures me that whatever is my circumstances right now-God is there for me.God is my constant companion.

my favorite bible verse, Rev.12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death. it is the blood of Jesus the thrive 'n force why I am here and why still I am alive today! And it is becuz the love to Jesus and the power of his blood sacrifice he made himself the atonement for my sins so I lift up Jesus the master it may cost me give up my life if need be for the name of Jesus be glory to His name! As I am no longer my own I am a slave lovingly to Christ.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

If we truly seek the righteousness of God, we will have no lack of ANY worldly necessity. But, we will never be granted any righteousness by demanding our right to sin in violation of God's Ten Commandment Law.

"Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched [Mark 9:4, Isa. 66:24].

I've got one, I've got one. in John 4:23-24>>>But, an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. These Scriptures Jesus is saying, it does not matter where you worship as long as you know God and God knows you. He won't hold it against you if you choose not to go to church, as long as it is God's choice....This is one of my favorites, because, I have been criticized and crucified, and judged, IN THIS. Something that God did. WOE, TO YOU.

Zechariah 3:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan, even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: [is] not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Exodus 15:3 The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name.

Philippians 2:11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Francis:

Even though Jesus and the Father are "one", they are NOT "one and the same". Mary did not give birth to the Father. The Holy Spirit did not die on the cross. The Apostles were not filled with Jesus at pentecost. Jesus was not schizophrenic - he did not pray to himself. People saw Jesus but no one has seen the father, etc.

Trav:

"abomination" is an accusation (which may or may not be true). "Obamanation" is mockery.

Jesus told us to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. I consider his words to be important. I can understand it if you consider your hatred to be more important than what Jesus explicitly commanded us to do, but I don't.

My favourite Bible verses can be found in John 3: 14-15. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness..... This passage leads to a peaceful life free from all worldly bondages. It is the plain truth from God.

I WAS OPERATING UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT JESUS IS GOD, AND THAT HE AND HIS FATHER ARE ONE.

"and if I go to prepare for you a place, I am coming again and will receive you to myself, that where I am, you all may be also." Jn.14:3. What a great joy to know, that Jesus is coming again to take us home to be with him for ever.

...Obama's name is not "Obamanation".
Jesus never told people to "pray against the wicked Caesar" but he DID, explicitly, tell them to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's". ...---StrongAxe on 8/2/10

Proverbs 17:15
He that justifieth the wicked, he that condemneth the just, they both are ABOMINATION to the LORD.

You render/bow to your Caesar. I expect no less.
BTW, he is one, an a supporter of Abominations in scripture. Sacrificing Children by Abortion, and documented supporter of all Perversion/Homo/sodomy. Hmmmm. Yes abamanation fits.
Ahhh,here's another one.
Proverbs 12:22
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
---Trav on 8/3/10

Trav:

President Brack Obama's name is not "Obamanation". To call him this is not truth (especially since this is not even an English word). It is mockery, plain and simple.

And I say again - Jesus never told people to "pray against the wicked Caesar" but he DID, explicitly, tell them to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's". You may read between the lines, but I prefer to read what the actual lines actually say.

francis:

That wasn't answering my question: How many times did Jesus teach us to hate our enemies and seek vengeance upon them?
1 Samuel and Joshua are in the OLD testament.

In the New Testament, before his crucifixion and ascencion, how many people did Jesus kill? How many unrighteous sinners did he call fire down from heaven and incinerate? How many people did he tell his apostles to kill?

Did he tell us to call down vengeance on our enemies, or to forgive our enemies?

Trav:
Jesus did not tell people to mock him or disobey him ----StrongAxe on 8/2/10

Mock? Disobey? Truth is now mocking. Praying about evil is Disobedience?

Your quandry is you love this guy, like a prostitute, he winked his eye at you and you'd follow him anywhere. You'll just overlook the sodomite, abortion thingy's. You call evil good and good things evil.

Psalm 119:104
Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
94.Psalm 139:21
Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

Be disobedient as David was, pray Psalm 109, for our country and kids, not aborted or perverted yet.

How many times did Jesus teach us to hate our enemies and seek vengeance upon them? You can find teachings like that in the Qur'an but not in the Bible.

[is] the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man.
1 Samuel 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
Joshua 6:21 And they utterly destroyed all that [was] in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

Joshua 6:24 And they burnt the city with fire, and all that [was] therein:

It's all in the bible, what makes one verse more prefered than another? Maybe if one spend a lot of time in the military, the scriptures on killing the enemy has an apeal.

