Keep going if you like. Everyone one above is demonstratable. Your name...a little cut descriptive (forgive) but,be ur name "Strong-Axe". Your defense for ur causes are unsupported and for the indefensible.

barry: Is an obomination, supporting gays and killing newborns. hmmmm.
Tal-mudd: Describes Jesus as born of a prostiture, the father Pandera a Roman soldier. The book belongs in the mud.
Take your AXE and use it defending the GOOD, not the depraved.

Trav said, ...are you against the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel?"
No, you are. Israel does not have anything as of yet, and only those who are of the Seed will be saved.
---Bob on 8/19/10

One subject at a time.
Judah, has established nothing.....since Christ. Salvation or physical blessings. They enjoy blessings that the "Saved Lost Sheep,Christian Israel" has been getting. For appx 2,000 years.
70+ sciptural blessings that "Christians" have fullfilled in scripture. 70+.
Yet, you assume, because we were taught that judah....represents, equals all Israel.
Scripture does not say this. Why do you believe it?
---Trav on 8/21/10

I read where you mentioned it was ok for all the Jews to die in WW2. Some how to you they deserve to be burned. You also said, you had two witnesses. ---Bob on 8/19/10

markv, twisted/spun this just a little, when he got into scriptural trouble....like he habitually does.
But, again this event didn't happen on my watch. Perhaps it happened on yours or your fathers?
"IF they were "UN-repentant" ANTI-CHRIST's like they are today. Should I honor them? GOD WILL SORT THIS OUT, VENGENCE IS HIS. He will sort MINE,YOURS etc.
He understands marks weaknesses.....and unscripturally rebukable character. So Christ will deal with his lies also......
He will deal with my shorcomings and yours too.

\\By this act we got the inquisition and the crusades\\

Were it not for the Crusades, you've be writing in Arabic and praying 5 times a day towards Mecca.

As for the Inquisition, Protestant England and other European countries killed Roman Catholics simply because of their faith.

Furthermore, in colonial British America, those who were not members of the official church of the colony, or otherwise dissented from it, had no civil rights.

What law? Can you be specific?

Can you tell us exactly what happened as the result of that law?

What's the significance of 364 AD?

Trav..I am interested in the truth and in sharing the truth (and also in learning it -
I'm more concerned that you make a habit of insulting many people (because that indicates a cynical un-Christ-like attitude)---StrongAxe on 8/18/10

Name my insults. I'll address and repent...if scripturally untrue. Everyone of them.
Am I against anti christ....yes. You should be too....and would if you were informed.
I really don't care if the enemies of Christ are insulted. GOD's enemies are my enemy's. They should be yours too.
Psalm 54:5
He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.
Proverbs 16:7
When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Yeah, I know.

Trav:

I take the time to comment on posts that require scriptural answers (whether because they are asking questions, or making statements that are at variance with scriptures), and I do so because I am interested in the truth and in sharing the truth (and also in learning it - I admit I'm not omniscient). I don't comment here primarily to inflate my ego, nor to lash out in anger when it is bruised. I'm more concerned that you make a habit of insulting many people (because that indicates a cynical un-Christ-like attitude) than that I feel some kind of affront because you insult me personally.

Reminds me of you two talking about me. Listen fellow Christ followers...
Israel is the Bible. The covenants are posted in scripture....everlasting, for ever...Heb 8:8/Jer 31:31.
To be a light to the rest of the world. So you want what Israel has... are you against the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel? Who Christ came for? Matt 15:24.
By the way, I'm very much for the "eklesia" assembling. The pretty denominational marketing boxes today are not necessarily it.
---Trav on 8/18/10

Bob:

I too ask people to show two witnesses (for example, if they can't cite chapter and verse, then they should at least show some respected authorities that believe as they do) but I don't call people names if they disagree with me. I freely admit that I can be wrong on many things (unlike many here). People shouldn't take my word for things - they should check them out for themselves (which is easier to do if I cite chapter and verse, or some other authorities).

I WILL point it out if they are claiming something that directly contradicts the Bible (and I will show exactly where) but even then, I don't accuse them of being apostates, heretics, unsaved, etc. as some here do.

Truth, should never be an insult.

I care enough about you to possibly waste my time.

StrongAxe, my point exactly. Trav is only interested in Israel, hoping that he is one of the elect. And all his arguments are against the Church in general. He claims the whole Bible is for Israel. He must have missed half of it. He missed the part that says that only by the grace of God can anyone be saved, and it is through faith in Jesus Christ, not only for the Jew but also for the Gentile. And when you answer him he gets all push out of shape and ask you for two witnesses. And then calls you all kinds of stuff, does that not remind you of someone else?
---Bob on 8/18/10

Trav:

Using insults does not save time. It shows the person using them is not capable of rational discussion, but instead stoops to childish name-calling - or he is not confident about his points so he seeks to distract others by goading them to anger.

Sanhedrin 55a makes perfect sense. It is much legalese about a specific biblical prohibition. The Bible frequently contains brief laws "Thou shalt not..." but these have more complex ramifications (i.e. what specific circumstances invoke the law? what punishments should be given? etc.) This is the meat and drink of lawyers.

Christian writings thorough the ages also contain many volumes that try to interpret the exact meanings of many pieces in the Word of God.

The jews would like for it too. Their perverted wisdom has caused them much grief.
What they try to hide in these 63 volumes can be found and should be by any sincere Christian wanting to understand their "cousins". If they are really "cousins".
You for instance, probably are unaware or you would not/could not as a Christian uphold the Anti-Christ sentiments found and the perversions of laws and truth.

