Chris: Your optimism may seem admirable but I am thinking that your love for your children and fear to watch them suffer a total economic crash has tainted your vision of what is happening. I say this as a warning of concern bc at some point you may be tested by being asked to take the "Mark of the Beast" which would put you in hell should you try to protect your loved ones by taking it. I truly empathize with where you are at. God is in control:)

Wayne: I think you're on to something. One cannot borrow himself out of debt!

I believe we are witnessing the purposeful destruction of America by enemies within our government at the hightest levels.

We (politicians etal) are throwing around numbers like "Trillions". A Trillion is a million millions. It is a one with 12 0's. A mere "billion" seems to be pennies! We owe China soooo much money that they own us. I do not see recovery in our future. A "one-world order/economy" is in the making. Once we see the rise of the anti-Christ, Christians will no longer be able to buy or sell for survival. That is, if they do not take the Mark of the Beast which I pray that believers will be strong enough to avoid. The exciting thing is that Jesus will come soon and end all of this evil.
---jody on 9/6/10

I see the progression towards One world order more and more every day more than I see recovery and if there is sudden peace, I guess we need to look for sudden destruction,

I guess being at home in this life is not a possibility for christians it's like there is no spiritual rest.

The end is nigh lol

This is a Depression, but we will get through it. Economics are cyclical.

My bigger concern is regarding the future of our middle class.
---Chris on 9/5/10

Why doesnt fiscal stimulus work? What it comes down to is that every dollar the government puts into the economy must first be taken out. To pay for their spending, politicians must raise taxes, print money, or borrow. Tax hikes hurt the economy at the best of times, but raising rates during a recession is widely acknowledged to be a bad idea. Printing money is not a good option either, because doing so would devalue the dollar and cause inflation. Again, this is widely agreed upon. That leaves borrowing, but every dollar borrowed by government is no longer available for private investment.

We are bordering on depression and everybody knows it...even government spokesmen who claim otherwise.
Obama, long time admirer of European economies, now has one of his own!

No "jobs bill" will help as long as American businessmen know that the president can personally fire a CEO or, with the swipe of a pen, destroy thousands of small businesses virtually overnight (as he did auto dealerships). He has a "job czar" whose duty it is to tell businesses what they must pay employees, what they may charge for products, or whether they can charge at all!

With the daily prospect of some unforeseen new business tax or regulation ...who will risk either hiring or investing? Wonder why the economy is frozen?

This country is in so much trouble. Not enough people in government asking God for advice. Too many "I wills", permeating our government, today. God is saying, "No you won't". I do not listen to men who professes to being a Christian, yet, never speaks of, "if God will it". Even if they did SAY IT, they must mean it. Our President should be a praying and staying out of lush vacation spots, And out of front covers of famous magazines. Good leaders do not seek fame and fortune. Good leaders love God and people.

I just heard BHO say we had wind energy plants poping up all over this country. Does anyone know where they are?
---wayne on 8/17/10

Sag, yes you're right. And I to wonder if the politicians know better or not. I think they are trying to crash the dollar. It takes 10 priviate sector jobs to pay taxes for 1 gov job. They are bleeding us dry.
---wayne on 8/16/10

On another blog, I pointed out that Minnesota Senator Michelle Bachman has made some rather "goofy" statements in the past.

One of her radio ads states that the government has spent over $3 TRILLION in stimulus money. Hmmm.

Where are the jobs? New businesses?

It looks like Michelle Bachman has gotten the message and is trying to inform us that the current debt spending just isn't working.

Our market-driven economy has created the best economic period in history. Now with increased communications the greed for cheap labor threatens to undermine America and all market-driven economies. Shortly we will see an attempt at a planned economy" socialism" but this is but a step down the ladder to chaos. The coming economic chaos will swallow America and the Americam people's freedom and strength in the world. As our nation cries out for strong leadership there is seemingly none to be found.
---mima on 8/13/10

Scary, but probably true!

If the USA goes to pieces, the rest of the world won't survive much longer.

The USA is a major consumer of exports from other nations: Oil, Produce, Finished Goods, etc.
---Augie on 8/13/10

Much of the current economic trouble is caused by it being TOO EASY to live off the Government. Why not? Some folks will say. It's Free.

Read 2 Thessalonians 3:10 If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat

Our nation is collapsing from the cost of providing all these so-called entitlement benefits.

Yes, people are worth spending money on. However, we should also be teaching them how to become productive people. Not leeches who live off the government.

No wonder businesses don't want to expand in the USA. They know that their taxes will go to subsidize the leeches in our society.

I think that most would agree that this tax and spend is not the answer. gov cannot create jobs as some have been lead to believe.
---wayne on 8/13/10

A LOT of politicians, at both the State and Federal Level, claim that more GOVERNMENT jobs are the answer to the USA's unemployment problem.

I wonder if these politicians realize that in order to have those additional GOVERNMENT jobs, there needs to be A LOT more PRIVATE sector jobs paying taxes to support those GOVERNMENT jobs.