Also, remember that even though Caesar was doing MUCH more horrible things to Christians than any U.S. president has ever done, Jesus did not tell people to mock him or disobey him - he said "render unto Caesar's what is Caesar's".

Trav:

I could take that seriously if you (or any other Christians in the US for that matter) were being persecuted.

Christians in Muslim countries and communist countries are experiencing much persecution and even martyrdom these days, but we who live in the west have it extraordinarily easy. You don't like how Obama runs things? Too bad. At least he isn't throwing you out of your home, parading you through the streets in chains, burning you at the stake or feeding you to lions. If these things were happening, you would have a legitimate grievance to invoke Romans 8:36 and Revelation 6:10. Otherwise, whining about being a martyr because a party you don't like is in power and doing things you don't agree with seems extremely petty.

Yes, I know that you didn't write it, that it is in the Bible. But why, as a Christian, do you prefer scriptures about judgment and vengeance, rather than ones about love and forgiveness?
---StrongAxe on 7/30/10

Same reason Christ does. Unjust Persecution for trying to do the right thing.
Romans 8:36
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Revelation 6:10
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

i DID NOT WRITE IT. I DID NOT INSPIRE IT TO BE WRITTEN
AND DID GOD NOT SAY ALL SCRIPTURE ...
MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD BUT BY EVERY WORD?

Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

My favorite verse is Isaiah 1:18
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

atheist, does your misapplication also apply to atheists? In other words, should we be the first to lay our hands upon the atheists and slay them for being our enemies? or should we instead obey God, whom tells us to, Love others as we want others to love us, and to Love the strangers, and to Love our enemies"?

Simple salvaton message

1 Cor.15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand, 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

John 14:21
"He that has My commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves Me, and he that loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him."

Why?
Because in it, Jesus tells us why God chooses the Few.
It also shows those who teach that the favor of God is unmerited, do not worship the Lord in Truth.
---David on 7/21/10

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers, Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth, Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him, neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him, thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death. "And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven." Lk.7:48. And the reason why this is one of my favorite verses is because in this passage, Lk.7:37-50, I realized exactly who Jesus is, and like the woman I too fell down upon my knees and I cried to Jesus to save me: "And the reclined company began to say in themselves, Who stands this, who even forgives sins?" Lk.7:49.

These two are mine!

Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Why?
Because, these words are faithful and true!
And you really dont need anything to understand them!
After all! You really dont have anything, do you? If not from God!

Rom 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May God Bless You

there are many verses which bring comfort, and joy to my heart, those especially in regards to the promises God has made to those who would believe. I enjoy them so much, but, the words of christ.the parables he taught are so profound, and convict the heart, and spirit, and change the lives of people are my favorites.I agree that the message is the entire word, and as a mature christian I realize that this is the message from God,the entire ministry of his son,and the witness after his death ,resurection, and ascension.the new testament must be read as a whole.

My favorite passage of scripture is found in Galatians 2:15-21.

Regardless of hard we try to keep the LAW, we can't. That is why I am so THANKFUL FOR GOD'S GRACE, and the SACRIFICE CHRIST MADE ON THE CROSS FOR MY SINS.
---Rob on 7/19/10

Scripture was meant to be read in the full context in which it was written. It was not written to have individual verses extracted from it as it prostitutes the meaning of scripture scripture.

There are book and chapters of books that I enjoy more then others, about the smallest segment I would work with is a thought packet referencing a topic in total.

Knowing how to find thing in the Bible is far more important than the memorization of single verses of scripture as it accomplishes nothing Godly and contributes to bad habits.

My favorite verse is found in the gospel of Mark 9:23, "And Jesus said unto him, 'If thou canst! ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM THAT BELIEVTH'" (Caps are mine of emphasis.) Being a Christian for over 50 years, and a missionary for 32, I done too many things and have seen too many things that are only possible through the Lord's strength & guidence. (Bible translation was the Amrican Standard Bible.)

"I am gentle and humble in heart" because those were the first words/scripture that the Holy Spirit spoke to me after I got the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

and

"For the Father Himself loves you" because I asked God "do you love me? Do you really really truly love me?"

and

Psalm 25:10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful. When I was waiting for a husband, and would see couples together, I'd hurt because I was all alone and the Lord spoke Psalm 25:10 to me every day until I got blessed with a husband.