As far as the Talmud being hidden from Christians, you can go into any Jewish book store and get a copy. There is no hiding or subterfuge here.

If you don't like some of the things the Talmud says, how about some of the things in the Bible that are just as harsh?

Hosea 13:16
"Samaria shall become desolate, for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up."

atheist, The Lord God Jesus has created two everlasting abodes: one place is heaven, and the other place is hell. And after the temporal life on earth every single soul according to their works will go to abide for ever either into the paradise of heaven, or else into the torments of hell. "The Lord is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any rightly perish, but that all should come to repentance. For I do not desire the death of the one who dies, says the Lord Yhwh, so turn and live you all."
---Eloy on 8/14/10

ger.toshav:

The word "fundamentalist" is now used in a very different context than it had when it was first coined. It originally meant someone who believed in the basic Christian fundamentals (the divinity of Jesus, the virgin birth, etc.). Now, however, it usually refers to people of extreme beliefs, regardless of whatever those beliefs are (Christian fundamentalists, Muslim fundamentalists, etc.), and is almost always used in a negative context.

Well of course, why didn't we think of that! It's the Christians fault.

The tal-mudd is still taught by and to edomites, the sadducee's and pharisees of Christ day. Esau is Edom. The tal-mudd is the Bible of the jews today.
I like this one, Midrash Talpioth fol.225d. Akum (non-Jews) were created for the sole end of ministering unto them (jews) day and night. Nor can they ever be relieved of this service. ...and animals in their humand form should minister unto him (jew).
---Trav on 8/13/10

To be fair, one must keep in mind that the Talmud is a work full of varying and often conflicting opinions of people writing over several hundred years. During those years the official Christian Church promulgated laws to deny Jews their rights, and mandating the death penalty for marrying a Jew or converting to Judaism. Had Jews simply been left in peace, their views of Christians would undoubtedly have been more ameliorative.

atheist, God is 100% totally innocent. He looked down from heaven and seen the fallen nature of man who do despite to each other, who stab each other in the back both with their words and actions, continually doing each other harm. So he came down to earth not to condemn man for their misbehavior to each other as he did in Sodom and Amorah's day, but he came down to save man from their inevitable self-destruction. He said, "Blessed are you if you do what I do, and talk what I talk, one to another." And he went about doing good, healing all manner of diseases, raising the dead, and speaking good: but the spiters mocked him, and took him and beat him, and spit on him, and nailed him up on a cross and killed him.

He sacrificed his life for you so that you can be saved, but he cannot force you to accept his payment for you. yes, "burning in hell" has benn twisted.

1) a soul or spirit is not physical, thus temperature is not a factor in their well being

2) Jesus is using a metaphor describing the spiritual pain and anguish one will feel when they find out that they have been eternally separated from the very Love that the NT describes. He uses Gehenna, which is a very familiar place to them at the time.

In the OT, you have no problem with the Lord cursing, plaguing, and killing His enemies, but there is a problem with eternal separation?
---aka on 8/12/10

Cluny, the very idea that a God described as Love in the New Testament would create humanity in His own image with the foreknowledge that He would have most of them burn in hell for all eternity is not only contradictory and absurd, but shows the extreme cruelty of those who invented such a teaching. It is not possible really to love a God like that....

Unfortunately, who gets to decide if something is heresy or not? Many Christian groups consider what other groups teach to be heresy (just look at all the arguments about baptism by dipping vs. immersion, for example).

I don't think anyone wants to the judges of heresy to be from someone else's denomination. And worse, if you want to criminalize it, the judgment must be made by someone the government has empowered to do so.

Look at how up in arms people get about letting government bureaucrats decide their health care. Would you want those same bureaucrats decide whether or not you should be burned at the stake for heresy?

If I believe the sky is wooden and the land is air, though this is heresy to Christianity, it is freedom to believe whatever a person chooses inspite of the truth. It would not be right to enforce marshal law agaionst people because they believe and profess in evident falsehood.

What is "criminal" is that people don't know God's Word good enough to put down heresy.

a document that will continue to be dismantled (started in Civil War days) until the noahide laws become the law of the land. Belief in Jesus Christ will become heresy. It will not only be a criminal offense, it will be a capital offense. ("capital" (Latin for caput) since the defendant could lose his/her head).

ger: This has already been tried. It was called the Dark Ages, and it's crowning achievement was the Inquisition. If you think that the wholesale murder of 100 million innocent people to appease some tyrant's definition of heresy is a good idea, then you may be onto something. Fortunately, for us in the USA, such establishment of religion by force of government is prohibited by our constitution.

Freedom of religious belief is granted by God. Why should man take that away?

Since heresy is so dangerous, shouldn't it be made a criminal offense? -----Blog Question

Christ died by this mindset. Prophets, saints apostles died for their heresy's. Many here and more out there (false preachers)kill or war-with the same truths they died for. It stands to reason they would kill the believer of truths again.....in a state of doctrinal/denominational bliss of course.
Revelation 18:24
And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Because regrettably it only works in Theocracies.

If you live in the United States, you might want to read an interesting document called "The United States Constitution." Skip the main part of it, and go to the Amendments. It is an interesting read. It has been in effect since 1787.

And who will be the civil authority to determine just what would be the criminal offense of heresy?

And by what standard?

Many people here frequently spout ancient Christological heresies.