It's anybody's guess as to when our nation's leaders will GET THE MESSAGE about what is really needed here. To solve the: debt / deficit spending, unemployment, taxation, entitlement, etc. problems.
---Sag on 8/13/10

I think that most would agree that this tax and spend is not the answer. gov cannot create jobs as some have been lead to believe. It's supply and demand and lower taxes that will do it. And yes there is a certain amount of greed that motivates people to open small business. We are on a fast track to disaster right now. The intitlement attitude is turning us into a third world country. I want what I work for and don't mind paying a fair tax. The gov doesn't have one penny unless they take it from us, and guess what? I'm TEA.

If everyone in the United States repented and turned to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob then God will bless it while the world falls apart.

Unfortunately, the US has turned away from God, it's in a moral decline and there is no way to stop it. End time prophesies are being fulfilled right before our eyes and is being compounded daily.

It's time for all christians to put on the full armor of God to protect themselves, their families and their friends from what is to come. Do an online KJV bible search for "one another," "each other," "comfort," and "encourag" because living a christian life is a 24/7 lifestyle not a once a week pep talk dished out by denominational "churches."

Catherine, I have disagreed with you on many things, but I agree with what you wrote on 8/11/10.

I have been in the work force for almost 40 years, but I can't even think about trying to retire.

I have a decent income, but it seems the more time passes, the harder it is to make ends meet.

This is sad because I have a modest lifestyle.
---Rob on 8/11/10

It depends on what you mean by "we".
American corporations just completed a records earnings season and they're sitting on a ton of cash and they are smart not to hire as they wait on demand.

Most of white America is in a recession, most of black and brown America is in a depression.
Unemployment rates for college grads of all colors is about 5%.

Vegas and South Florida housing markets are in near depression.

America is diverse and any complete answer will reflect this mosaic. Good question.

A recovery? You must be kidding. Watching the news tonight, everybody is losing their homes, it seems. A lot of people do not have health insurance. I suppose they will be fined, and they are already poor as dirt. A lot of people standing in line for food stamps. People are getting very angry, Some are fainting in such extremely long lines and it is very hot weather. Lots of police standing guard....Unemployment is way up there, I believe that it will go higher. The stock market was down over 200 points....I believe that we are in or near bout in a deep depression. God could help us, but not many are chosen.

We need to do what God is saying to do, Humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face, and TURN from our wicked ways, THEN He will hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land!!
---Donna5535 on 8/11/10

I'm sure that most of us know about what you wrote: God is more interested in getting people to REPENT than He is about the economy.

That is true. However, without a growing economy, and a steady stream of tax revenues flowing into the government coffers, the economy is heading for trouble.

That is needed to fund things like: Military, Churches, Schools, Social Security, etc.

Maybe God will just let things "get worse" until we actually wake up and see that we need to change our not-so-good ways.
---Sag on 8/11/10

The economy is NOT in recovery..there were 151,000 jobs lost in July.

1) God isn't interested in healing the economy as much as He's interested in Healing Hearts and getting people to REPENT.

2) During these hard times, yes we're in a recession, we need to do what God says to do in Second Chronicles Seven Fourteen, If my people, etc.,

3) We also need to live by, memorize, speak out, Psalm 91. The Lord told me a long time ago, "memorize Psalm 91 and it will become your provision during hard times."

We need to do what God is saying to do, Humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face, and TURN from our wicked ways, THEN He will hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land!!

The whole situation is DEPRESSING, my finances are RECEDING, and I don't see any recovery in sight. The Lord is still in control, and He will take care of His own, may the Lord be Praised!
---tommy3007 on 8/11/10

I agree with Augie and FDR.

Whatever the condition of our economy presently, I also believe it's in God's providence for us to revive and prosper.

Remember, St. Paul had his own economic woes, too. "I know how to be poor, and how to abound." It's in this context he said, "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me."

What does this question have to do with the Lord and growing in Him?
---Trish9863 on 8/11/10

After giving this question some thought, I think that it refers to the LEADERSHIP of our nation's [USA] Government, Companies, Churches, and each, and every one, of US too.

In one way or another, we're ALL responsible for the economic conditions in the USA. For example, I confess that I've purchased many products that were manufactured in other countries: clothes, electronics, auto parts, toys for my kids, building materials, etc. Many consumers are in the same boat as me. This "consumer behavior" has sent many jobs overseas.

We need to be OPTIMISTIC and pray that God will help the USA's economic recovery.
---Augie on 8/11/10

The United States economy is in a DEPRESSION. Here's Why:

Company, or Corporate, profits are INCREASING. This makes Wall Street analysts happy and they claim that we're in an economy recovery. Hmmmm . . .

Debt at ALL levels: Personal, Educational, Local, State, Federal, etc. Unemployment, Outsourcing of jobs, Layoffs, Residential and Commercial property Foreclosures, Bank failures, Homeless rates, etc. are INCREASING too. Signs that many people are having a difficut time just living.

Retail sales are DECREASING. New jobs are almost non-existent. Consumers are hardly spending anything because of economic uncertainty.

Although many economic experts DENY it, the USA economy is clearly in a DEPRESSION.
